The $6 Million Dud: Bionic Woman’s Ratings Plunge

bionicwoman1 The $6 Million Dud: Bionic Womans Ratings PlungeVic didn’t like Bionic Woman, and to be honest, I keep missing it, due to work. You can catch reruns of the show on the Sci Fi Channel, Friday nights, I believe, at 7 PM EST. Anyway, overnight ratings have come back and the Bionic Woman has taken a 30% plunge since last week. Could this heavily hyped NBC show be the first casualty of the 2007-08 season?

Personally, I think they should have placed the show as the follow-up to the immensely popular Heroes. I feel that this would have benefited the show about a woman who gains powerful, robotic legs, arm, eye and ear following an accident. As it is, Journeyman is enjoying the post-Heroes time slot.

Even Deadline Hollywood Daily’s Nikki Finke predicted that Bionic Woman would bomb and be taken off the air pretty fast. It’s not looking good for the show.

I’m going to try and see at least the pilot and the most recent episode, because I’m curious if it’s even worth my hoping for a stay of cancellation. But from what Vic and my friends, who love shows like this, have said, I’m not holding my breath. And too bad, because a dark revision of a classic show sounded very cool. When I was younger, I loved watching both The Six Million Dollar Man and Bionic Woman, plus the TV movies in the 1980s.

  1. Next time, can you post a spoiler warning so those who haven’t seen it yet won’t have it ruined, please?

    Thanks! :-)

  2. sorry, my bad heath.

  3. No prob, Montgomery. Maybe what you said will make the show better, because a lot of my friends don’t care for it.

  4. Bionic Woman may be failing or not (even with the drop in ratings, it’s still doing pretty well for NBC), but the 2007-2008 season had its first casualty before Bionic Woman ever premiered. FOX dumped Nashville after just 2 episodes.

  5. I heard Nashville was likely to be the first. I also hear ratings are down across the board for new shows vs. last year and definitely for 2005/06.

  6. Man, I just LOVE it when I’m proven right. 😀

  7. that’s too bad. i really liked the show with ryan. though i wasn’t born when the original was made, i would watch the original whenever they would show it on tv. i’m a big fan.
