A new image from this year's The Batman offers the best look yet at Robert Pattinson's Batsuit. Touted by many as one of the most anticipated films of 2022, Matt Reeves' The Batman is slated to premiere in March. It's been delayed a handful of times due to the coronavirus pandemic, but that has ultimately only led to increased excitement from fans. The Batman, while a DC movie, is set within its own continuity outside the DCEU and focuses on a Bruce Wayne within his second year of being Gotham's vigilante. As a series of murders rock the city, Bruce must put his detective skills to the test to find who is responsible.
As anyone who has seen a Batman trailer knows, it's the Riddler (Paul Dano) who has seen fit to terrorize the members of Gotham's elite. He is poised to be the movie's main villain, though he's far from the only rogue present. The Batman also includes the Penguin (Colin Farrell) and Carmine Falcone (John Turturro), as well as Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz). Luckily, Bruce also has a few key allies on his side between Commissioner Gordon (Jeffrey Wright) and Alfred (Andy Serkis).
With the new year now officially under way and The Batman just a mere two months from release, Rolling Stone has unveiled a new image from the film as part of its 2022 movie preview. The new image is a high-def peek at Pattinson in his rain-soaked Batsuit. Fans have received more than a few glimpses of his Batman costume in recent months, but this is one of the clearest images to emerge yet. Check it out below.
Pattinson's Batsuit was first revealed back in February 2020, just ahead of The Batman's production start. The red-hued image was eagerly dissected and praised by fans, and the excitement over seeing Pattinson in costume hasn't diminished since. There was some apprehension from fans when the Twilight actor was first cast, but it's safe to say he has already proved the naysayers wrong. Not only has Pattinson received a great deal of acclaim from his cast members, but the hype around The Batman has shown a lot of people are excited to see how this pans out.
As a movie separate from the DCEU, The Batman has an opportunity to create its own style and world. Its gritty nature has already drawn some comparisons to Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, but it's clear Reeves is taking his Bruce down a different path. Pattinson's Batsuit is unique, distinct, and says a lot about his iteration of the character. It'll be very interesting to see how The Batman chooses to depict the iconic superhero; so far, things are looking pretty great.
