Very nice read and I agree that this film is very dark. FYI,If you pause the new trailer on the part where Harvey is in the car holding a revolve, he’s Two-face there!

Oh I think TDK WILL have Iron Man B.O. Its coming at the perfect time.
Iron Man has just recharged the Superhero genre, and after Indy 4, everyones going to want to see Batman.
^
On 2/face
I’ve heard that there using a new CGI technique that allows for the acid scarred side to have fluid movement and expression.

End result: you won’t be able to tell its an effect.

So yeah its going to look something like “Darkman on a really bad bandage day”. I would expect pus as well.

Hey want some butter on yer popcorn??? No thanks mister.

Who’s Nolan paying off to get the PG-13 rating. Sheeesh the trailer is practically rated R

“While I don’t think that The Dark Knight will ever make Iron Man money, I do feel that it has the chance of being the best and most adult comic book adaptation.”

It may be pushing the boundaries, but the award for the best and most adult comic book adaptation goes to Sin City.

Sin City was an amazing film. I only hope Sin2 will be as good and as rated R as possible!!

Well maybe not that R

Aint it cool has what they claim is concept art for two-face. If it’s even remotely accurate in its appearance, I don’t know how this is getting away with a PG-13.

The Dark Knight, indeed. With the emphasis on dark.

This movie might frighten grown men, the way it’s shaping up.

I wholeheartedly disagree. Batman Begins was, well, the beginning. As dark as it seems, I think there are a lot of people anticipating this movie, enough to propel it to record numbers.

Noir but grounded in a modern day reality. Notice how the cityscapes look. Then look at the cityscapes created in the earlier movies. They’re more unreal, dream like. Their reality is found only in the context of the movie. This reincarnation looks like a natural extension of modern real life. I could see where this particular choice could add dimensions to the story that make for a more adult movie. I think Niall Browne is right, leave the kids at home.

Clearly the pic was something that WB owned, which gave them the right to request it be taken down.

The picture that made the rounds was somewhat verified to be production art. What that means is that while this might not be the exact vision of Harvey Dent as two face we end up seeing in the film, it’s a good indication of the direction they were looking at taking. Someone suggested elsewhere that the design team on the film might have been told to push the limits of the design as far as they could with the understanding that they might have to pull it back some later for ratings purposes. It’s plausible that this could be the case, and in fact I’d suggest that they would need to do that (based on the picture I’ve seen) in order to secure a PG-13 rating, unless Nolan has some kind of special favor thing going on with the ratings board. It really is quite repulsive, and wouldn’t be out of place in a Romero film.

Even if it’s just for the sake of plausibility (such a severe wounding has little to no chance of survival - and Nolan has been making this Bat-universe based on more plausible circumstances), something needs to be dialed down just a tad. It won’t detract from my enjoyment of the film, though. I’m thoroughly stoked to see the final result. Nolan is, for the most part, writing Batman like a Shakespearian tragedy, and treating the audience like thinking adults, and I couldn’t be happier for it.

Good points, Jerseycajun. I agree it needs to be taken down a few notches.

That’s a pretty intense make up job. If it’s half of what they really will do. Kids all around will be having night mares. Even though I don’t mind, gotta think of the kids I suppose.

That would be very cool.

Hope they got Christina Ricci to play her.

Rumors have been flying, first it was Sarah Michelle Geller. Warner denied that outright. Then their’s Reese Witherspoon. I think that’s impossible too, because she’s had two other films occupying her. The latest was
Sarah Jane Dunn. Christina Ricci, well that would make her this summers female action star. However, Nolan has went on record as saying that the character isn’t in the movie. Who ya gonna believe?

Yowza if that is indeed Two-Face, that is stomach-churningly awesome. The Jonah-Hex look, however does seem like a brutally realistic depiction of, uh, weird acid exposure… Can’t wait to see the debut of this Two-Face in theaters and watch as popcorn buckets all around get used for another unintended purpose.
