There’s a movie coming out June 23rd starring Antonio Banderas and Morgan Freeman called The Code. It never had a theatrical release and based on what I’ve heard it seems kind of odd this went straight to DVD. It’s averaging 6/10 at IMDB and my buddy Ed from ComingSoon.net commented that he thought it was good enough to warrant a spin on the big screen.
The film was previously called Thick as Thieves and while The Code sounds cooler, if they didn’t have enough faith to release this theatrically I don’t know why the bothered with a title change.
Anyway, I just thought I’d put this on your radar screen in case you might be interested.

Here’s the official synopsis:
“While pulling a down-and-dirty jewelry heist on a subway train, Gabriel (Antonio Banderas) encounters Ripley (Morgan Freeman), a legendary thief who was casing the same job. In spite of Gabriel’s initial reluctance, Ripley manages to rope him into an impossible job: the theft of two priceless Faberge Imperial Eggs from the heavily guarded vault of a New York diamond wholesaler. The stakes rise for Gabriel and Ripley when Ripley’s goddaughter (Rhada Mitchell) is kidnapped by the KGB. Staying one step ahead of the NYPD, the FBI, the diamond merchants and the vicious Russian KGB crime boss determined to have the priceless eggs for himself, Gabriel and Ripley must find a way to pull off the heist and make it out alive.”

My cousin saw this somewhere in europe last month… He was telling me about it and he said it was pretty good but it did seem more as a rental then a big screen release. I’ll probably rent it depending on the extras of the blu-ray…
That garnered zero interest from me..Too bad because I really like Morgan Freeman..
What’s up with all these trailers with no words? Before this year, I don’t think I’ve ever seen one a trailer where the actors are talking but you don’t hear the words. Anyway, this doesn’t look like something I would buy nor rent; I might see it when it comes to cable.
Just by the brief description, it had me excited to see it. I’m a huge fan of Antonio B. anyway, and Morgan is an excellent actor too, so just that there are two good actors in it is enough to pull it off for me. I”m anxious to see it.
