The Mandalorian season 3 is rumored to premiere sometime in December. The Mandalorian was one of the launch titles for Disney+  and followed the adventures of Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) as he traveled the galaxy alongside a mysterious child of Yoda's species known as Grogu. The series became a breakout hit and has become one of the most popular pieces of Star Wars media released in the past few years. Grogu, colloquially known as Baby Yoda, has become a social media sensation.

Season 1 of The Mandalorian ran in 2019, while season 2 premiered in 2020. The series took off 2021, and in its place, The Book of Boba Fett premiered at the end of the year on December 29 and has run into the early part of 2022, with the season finale set to February 9, 2022. However, The Book of Boba Fett has featured The Mandalorian characters heavily in the latter half of the season, with many viewers referring to the series as The Mandalorian season 2.5. The Book of Boba Fett has played out like the next chapter in The Mandalorian and will likely tie into events in the upcoming Ahsoka series and Rangers of the New Republic.

According to TV Line, The Mandalorian is set to premiere on Disney+ in 2022, likely sometime around Christmas. This would align with past premiere dates for The Mandalorian and other Star Wars series. It should be noted it is unclear if TV Line is confirming this as news due to a source or if it was just speculating on the release date.

The Mandalorian season 3 premiering in December 2022 would align with the past two seasons of the series. Season 1 premiered in November while season 2 premiered at the tail end of October, and both concluded their runs in December. December is also a high profile month for Star Wars since the acquisition by Disney as the studio found released The Force Awakens, Rogue One, The Last Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker all during the month, and each film went on to box office success. The trend was set to continue with the release of Rogue Squadron on December 23, 2023, but the film was reportedly delayed due to creative differences.

While it appears to be a bit of a wait for The Mandalorian season 3, Disney still plans to release plenty of Star Wars series through 2022. While 2021 was more spaced out with only The Bad Batch and Star Wars: Visions, 2022 is shaping up to be a big year for Star Wars. After The Book of Boba Fett wraps, it is highly suspected that Obi-Wan Kenobi will premiere in May to align with May the Fourth. The Bad Batch season 2 is also expected to air in summer 2022, and Andor will premiere sometime between July and September. When Andor finishes its run, it will likely only be a few short weeks until the supposed premiere of The Mandalorian season 3.
