I'm with HornetSting, Seth is perfect to play Fat Freddie, with James Franco as Phineas T. Freakears, and Paul Rudd, in a cheesy mustache, as Freewheelin' Franklin. Gilbert Shelton was such a good writer, you could take anyone of his comics and turn it into a feature length movie. I'd hope for either Grass Roots or Mexican Odyssey, maybe even Idiots Abroad. And yes, I'd line up and pay twice for that vs. some POS Green Hornet movie.

Rogen in FAB FURRY FREAK BROS. = THE WIN.

Rogen in GREEN HORNET = WTF?!

Especially in light of A) the wonderful reception that THE DARK KNIGHT received at the Golden Globes last night (the nominations), B) how DK's success has affected the development of other "super" characters (read John August's posts on the SHAZAM movie), and C)the upcoming WATCHMEN movie which is setting itself apart as being "different, dangerous and adult" and you have a climate that doesn't support a funny GH movie.

Rogen, please do the right thing and step aside as the lead. We want you to bring the funny and the quirky. We don't want you to dress up as the Hornet to do it.

As long as Rogen is playing Britt Reid, and as long as they're still considering a comedic interpretation, I have zero interest in this film. I hope Sony/Columbia are starting to realize they are going to ruin a fantastic, potentially very lucrative, and long term property. This could be huge for them, resulting in numerous sequels and tons of merchandise. If they go the Rogen route it's going to be a one trick pony that breaks it's leg doing the one trick on opening night. This movie is doomed as long as Rogen is attached to it. Now... a Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers movie with Rogen as Fat Freddy... I'd pay double to see that.

To be fair to Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, we should note that they have said they grew up on action movies and have always wanted to do a big action movie. And their work on Pineapple Express at least showed that they have the potential to pull it off.

The next director (and possibly the new Kato) will be a huge sign as to the direction this film is headed. I hope they get a little more serious.

Will someone please pull the plug on this thing already?

Not that anyone asked, here's my cast list for a Green Hornet movie:

Hornet/Britt Reid - Josh Duhamel, Wentworth Miller, Dominic Purcell, Matthew Fox, Michael Vartan, Eric Bana, Tom Welling...

Kato - Shu Qi, Tony Ja.
