The Netflix corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to move ahead with no signs of slowing down. Next year will be the third that Marvel and Netflix roll out new content together; they have even expanded their schedule to three shows a year. The entire plan for the Netflix universe has been building towards bringing Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist together to form a super-powered team. This will finally happen in 2017 with The Defenders, and it will be the first time viewers see many of these characters interact with one another.

While potential meetings could be in store during the first season of Iron Fist, it will be the first time that many of these characters meet for a larger purpose outside of the pre-established relationship between Jessica and Luke. One relationship that likely has fans of the comics excited to see is Luke and Danny Rand. And the newest set photos may give a behind the scenes look at their first encounter.

Getty Images has posted new photos from the set of The Defenders that feature Luke (Mike Colter), Danny (Finn Jones), and Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick) alongside a car that has crashed through the pavement. These are the first images of Jones or Henwick filming, and although Jones and Colter are not shown side-by-side, this could be the first scene they've filmed together.

While the context of this scene is unknown, it should be interesting to learn what brings them together and how the car ended up halfway through the earth. Could this be the work of Sigourney Weaver's mysterious villain? Potentially, but the car's state could play a larger part into the story of the series or it could mean nothing at all.

If this is the first meeting of Luke and Danny, this will be an important moment for comic enthusiasts. Luke and Danny are best friends in the comics and constantly operate as Power Man and Iron Fist. The potential for them meeting in Iron Fist seems unlikely as Luke is likely handling his legal woes until Defenders. Once they are acquainted, though, it will be important to see how well Colter and Jones' chemistry is onscreen. They should be given plenty of time to interact throughout their team-up in The Defenders and hopefully again as the characters move forward with their solo series -- such as in the just-announced second season of Luke Cage. For now, their first encounter will have to wait to be seen, but this scene brings them one step closer to bringing all four Defenders together.

Daredevil seasons 1 and 2, Jessica Jones season 1, and Luke Cage season 1 are now available on Netflix. Iron Fist will premiere on March 17, 2017. The Defenders and The Punisher will arrive in 2017. Premiere dates for the newest seasons of Jessica JonesDaredevil, and Luke Cage have not yet been announced.
