steve adams says:

That’s wierd.
Nolan wants only the face to be white.
Why is this KEL?

Endri says:

Hey KAL if you ever noticed any of my other comments you will realize I am not the best speller as a metter of fact I am still in 10th greade and have time to correct my spelling but that is the suit I was tolking about.

And the whole Joker/Bond thing I was tolking about was about the part when the Joker was shooting at Batman while he was riding the bike or somthing like that he looked bad ass. Because the Joker I am use to is the one that uses kids toys as weapons (I wonder if they put that in the movie or at least the laghing gas)but what I saw was that Joker uses nighfs instead of playing cards. And the whole Joker whants to make people laghf is that that is how he started (if you read the killing joke) he traid to make people laghf but was not good at it than he felt into wat of toxic wast or whatever, then he became the Joker.

steve adams says:

KEL, that’s good news Singers on board I think he’s one of the best when it comes to super hero films.
^
One thing, if this writers strike continues for months were not going to see Superman and alot of superhero films for years. Maybe til 2011. That includes sequels to Spiderman and Fantastic 4.
^
Just think these studios are really screwing themselves in the long run.. Forget tv shows movies are only a year or two in development right now. There’s going to be a huge gap in quality films after the great year 2008 I think is gonna be.. If that made any sense?!??

KEL says:

Steve, sorry I took so long getting back to ya, bud. I don’t know exactly why Nolan wants only the face of the Joker white, but I’m betting because it’s only facepaint he puts on (as hinted at in the IMAX six minutes),because if he were chemically scarred then his whole body would be white, right? And Nolan supposedly doesn’t dig the chemical thing.

Endri, you’re in 10th grade and have read Killing Joke? Damn! The version of the Joker seen in Killing Joke isn’t exactly THE definite version of the character, matter of fact, there IS NO definite version of the character’s origin. If you read Mark Waid’s Joker “origin” (which was supposed to be the Joker’s definite origin) you’ll see what I mean. I think it’s at the DC Comics website incase you wanted to check it out.:-)

Steve, that is good news that Singer will be back,Brandon Routh will be Superman in the next Superman film again as well. I don’t know how much truth there is to this, but sometime ago I read that Singer was considering Orlando Bloom for the role of Braniac. But that may or may not be a rumor,I honestly have no idea whether that’s true or not. I guess that casting is right up there with the Heath Ledger Joker right? ;-)

I just watched the trailer again, and the Joker kinda reminds me of Beetle Juice a little. ;-)

steve adams says:

No prob KEL, good info on Jokers origins…as usual.

It looks like the Joker has kidnapped Batmans girlfriend or whoever Gilenhalls character is… Didn’t you notice how the Joker knew Batman wouldn’t run him down on the bike.
And also I bet we see some Gothem police go corrupt… And side with Joker and also help him escape.
^
(Just a few things I noticed).

steve adams says:

How long will it be before we see two-face and possibly the Batwing??
^
Has it been confirmed yet on ether of these making it into the film.???

Endri says:

KAL I got into comix in about two years ago or so and I am still traying to figure out some of the heroes let alone theyre bad guys. But thanks for the info. BY the way the killing joke is one of the first comix I ever read.

KEL says:

At the Wizard World Comic Con earlier this year they had Two Face at the end scene of the exclusive footage that they showed. I don’t know about the batwing,I’m almost afraid to see what it would look like.;-)

steve adams says:

KEL, with an E,,,
so Twoface is in the picture did you see how he looked?
Steve

Endri says:

Steve Two Face will be in the movie but I never heard any thing about the batwing.

PS Two Face’s burned face will be in CGI.

steve adams says:

I don’t have any probs with the vehicles in the Batman Begins film and this one.
The Tumbler I guess that’s the nickname for this Batmobile.
Sure its not comic-cannon. But I think what these new Bat films are trying to do is make this seem more realistic in using real automotives and real bikes with machine guns strapped to them.
^
Its old-school tech and that’s very real to this American Chopper generation.
Comic-cannon is neglected yes I agree but it works better this way on film.
^
I could see the Batwing being a full high tech jet fighter kinda like the jet in X-men.

steve adams says:

Thanks for the tip Endri.
^
SFX: notes.
Yea you know what they do is paint half of his (two-face) face green like a green screen color.
Then they can add whatever hidious effects they want in post.
^
Man this is gonna rock even without the Batwing.

steve adams says:

KEL, Wizard world Comic con,, ?? Where was that held. Is that the west coast one in SD ?
^
Btw
I’m in Burbank right down the street from WB studios where are you from?
I’m I going way off topic here?
Sorry……..

Reverend says:

Didn’t read every post, just wanted to put a quick word in to the statement whether or not The Joker will overshadow The Batman.

All I’ve gotta say is I think what we saw of The Joker in this clip is probably every scene he’s going to be in. His whole attire and mannerisms would just get quirky and lose their touch if they were shown the entire movie.

So no, I think The Batman will shine, but this trailer was directed to people who hadn’t been following all the viral messages about The Joker, like we do ;P

-Rev

KEL says:

Steve,I didn’t see how he looked cuz I wasn’t there,I’ve just read the report at Wizarduniverse.com,dude. :-) The con was held earlier this year,in L.A.,I think, back in August.
Man,Steve, you are lucky! You live right down the street from WB? AWESOME! I live in Pennsylvania, and have no idea where WB is…..:-(

Endri, dude,it’s fine that you’re jus getting into comix,I’m glad you like what you’re reading. Killing Joke is a heavy story,a little to heavy on the nudity/language/violence for my taste tho,but I’m glad you liked it,bud. :-)

steve adams says:

Thanks Kel, it not that glamorus and my rent is high…
The walls are very high so I can’t see what’s going on but you know that inside those big stages there shooting films and Tv shows.
^
But unfortunitly now and almost everyday the WGA srikers are out there walking the line right in front of the gates. It totally sucks to see that.
^
Comic con is located north of San Diego. That’s about a 3 hour drive for me.
I’ve never gone to one. I think they should really produce a comic Con direct to dvd documentary. Cronicling the event ..?

KEL says:

Man,that must bite to see the strikers out there everyday. I hope the strike is settled soon, not that I disagree with the writers or anything, but I want my damn movies, and I want them to be good. So if JLA’s script has some groaners (al la a “Jason” in da script ;-) ) then they can’t correct them if the strike is still going on in Feb when shooting begins.

I know they have comic cons all over the country year ’round, but I know that the Sandiego one is THE biggest and is THE ONE to go to for movie exclusives. Of course, the Wizard World comic cons showcase a lot of upcoming films, like the afformentioned excusive Dark Knight footage that included Two face, maybeI’ll get around to one one o’ these days. ;-)

I’m researching more JLA movie stuff today, mostly about the rumored Superman actors and such.:-)

Sorry I took so long to get back to you guys. :-)

KEL says:

I still can’t believe they’re actually calling it “The Dark Knight” and not including “Batman” in the title at all! Bold move,IMO.:-)

Reverend says:

Yeah, I know what you mean KEL, I think it’ll pay off though. People don’t want another “Batman and Robin” “Batman Forever” “Batman Begins” “Batman Returns” ect. ect.

But hey, anyone else worried that we haven’t seen The Joker laugh, or even a smile yet? I wonder if all that heavy make-up hinders the grin we saw earlier this year.

Rev

steve adams says:

I think the title says it all,,,shees we all know its Batman.
^
Corrupt police,, a maniacle killer, and a tragic multaltion. Sounds like a dark night too me.

Vic says:

Rev,

While we don’t SEE the Joker laugh in the trailer, we hear him a couple of times… and it sounds perfect!

Vic

KEL says:

Guys,
5 dollars says that when you call your local theater for showtimes on TDK the recorded voice will say this: “Batman: The Dark Knight, now showing at…” instead of just “The Dark Knight: now showing at…”,cuz to be honest there are some people who sincerely won’t know what the hell The Dark Knight is,they’ll just know there’s a new Batman movie and if they hear Batman before the rest of the title they’re more likely to see it,providing they haven’t seen previews and can’t remember the name of “that new Batman movie”. ;-)

One thing that cocerns me with the Joker in this film is how he puts the “smiles” on peoples’ faces. Does he scarr them with a knife or does he use laughing gas like in the comic books? Hopefully the latter because seeing him take a knife to someone’s face will be REALLY sickening (yeah,he’s evil and inclined to do something as perverted, but can we draw SOME sort of line with his gruesome deeds, please,Nolan?),and may even warrant an “R” rating, but I’m afraid Nolan might go with the knife “smile scarr” thing cuz he might think that “laughing gas” is a little too “far fetched” for his “motion picture”. I guess we’ll wait and see.:-/

KEL says:

I may dislike that “Tumbler” thing,it just isn’t the typical comic book styled batmobile to me,I understand the reasons for it tho,but I’m really likin’ that “batpod” aka batcycle!! It’s a badass lookin’ thing! MMM!

steve adams says:

Watching the trailer KEL I think were going to get cutting…

Remember the line:
“All I found in his pockets were these (knives) and lint”.
^
Prob will be offscreen but we will here the screems. Aaahhhhh^:))
^
Also I bet after your post WB will start to ad Batman in the title.

steve adams says:

Tumbler would have looked cooler if they would have somehow covered the wheels.
^
But overall it blew me away for the sheer believability of it.
This new batpod also looks fricken awesome. I’m still holding out for a Batwing in the film! :ยป

KEL says:

Yeah,I hope we don’t get cutting. That’s just really,really…..I don’t know……gross. I don’t see why thats necessary,frankly. :-/

The Riddler is in it I think, and Scarecrow is back too,I’ve read! Sounds like this is gonna be a fun ride! :-D

I would like to see the batwing someday too,Steve! Maybe 3….?

steve adams says:

The Riddler and Scarecrow!!! Wow this is great news!!!
^
I wonder who’s cast to play those roles???

KEL says:

Well,Steve,Cillian Murphy will be back as the Scarecrow, supposedly a minor character in this film, and according to an article in an issue of Wizard Magazine,Anthony Michael Hall is speculated as being cast as the Riddler, but over at IMDB.com they have him listed as playing someone named Mike Engel, not a clue who this character is,and IMDB IS wrong about things sometimes, but if he’s playing the Riddler (aka Edward Nigma) this might just be a phony name.

Also, sometime ago,and I don’t think there is any truth to this, but sometime ago actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was supposedly going to play the Penguin in TDK. Good choice,IMO,he played the bad guy in Mission Impossible 3 named Davian to a T. But I don’t believe that is true.

steve adams says:

Wow this new DK is packed with flavor…,!
^
I’m thinking we get Jokers story throughout most the film and just as things wine down its POW, BAM, KPOW, Riddler and Two-face! This is great news better than that last bit about Spidey…OMG!

Ralph from Hoboken, NJ says:

I could not believe my eyes when I watched the trailer! Health Ledger is AWESOME as the new Joker! Much better and creepier than Jack Nicholson (although I did like his performance also). This is going to be ONE HELL OF A MOVIE. Can’t wait till July 2008! LONG LIVE THE JOKER!
