Jay says:

Just finished watching it about 16 times in a row.

First watch impression…
“Oh no! It looks all CG!”

I really need to see more to make up my mind about it. I pray to God they don’t ruin my life long favorite character/series.

Shane says:

You know, it seems that people now can only nitpick things to death. I, for one, absolutely loved the trailer. Too bad that we are all so grown up that we aren’t able to just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Paul says:

It’s mentioned that it’s too unbelievable for a 60 year-old Indy to be doing stunts like that, but yet… if he DIDN’T do stunts like that people would complain and ask how come Indy didn’t do any stunts?! YEESH! Stop nitpicking this movie to death, have realistic expectations, and enjoy the movie! BTW, I thought the trailer was great and Ford looks better than I could have ever imagined! I want that guy’s genes!

Shane says:

Paul,
I totally agree with you. For some reason they can’t suspend disbelief for him doing his stunts, but can buy into the overall premise of the movie, with the booby trapped tombs and all of that. The movies have a pretty good track record, this one will be at the very least entertaining, at the very best it will be awesome.

PG says:

Once the familiar theme music starts up, how could anyone not be excited for this movie? I love it!

Summer ‘08 is gonna be great. Iron Man, Hulk, Indy 4, TDK… Mmmmm :)

Screen Rant says:

Sorry, guys… I just call it like I see it. That jumped out to me, so I mentioned it.

You DID notice that I considered that a minor nit and that based on the trailer I’m finally excited about this movie, didn’t you?

Vic

Jay says:

I can suspend disbelief in regards to everything about the movie but I just hate the CGI look of modern day effects.

I would much rather see bluescreened plastc models and real locations and physically possible camera angles.

I don’t want to Indy to look like Die Hard 4 or Fast and the Furious or Star Wars 1,2 or 3.

I mean seriously did they REALLY need to blue screen the actors onto a moving background on that cliffside chase? Whatever happened to towing vehicles from a camera truck on real physical locations?! I’m sure that’d be cheaper than doing it “Modern style” and having the audience distracted because it looks fake.

Jim Carey says:

Vic, I’m with you. This trailer *finally* gets me interested. I might even see it.

I predict that one theme of the movie is about the wisdom and limitations of growing old, and–I don’t know–some obscure virtue of youthfulness.
The “Damn, I thought that was closer” line hit me as one of a series of self-deprecating references to his age. I am sure he makes fun of his son’s “youth and inexperience,” and I’m sure his son saves his bacon (maybe by mistake) a few times to impress the old man.

Aside: I know this music is the same as the other movies, but isn’t it the same music from the Superman movies?

Tom says:

This trailer is awesome!I was one of those who doubted whether this movie would be up to snuff or not,but seeing this trailer really gets me exicited.

Now to all the crank ass’s and nitpickers out there who have to find something wrong with everything, come on.If you think theirs to much CG in this trailer, give me a break.Vic,if a twenty year old did some of that stuff they would pay the hospital a visit.A normal sixty year old,it’s INDIANA JONES theirs nothing normal about him!!!

By the way,it looks like maybe the Nazi’s are still searching for the Ark of the Covenant.

Jay says:

Nazi’s looking for the Ark?! What trailer were you watching?!

Screen Rant says:

Tom, please note the name of this site: Screen Rant.

Again, I point to the overall tone of the above post.

Finally, watch the name calling. If you can’t express yourself in a civil manner you won’t be expressing yourself at all here.

Best regards,

Vic

Jim Carey says:

The trailer and other still shots in the past, shows them in a vast warehouse of wooden crates, which is the classic post-script to the first movie.

Vic, I wasn’t bothered by Tom’s passionate response. I took it as a rant in itself. It’s funny that the obscure word “nitpick” has appeared at least 3 times in this thread. Oops, now 4.

jerseycajun says:

It took this trailer to get me really in gear to see this. I was always going to go anyway just to find out if they could recapture the same sense of fun and adventure after such a long absence, but now my trepidation has been at least mostly alleviated and I’m really looking forward to it.

Tom says:

Thanx Jim Carey, im glad someone else has watched the movies to and understands passion when they see it.Im sorry I thought this was Screen Rant movie news without the sugar coating.

Andy says:

I couldn’t wait for this movie and now the trailer has me even MORE excited!! C’mon people, it’s INDIANA JONES!! It’s got the action, the classic quips and real bad guys….and that’s just the clip!! Ya know, I think I might be more excited about this movie now than Dark Knight or Iron Man. I mean, if you think “action hero” the first one that comes to MY mind is Indiana Jones (followed by John McClain and John Rambo). I’m just hoping that this is an appropriate send off to the franchise!!!

Screen Rant says:

Tom, I love the first and third Indy movies. As a matter of fact, “Raiders” was probably the most amazing movie viewing experience of my life…

I showed up with a few friends to an advanced screening of the original, not having ANY idea what it was about, and we ended up sitting in the front row. My jaw dropped starting with the opening sequence and never closed until the movie ended. It was one of the formative movie experiences of my life and is one of the reasons I run a site like this.

It’s also when of the reasons that I hold most movies up to such a high standard. If a studio can make a “Raiders” or “Aliens” and have it turn out freaking awesome, I have little tolerance for “AVP-R” or “Tomb Raider.”

That’s why I’m “nitpicky.”

Regarding “without the sugar coating,” that means calling it like it is, not lobbing personal insults. You can disagree with me all you want – hell, I encourage debate here, but you’ll impress me more if you make your argument with out calling someone a “crank ass.”

Be polite and you’ll be welcome here, even if you’re wrong. ;-)

Best regards,

Vic

jack says:

dude this trailer looks awseome!it makes me want to go to the video store and buy all 3 movies!

Shane says:

Oh hey Vic, I was actually referring to the posts at other sites and failed to make that clear in my post. Sorry for the confusion, glad to see you are on board my friend.

Jay says:

Makes you want to go buy all 3 movies? You don’t already own them?! What’s wrong with you?

I’ll sell you one of mine for $40 Canadian. (New in package) Slim DVD cases or $20 for the regular cases (used) Take your pick.

I won a set in a contest even though I already had it.

Brian Tipton says:

Haters…eat it. This movie is going to kick ass, and you’re going to buy a ticket. It’s that simple. If you want to cry and moan about the CGI or the fact that it’s not up to your standards, the end result will be the same. Either you buy a ticket and enjoy the ride with EVERYBODY else in the movie going world, OR you sit at home and wait for all of us to see it and laugh our asses off at your for not doing the same. Indy Rules!

KEL says:

QUOTE FROM JIM CAREY: “Aside: I know this music is the same as the other movies, but isn’t it the same music from the Superman movies?”

LMAO!!! OMG!! Are you serious? LOL!!

No,the music is COMPLETELY different from the Superman movies,it’s the Indiana Jones’ theme,NOT the Superman theme, bud. Seriously, check it out on the web. Go to You Tube and watch the opening credits for Superman and then watch this trailer again. I guess it is possible that the music for Superman and Indy sounds similar, perhaps that’s because the great John William’s did the score for BOTH films, not to mention the scores for ALL the Star Wars films and Jurassic Park among other great films. Yeah,I know,he’s one helluva guy!! :-D

My thoughts on trailer:

Excellent! First time I watched it I was kinda dissapointed that they spent the first 46 seconds of the trailer showing stuff that we’d already seen but then I realized that they did it for a reason and seeing Harrison Ford in action again as Indy got me totally psyched up for the film! I can’t wait! I’m also relieved that the trailer focused mostly on Indy,as it should and not Shia Labeouf’s character (no offense meant to him),I’m glad it wasn’t “son of indiana Jones” or some rip off like that. That tells me something about the movie and I’m definitely seeing it. :-D

Too bad Sean Connery isn’t in it tho….I read something in the Star Wars Insider mag a while ago that Lucas wrote his character in the film whether Connery would play him or not,so it’ll be interesting to see what happens regarding that.

QUOTE FROM ANDY: I mean, if you think “action hero” the first one that comes to MY mind is Indiana Jones (followed by John McClain and John Rambo).

OMG! John McCain??!! JOHN MCCAIN as an action hero??!! Or a hero in general? The guy’s a shmuck! You must be joking, man!! LOL! Well, even if you aren’t,I apologize for that, everyone is entitled to there own opinion and yours just made me laugh a little. I hope you aren’t mad….

Honestly tho,I’d rather have Ron Paul anyday…seriously. Only honest candidate out there,IMO.

KEL says:

love that Indy theme…. :-)

Screen Rant says:

Kel, you’re kidding! John McLANE rocks as an action hero. :-)

And Brian, you loved AVP-R, didn’t you… come on, spill, lol.

My concerns about this movie were based on the fact that I didn’t know of Lucas and Spielberg could recapture the youthful spirit of the previous films… look at what they’ve done recently: The lousy Star Wars prequels for Lucas and Spielberg has been doing very dark movies.

BUT…. it looks like they may pull it off after all. Nice to see them back in the genre that helped launch their careers.

Vic

KEL says:

Kel, you’re kidding! John McLANE rocks as an action hero. :-)

OMG!! I am SO sorry,I totally misread!!

Thanks Vic and sorry Andy.

KEL says:

QUOTE FROM VIC: “Kel, you’re kidding! John McLANE rocks as an action hero. :-)

Shoulda been in quotes,sorry again.

Tom says:

Who was lobbing personal insults at any body?I was not attacking you personaly, just your comments.Im sorry that you took it that way,I ment no harm Vic.

By the way Raiders is my all time favorite movie, thats why the passion.I was expecting a mailed in performance, but this trailer says other wise.

Brian Tipton says:

AVP-R? huh? did I accidentally make a reference to that ham fisted slush of a terrible idea of a movie? No… It’s certainly on my top ten worst films of all time. It wasnt’ even you that I was referring to as a “hater” Vic, it’s all these other bozos whining about having to suspend their disbelief one more time…and that after they’ve watched the Lord of the Rings for the 40th time this weekend.

As for your comments about Lucas and Spielberg, I can comment only this: Spielberg is still the greatest American Director of all time. hands down. His dark period isn’t so far removed from where Indy’s always been (ie Temple of Doom)and Lucas rarely screws things up when he’s just producing, not directing. I might even buy two tickets to see it out of sheer principle.

Vic says:

Tom, no worries, bud.

Brian, I was just ribbing you on the AVP-R thing. I’m glad we agree on that. :-)

Actually, I just want to point out AGAIN that this trailer actually got me excited about the possibilities for Indy 4 being a fun, great ride.

Glad to have you guys here.

Best regards,

Vic

Andy says:

“OMG! I hope you aren’t mad….”

Sorry, I misspelled McCLANE..LOL…no offense taken, but I don’t think McCAIN is a schmuck. Sure, I don’t agree with alot of the man’s policies, but I respect the hell out of him. He served his country in the military, spent time being TORTURED as a POW and then when he gets home he STILL wants to serve his country as a senator. I’m not going to vote for him (well PROBABLY not), but I have alot of respect for the man.

Andy says:

One other thing, did anyone else get chills when Indy picked up his hat and they showed his shadow on the car? Or when the theme music started up?? I am SOOOO going to watch the whole trilogy my next day off….a 6 pack of Long Trail Ale, lots of popcorn and pretzels and an Indiana Jones marathon!!!
