Nobody knows how to turn our culture on its head quite like Jim Henson's Muppets. The always irreverent characters (which Homer Simpson famously defined as the combination of a mop and a puppet) are making a comeback this year, and are apparently ready to knock a few superheroes down while they reclaim their glory.

Today we have a special double-feature treat for you Muppet heads out there: a new teaser trailer for Disney's new movie The Muppets takes on Green Lantern, while the lovable scamps of Sesame Street poke fun at Spider-Man's hopes for Broadway glory.

Superheroes are all the rage (at least for right now), to the point that superhero movies have virtually taken over the summer 2011 movie season, while over on Broadway, Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark continues to struggle to find its legs (all eight of them). If you had asked us a few years back whether or not we'd ever be living in an age such as this, we definitely would have laughed in your face (particularly at the notion of a Spider-Man musical).

Well, the Muppets certainly seem to be approaching our current fascination with superheroes with a sly smirk and a wink, as demonstrated by these two great videos below:

Kermit dissing Ryan Reynolds' gruff-speak Green Lantern oath is just bitingly funny (can Christian Bale's "Batman voice" be far behind?). However, for my money, Grover taking out both Turn Off the Dark AND U2's Bono in a one-two punch makes the Sesame Street vid the clear winner for me. Man, nobody is safe from these puppets.

Which video did you like best?
