[UPDATE: It's finally online! Check out the brand new Dark Knight trailer here!]
Let’s just roll a few news items into one regarding The Dark Knight, shall we?
First, we have a description of the six minute preview highlighting the Joker that will be shown with the IMAX version of I Am Legend. Over at UGO.com they have a very detailed breakdown of the entire six minute clip. If you want to know any more and be completely spoiled, head on over. You won’t see any details here because despite the fact that I run a movie site, dammit I still want to be surprised sometimes.
What I have heard that isn’t spoilerish is that on its own it makes a fantastic short film, one of the best short films of 2007.

Next, the word is that an actual trailer for The Dark Knight will be playing before the regular theatrical release of I Am Legend. I’m heading to the nearest IMAX to see the Will Smith apocalyptic flick, so with my luck they won’t show both the trailer and the preview.
Finally, today we have a new poster for The Dark Knight. As my bud Peter said over at /Film, it would have been much more impressive if we didn’t already know what Heath Ledger looks like as the Joker.
For an even larger version head over to SuperHeroHype.com.
The Dark Knight opens on July 18, 2008.

does anyone know if this short film will be online or something, because there are NO imax theaters by me and i still really want to see it
anybody know anything or am i getting too worked up about these stupid imax places
I can’t imagine that at some point it wouldn’t be released online. Unfortunately I have no idea when.

That’s a very clever poster; yeah, if they didn’t reveal him, it would have more impact. But dang, very awesome and clever!
Heath
Very guile and simple; what’s not to like?
Can anyone tell me if this film is rated R.?

I can’t see it being a PG-13…
Steve adams, it’s PG-13, they edit most of the grit shots out for the kiddies.
Yeah, but I think it’s going to push the envelope. I’m pretty sure I won’t want my 11 year old daughter to watch it.
Vic
The poster sux,but the footage sounds awesome! Too bad it won’t be shown online and in non imax theatres.
But we still get to see a traditional trailer for the movie, right? In theatres and online, right? Cross your fingers!
Well, maybe the footage will be released as a feature on the DVD so we can see what we missed?
Yes, regular theaters are getting a trailer. And Kel… the footage is the first six minutes from the movie so you won’t have to wait for a DVD.

Thanks…Adrian.
Kind of makes you wonder if toning it down helps keep the comic book aura…

I’m thinking Batman in a SinCity?? Good or bad???
Like Vic says, the ratings line is very close and sometimes over on films today. I agree.
Beowulf and now Batman are both films that in the past would have been R.rated.
Hope that none of the villians die in this film. Would be nice to see Arkham Asylum feeled with the deadliest of Bats arch enemies.
I would have to agree. You want Batman to kill Ra’s in the end, just because he is so unrelenting. But that is such a core value, you hate to see such a major piece taken out by Hollywood. Keeping Magneto around in the X-men movies was beneficial, I would love to see the Joker get captured and used as a background villain in future films.
I hope so too. With Rhas Al Ghoul, though, even in the comiic books, he can’t die- Liam Neeson’s Rhas even implied as much with a line in the movie. I hope they don’t kill The Joker.
At the same time, I hope the focus remains on developing Batman as a character, which is where the other movies strayed. Nolan did an amazing job balancing Batman Begins with developing character and action, I hope he continues to do so with The Dark Knight and additional movies. From what he has said recently about the Harvet Dent/ Batman relationship being the backbone of the movie, it sounds like he has the charcters in mind. I find this as exciting as anything I have seen in the previews.
God, I wish I could’ve afforded to go see I Am Legend in Imax! It’s nt fair! ;_;
Adjectives fail me on how much I cannot wait to see this movie. One of my fist thoughts after seeing Batman Begins, even before I left the theater was “man, the next one’s gonna kick ass.”
>:D
