[UPDATE: It's finally online! Check out the brand new Dark Knight trailer here!]
I just saw the six minute opening from The Dark Knight. In IMAX.
Oh. My. God.
Between the giant screen, the crystal clarity and the content of the short film I was in nirvana and wishing like hell that the movie would continue on.
I think The Dark Knight is going to freaking ROCK.

Sorry about the overuse of colorful metaphors, but I was that blown away by the damned thing.
I’m getting ready to turn in so I won’t make this too lengthy, but I can tell you that for about the first three minutes it felt more like one of the Bourne movies than a superhero flick. In tone, quality, pacing… everything.
We get to see both how super-smart the Joker is through his detailed planning of a bank heist and how cold-blooded and devious through the multi-level elimination of those who might share in the loot.
If you have any concerns about Heath Ledger portraying the Joker, be at ease. I don’t know what else to tell you.
I only hope that Warner Bros. makes this available onliine before the movie opens so you can experience (partially, due to no IMAX), what I did tonight.
I am now officially anticipating The Dark Knight just as much as Iron Man, and that’s saying a lot.
The Dark Knight opens on July 18, 2008.

I couldn’t agree more about the pacing and tone of that 6 minute prologue. It was easily the best teaser I’ve seen for a movie. Too bad we’re still months away from the release date
And too bad the IMAX I went to sucked ass. It wasn’t a true IMAX screen to begin with and the film was all off centered. Thus WB really should release the TDK prologue on the net for everyone to see. We got some free movie passes from the theater manager at least, but it still sucked.
BTW… I Am Legend was great!
I’m getting more and more excited about this.
I had a sneek peek at the copied trailer online and it had everything that I want from a Batman film, and it’s only two minutes long.
God bless Christopher Nolan!!

WELCOME TO THE DARK SIDE VIC.
I TOLD ALL OF YOU THAT DARK NIGHT WAS GOING TO KICK ASS.BUT I DO NOT WANT PEOPLE TO GET THE WRONG IDEA I LOVE IRONMAN BET WHEN IT COMES TO BATMAN F**K IM.
I loved it, too. How about how the Joker quietly set up the bank patrons for disaster? I don’t want to spoil it, but he’s a sick dude! I guess my one complaint is the dialogue is a little stilted, but it’s a superhero movie, and that’s what we expect!

I can’t wait to see this!
Vic,did they just cut right to the chase with the film or did they do like an opening title/credits sequence, which,IMO,would be dumb cuz they would be wasting 3 minutes of 6 minute footage with something you’re going to see in the movie anyway.
It went right into the short film. No credits or anything to let you know what it was.
Vic
They had the WB and Legendary Pictures logo, followed by smoke or fog that became the Batman logo, then BAM!
heath
Cool, thanx guys! I figured they’d do something like that. The footage WILL be in the film, right? So I’ll be able to see it when the film comes out (cuz the nearest IMAX is pretty damn far away),right guys? It IS the first SIX minutes (after the opening credits of course, cuz Hans Zimmer PROMISED a “traditional” opening title sequence cuz Batman will have “earned it” for part 2) of the film, correct guys?
Thanks for the help!
My understanding is that it is the opening to The Dark Knight, yes.
Vic
Tattered Hoody has arrived with a goody.
Wouldn’t you rather the IMAX experience ?
If so, follow me.
Give my name a click. You’ll be glad you did.
That which does not kill you only makes you stranger.
Just saw a dodgy copy of this online.
Wow!!!!!
It reminds me, very much of the bank heist in Heat.
It’s got the same get in, get out vibe.
Anyone else agree??
Niall
I saw that, too. I had forgotten it’s a (SPOILER WARNING)…
…mobster bank, which makes it even crazier.
Heath
Heath, exactly. That’s how crazy the Joker is in this.
Vic
Ya, i have to fully agree! I saw a crappy version on youtube, but holy cow! I have been saying since i first saw the teaser that this movie was gonna be awsome. I thought the bus smashing in to the guy was kinda campy, but who cares, right. Batman rocks, and i think iron man and batman are gonna be the bread and butter for hollywood this year. i have a question, does anyone know if there are gonna be other villains popping up, like penguin or selina kyle?
Any other villains? God, I hope not. Too many villains ALWAYS spoil a movie.
Regarding Youtube: I make it a point NEVER to watch a trailer for the first time in that cruddy format. What a lousy way to first see a trailer.
