[There are spoilers for the third season of The Flash below.]

There are only three episodes left in The Flash season 3, and long-time fans of the program know anything is truly possible at this point. The mystery of the show's third season has taken Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) on an emotional ride that has had unexpected turns and consequences for every member of Team Flash. In last week's episode, a jarring season-long twist was revealed that will forever change the destiny of every character on the show.

Aside from trips to alternate future realities and adventures in Gorilla City, the main thrust of the season has been to uncover the identity of Savitar and to prevent the imminent death of Iris West. The armored speedster isn't only behind the murder of Allen's fiance, but his actions also lead Caitlin, Cisco, Wally, and others directly down a dark path that they never bounce back from.

Last week's reveal of the future version of Barry Allen being Savitar set the geek world on fire. The episode titled, 'I Know Who You Are', prepped the stage for a dynamic showdown at the end of the season which looks to be both heart-breaking and action-packed. For those who simply can't wait and want a glimpse into the near future of The Flash, you are in luck. In the video above, The CW  has provided a sizzle reel that highlights unexpected returning characters -- such as Captain Cold and King Shark - epic set pieces, and emotional moments to come in the final episodes of the third season.

There is a lot to digest in the brief trailer, however it's clear that Allen will not be keeping the secret of Savitar's identity to himself for long. Joe West (Jesse L. Martin) has a conversation that indicates that he has come face-to-face with the alternate version of his adopted son and recognizes the look of pain in his eyes. It's also worth noting that it appears that an unmasked Savitar shares a scene with Iris West (Candice Patton) in which he reveals his damaged face, which she tenderly touches. These are two more examples of the subtle yet layered heart that is embedded in the DNA of the series, which has been the secret ingredient that has attracted fans attention since the series' premiere in 2014.

The reveal of the future Barry as Savitar raises an array of mind-bending questions that need to be answered before season's end. Perhaps none bigger than why would, under any conditions, the future Allen murder the love of his life and how will the present Allen find a way to defeat a more experienced and powerful version of himself. Fortunately, it looks like many of these plot threads will be addressed over the course of the final episodes and audiences will soon find how the Flash will alter the timeline once again.

The Flash airs Tuesdays at 8pm on The CW Network.
