The Expendables: 50 Cent Is Out, Terry Crews Is In

Published 5 years ago by , Updated August 22nd, 2013 at 3:25 pm,

Earlier this week it was reported that Forest Whitaker had to drop out of The Expendables due to a scheduling conflict. Then it was immediately reported that 50 Cent would be replacing Whitaker as Hale Caesar in Sylvester Stallone’s up and coming project.  And now, Ain’t It Cool is reporting that Sylvester Stallone himself has said 50 Cent is out and the role will go to former San Diego Charger and actor Terry Crews.

In an exclusive interview with Stallone Ain’t It Cool said:

“For quite some time, the role belonged to Forest Whitaker, but a push in the schedule made it impossible for the Ghost Dog to continue with the film. Then I received a call, informing me that rapper, 50 CENT aka Curtis Jackson, had stepped into the role. Then Sly sent me an email regarding that casting, that I updated the story with. Well… today, I get woke up with a very enthusiastic call from Stallone, who has recast the role of Hale Caesar for a final (hopefully) time.”

Relatively unknown by name, Crews is easily recognizable for both his size (a towering 6’2″) and menacing grin.  He was most recently Agent 91 in Get Smart and will star in the highly anticipated Terminator Salvation.  It sounds like Crews is totally perfect for the role.  I actually remember him most for his role in the relatively terrible Wayans Bros film, White Chicks. Crews is a much better choice to replace Forest Whitaker.  Not to put down 50 Cent, but I am sure he’d he out of his league, if you know what I mean.

  1. *sighs with relief*

Seems Sly is listening to the reactions. Good for him.

  2. Good choice .

  3. “Crews is a much better choice to replace Forest Whitaker. Not to put down 50 Cent, but I am sure he’d he out of his league, if you know what I mean.”

Not in 50 cent’s mind, if you listen to how he praises himself in his “music” you’d think that he’ll be on set wondering if all of these other “has-beens” can keep up with him…

  4. way better choice

  5. lol. i love this guy so much !!!!! he’s really funny, and thats hard for such a big tough looking guy. love it!

  6. I’ve seen him in a couple of things and as an actor, he seems to be pretty good so I’m much happier with this than with 50 Cent.

  7. President Camacho is in The Expendables and all is right in the world.

  8. Yes! Anyone > 50 Cents! lol

  9. In the words of Arnold Schwarzenegger, “This is Fantastic!”
Like Joshi, I have seen Terry in some roles, he is great in Everybody Hates Chris, and is a really good actor. He is hilarious as Damon in Friday After Next, should check him out there, and also in Arnold’s The 6th Day. I am surprised why this guy does not get any big action roles, thank the heavens he is in here! Great job Sly!!!
Again, I doubt Whittaker was up for the role of Hale Ceaser, was he not Agent Sands? Hmm, Sly, plug the water hole you have with Carl, bring Dillion in!

“I am surprised why this guy does not get any big action roles”

I think his role in Terminator Salvation should alleviate that. ;)

  11. A MUCH MUCH MUCH better choice! Great job, Sly!! This movie is going to ROCK! I still think Sly needs to find a way to get Carl Weathers and Jesse Ventura in the movie… :)

  12. Joshi, fo real he’s in Salvation? Nice! Hope he does not die in it!

  13. Excellent chose, Sly. Terry Crews is much better pick than the ‘wactor’ 50 cent.
Off topic: Terry Crews should be cast the role of LUKE CAGE. He is the prefect Power Man aka ‘Hero for Hire’, not Tyrese.

  14. And the sun is now shining upon us, no 50 Cent.

  15. THANK GOD WANKSTA 1 is not in it. Well as long as he doesn’t start doing the Robot like in White Chicks, or pulling Cheeseburgers out of his pants it should be ok. BUT IT WOULD BE FUNNY AS HELL IF HE DID.

  16. @Adrian
I still think Michael Jai White would be the perfect Luke Cage but Crews works as well.

The sun is shining, there are no more taxes, Halleluia is playing in the background….All is right with the world! Terry Crews is a googelplex better than 50 Cents. I thought he was great in the Longest Yard, even though I thought the remake was inferior to the original.

  17. “The sun is shining, there are no more taxes”

Lol, if only this was true… :-D

  18. @Ken J
A man can dream, can’t he? Hey, one wish came true; 50 IQ..I mean, 50 Cents is out. :-)

  19. 50 IQ? You know, just because he’s black and you’re black too doesn’t mean you have to give him the BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT. 50 sounds kind of high to me, I’d say 40 MAX. :-P

Saludos.:D
