Much like Batman vs. Superman had a few scenes shot early, before principal photography was set to begin, The Avengers: Age of Ultron is also getting a head start on a certain location shot. Recent reports put writer and director Joss Whedon alongside cast members Jeremy Renner and Paul Bettany visiting London’s Shepperton Studios for meetings and costume tests in preparation for the beginning of shooting this March but with a large amount of shooting taking place in various locations around the world, a part of The Avengers 2 will be filmed tomorrow.

Specifically Whedon and co. will be in Johannesburg, South Africa, using the city to represent itself for the first 10 minute of the film. We don’t yet know who is involved in the scenes, but previous rumors hinted that the intro of The Avengers 2 might focus on one of the film’s secondary villains and newcomers Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch.

The news comes from SA Breaking News who warn local residents to be prepared for road closures during the filming. And as fans who closely followed any of the Marvel movie productions to date know, that means we can expect a pile of unofficial set photos to begin hitting online. Previous rumors and hopeful speculation had fans possibly seeing the fictional Marvel Comics nation of Wakanda, home of Black Panther, finally being introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but as we now know, the South African shoot is using real-life locations to represent just that.

Warning: We’re going to briefly discuss potential spoilers below the poster.

Piecing together more recent reports, we have more evidence to suggest that if the South African shoot is the first 10 minutes of the film, than we may see German actor Thomas Kretschmann on location, suited up as Baron Wolfgang von Strucker.  Some rumors had siblings Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) working with him at the start of the film so we might get our first look at them as well before they join The Avengers.

Adding to our theory, the report explains that Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, and Scarlett Johansson will not be present. Could Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye be there on a mission? Is that why he was meeting with Joss Whedon last week?

We also know that Age of Ultron will be shooting at locations in Italy and Korea, the former of which will have scenes in and around Northern Italy’s Fort Bard – which looks very suitable for scenes involving von Strucker but we may find out more tomorrow when shooting begins.

The majority of principal photography will take place on stages and sets at Shepperton in London, where Marvel Studios previously shot Captain America: The First Avenger, Thor: The Dark World and Guardians of the Galaxy – and where Disney will shoot Star Wars: Episode 7 after The Avengers 2, beginning in May.

  1. Black Panther should not be too Far. :)

    • Exactly. Of all the rumors about casting and this one slips by. Who is playing the Black Panther? Please be Chiwetel Ejiofor or Edi Gathegi.

      • How crap, Edi Gathegi would be cool as hell.

        • @ Bat-Mite
I like both choices. I did not think about Edi Gathegi at all but I definitely think that you have just made a Very Good Call!!! :)

      • Edi Gathegi has already played the role of Darwin in X men first class so i think its not advisable to play two roles in the marvel universe but Chiwetel Ejiofor will do.

        • @Mukti Swaroop Pradhan
My dream is that Chiwetel becomes a Jedi in Star Wars. If he does, then his schedule could interfere with Marvel’s… but you are right for what you said about Edi. :)

        • Different franchise, different studio, different timeline, different time period.

Also, his part was minor, he was killed off and is still a good choice IMO.

        • What about Chris Evans? Was that advisable?

        • You mean like playing both Captain America and Johnny Storm???

        • Remember Darwin died from some B.S. attack. So that frees up the actor. Plus, it’s not the same Marvel universe. Chris Evans did it! I think it would be a great “Ehf YOU” to Fox for killing him off. Edi Gathegi as Black Panther? Why not?

      • @ Batmite: Chitwetel Ejifor is a great option, might I also suggest Chadwick Boseman (42), Aldis Hodge (Leverage), and even David Oyellowo ( Redtails, Planet of the Apes, Lincoln, Jack Reacher, and The Butler to which he played a BP activist).

    • Mehcad Brooks should play Black Panther.

  2. Wonder if we see Don Cheadle tomorrow? Fully expect him to have a precense early in the film

  3. Here’s hoping we see some sort of hint at Black Panther

  4. And so it begins…
The start of production of the movie that could be the biggest super-hero movie of 2015, as well as a parade of leaked filming amateur shots by plans here and there and everywhere (which means more rumors and discussions hahaha)

    • I mean ‘fans’ not ‘plans’… yikes
Oh, and I hope at leeeeast Wakanda is mentioned ;)

  5. Thats a super cool poster

    • You took the words right out of my mouth and slapped me right upside the head with them for not being the first to say it…but you are right, that poster does really “rock the casbah”!

And wouldn’t it be neat, as long as they are filming in the right neighborhood for it, if Black panther was alluded to?!

  6. I can’t wait to see Ultron “break” The Avengers!

  7. They’re clearly filming in South Africa so that it can continue to represent Mega-City One on film. It’s a Judge Dredd/Marvel crossover movie.

  8. ”Warning: We’re going to briefly discuss posters.”
Am I misunderstanding, or was Posters supposed to be spoilers?

  9. I thought they were still casting? Doesn’t Captain Marvel still have to be cast?

    • She isn’t confirmed to be in the movie yet.

  10. whatever happened to “theavenger”, he lives in SA, maybe he could glean some info.

    • @Jeffro
True that. Hopefully it is being filmed in his Area. He usually brings Brilliant Argument and Insight in the Comment Section. :)

      • Haven’t seen him on the board in forever. My money is on him giving us the first unofficial set pics lol

  11. Would make sense to have Hawkeye on recon/mission so it explains why he’s know where to be seen in Cap:winter soldier.

  12. Chris Hemsworth was seen jogging there.

  13. That fan poster is much better than the official posters Marvel Studios puts out. Hopefully the movie is much better than the first…

    • Wouldn’t be too difficult to make a movie better than the first one.

  14. In a perfect world, we’d see a scene involving Cap, Nick Fury, and Black Panther at the end of The Winter Soldier, followed by an appearance by T’Challa in this apparent “007″ style opening at the beginning of Age Of Ultron….

    I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

    • would be dope to see a team up movie with black panther

      • I thought it was real neat so had to feature it!

  15. That is a wicked poster!

    • it absolutey is!

  16. Lol!! They’re shooting in Johannesburg so I’m 99% sure it has nothing to do with Black Panther.

  17. I hope Quicksilver’s costume is closer to the comics & not like how he is in X-Men:DOFP.

    • They don’t have to try to hard to be better.

  18. Why has he got the Tesseract, isn’t back on Asgard? it was used to rebuild the bifrost.

    • It’s Ultron, he probally could get the Tesseract where ever it might be if he wanted to.

    • Fan poster.

  19. the poster looks dope, but it reminds me of another movie i can’t think of which one

    • Transformers Dark Of the Moon?

  20. My money says they’ll be talking about this fantastic new supercomputer that is intelligent enough to predict threats to shield before they occur.

    • AKA The Clairvoyant perhaps? … HMMMMMM ???

  21. With the Roster they have I don’t see how they can beat Ultron (Depending on what his armor is made our of)

    Captain America (Leader)
    Iron Man (Second in Command)
    Thor (Third in Command)
    Black Widow
    Hawk Eye
    War Machine

I think Quick Silver and Scarlet Witch should be Villians

    • Don’t forget the German bad guy. I think Wolfgang? I’m not sure but he’s there with his satans claw. Also

The overlords of movitry have said Thanos will be in both guardians and ultron, now the odds he’s just in the post credits scene of ultron like the first avengers are likely but he could show up in the actual movie. If that’s the case and there is a round 1 for Thanos in this movie than it’s in another level of threat for the heros. I personally believe after all hail the king were heading for another earth bound avengers where the ten rings, hydra, aim, hammer, and others join forces together. Than again I could easily be wrong.

    • They have a Hulk!

  22. What age is Ultron, 2?

    • Age of Ultron is the official name of The Avengers sequel if that’s what you’re asking.

      • I gleaned a mildly sarcastic “How old is Ultron, then?” type of comment from him.

  23. I don’t think we will see Black Panther in this film. We might get the introduction of Wakanda. Remember that Ultron has many robot bodies where he can transfer himself but he creates a body made of Adamantium. I don’t know if they can use this term or they will come up with a body made of nanomaterials combined with diamonds.

    • Or perhaps his suit will be made of vibranium and he will go to Wakanda to get it!

  24. In the comics has Magneto ever tangled with Ultron? I would imagine Magneto would win in under 10 seconds if Ultron is made of metal…

Couldn’t Hulk just bearhug Ultron, jump over a volcano and throw him in and melt him?

  25. @ Rob Keyes,

Hey is that pic of Ultron sitting at the Lincoln memorial courtesy of this movie?

If so, as we all know, Abraham Lincoln served when the nation was divided during Civil War. Could that pic be a hint that Ultron will serve as catalyst to civil war? Or “a house divided…” as Lincoln put it.

    • And when I say Civil War, I mean either like the story arc from comics OR maybe a world war type scenario. Could be cool story line. A world war 3 scenario in Phase 3 could be in line here because of all the terrorist attacks in phase 2. Then Ultron causes sides to form and heroes no both sides.

    • I also noticed Cap’s shield at the bottom of the memorial. COuld it be alluding to the assassination of Cap at end of Phase 2?

    • Ummm…I guess I should have read better…I saw that the pic is fan made. OOPS!

  26. I thought of Black Panther immediately. I hope they have some awesome surprises in the movie though. Don’t want them to reveal too much.

  27. Idris Elba
