When Sylvester Stallone assembled his cast of bad-ass action stars for The Expendables, which included cameo appearances of Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger, the only thing fans desired was more. The Expendables 2 promises to deliver exactly that in spades.

Adding more 80s action heroes who initially turned down opportunities to play a part in the first flick, legends Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme now join the team along with several other notable stars. The first poster for The Expendables 2 hit last month to showcase the unbelievable cast and now we have the very first teaser trailer which does the same.

Fans who enjoyed the '80s throwback should be losing their minds at the realization that The Expendables 2 and its cast actually exists and is coming next year. The list of who's involved is more than enough to warrant a trip to the theater and Lionsgate knows this, hence this trailer revealing little outside of the characters.

The only star this trailer is missing is scene for Scott Adkins, the incredibly talented martial artist who starred in Ninja and in Assassination Games alongside Van Damme. He'll be working with Van Damme in next year's Universal Soldier: A New Dimension, which also stars Expendables veteran Dolph Lundgren. He can be seen briefly behind Van Damme in the trailer.

Apple also has the latest official synopsis for the film which explains the basic plot of The Expendables 2:

The Expendables are back and this time it's personal... Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone), Lee Christmas (Lee Statham), Yin Yang (Jet Li), Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren),Toll Road (Randy Couture) and Hale Caesar (Terry Crews) -- with newest members Billy the Kid (Liam Hemsworth) and Maggie (Yu Nan) aboard -- are reunited when Mr. Church (Bruce Willis) enlists the Expendables to take on a seemingly simple job. The task looks like an easy paycheck for Barney and his band of old-school mercenaries. But when things go wrong and one of their own is viciously killed, the Expendables are compelled to seek revenge in hostile territory where the odds are stacked against them. Hell-bent on payback, the crew cuts a swath of destruction through opposing forces, wreaking havoc and shutting down an unexpected threat in the nick of time -- six pounds of weapons-grade plutonium; enough to change the balance of power in the world. But that's nothing compared to the justice they serve against the villainous adversary who savagely murdered their brother. That is done the Expendables way....

Simon West steps into the director's chair for The Expendables 2 with all of the original's cast (Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews, Randy Couture) returning, joined again by Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger in larger roles. Liam Hemsworth, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Chuck Norris, Scott Adkins and Novak Djokovic also join the cast as new characters.

While Mickey Rourke will not return, Antonio Banderas was approached to but time may have prevented him having a chance to shoot his part. Expect him in The Expendables 3!
