It would be fair to say that Terminator Salvation is one of the most anticipated films of the next eight months (it made number four on Screen Rant‘s Most Anticipated Movies Of 2009 list). Not only does it have all those fans of the original films (mainly the first and second, not so much the third) looking forward to it, but it’s a big-budget action film, the type which always draws in mass audiences.
To add just a little more gasoline to the fire of anticipation, today we have three brand spanking new TV spots for your viewing pleasure:
Although they’re only TV spots and don’t really give us anything new that we haven’t seen before, it’s still always cool to see them arranged in different ways. Each of those three spots strangely give off a different feel from each other, making it seem almost like it was completely different people who put them together.
The second one is definitely the strongest, with that music giving it a particularly nice feel. However, TV spots are never that representative of how the final film is going to turn out, mainly because they’re relatively short and therefore try and cram as much in there as possible, even if comprehensibility is somewhat sacrificed.
I have very high hopes for this newest installment in the Terminator franchise, not only because, well, it’s a Terminator movie, but also that one of my favorite actors, Christian Bale, is starring in the lead role. I’m sure I wasn’t the only one to feel extremely shocked when we first heard Bale was going to play John Connor, and is it just me or did that give the film a bit more credibility than it had before he was announced?
It certainly inspired more confidence than McG being behind the camera…
There’s always a chance a big-budget, action-orientated film such as this could dissapoint (I’m looking at a certain other robot action flick… not naming names, mind you), but from all that we’ve seen from Terminator Salvation so far, that doesn’t look likely.
What do you think of the latest TV spots? Are you one of the many who have their calendar marked for this film?
Terminator Salvation is scheduled to be released on May 21st in the US, and June 3rd in the UK.

You kidding me? Before Bale came along all we knew of this film was that it was an unnecessary sequel to an unnecessary sequel and it was being made by the director of Charlies Angels.
I mean, yes, the hype for this film isn’t attributed entirely to Bale, the film actually looks good and that’s not all Bale, so major props to the underdog, McG, but the casting of Bale was certainly the first ray of light in the dark cloud.
Oh, and just so everyone knows, if you go to the individual youtube pages for these videos, you can view them in HD.
man, i cant wait for this film
Well this is my most anticipated movie of the year, so I’m probably as excited as anyone for this film. Partly because I love the Terminator Franchise(even though 3 was just ok) and partly because Bale is my favorite actor. I actually think the third spot is the best, just because it shows a couple of new shots from the movie I haven’t seen before. But that’s just me.
@Joshi
Actually, there’s a little button at the bottom of each video that says “HD” and you can see the hi-def version right here on Screen Rant.
Vic
Ah, so you can. I never actually started them playing on here, just saw them on their own page so never saw the HD button.
im still a tid-Bit Confuzed .
is this film going as if the the 3rd film Never happend ?
i Love all the Terminator Movies & sum parts of the 3rd one.
but Really DisLike the FOX Series.
anyWay i have High Hopes for this Film.
“WE FINALLY GET TO SEE THE WAR ! “
This one follows on from 3. It’s the Fox show that disregards it.
This is my most anticipated film of the year. I’m a huge fan of T1 and T2. Terminator 3 had a good core plot but got ruined because of several reasons. One of them being the quite uninteresting fight between a female Terminator and Arnie. Of course, that is in comparisson to the amazing battling between Biehn and Arnie in the first film and Patrick and Arnie in the second. I know I have to think deeper than this to love the movie, but it just won’t ever work in my head that Kristanna Loken lifts schwarzenegger and throws him away. It also had to little focus on the plot and too much focus on explosions and stuff. Terminator has a good core plot, which MCG knows and doesn’t seem like he’s afraid to use a lot of in this new film. I believe in MCG after following this project a lot.
good core plot? it contradicted the first two films and even itself, i mean it says that the future is set and you cant change it, so sending a terminator back in time would do nothing
Some of the Endoskeletons I’m seeing in this film look a little video gamey…
I definitely want to see it But the first 2 films were about how we could change the future ourselves ,
this just seems like everything is inevitable and we can do nothing to stop it.
Thats kind of depressing.
I will see it though.
If this is bad, It’s gonna set the tone for the summer. I mean, no hope for Wolverine and Star Trek, I don’t think can say something one way or another, except for itself. But this…this is massive summer vs. decent.
Please be good.
I think out of the 3 big may films, Star Trek will be the winner…
Terminate me, I’m ready!
Totally psyched for this and Star Trek.
Come on summer 2009!
Just clicked on this topic to say I’m not watching the clips.
I know I really want to see the movie so i don’t want to see anymore.
Carry on.
Ditto to what INK said. I find myself agreeing more and more with INK; the world must be coming to an end!
@Joshi
I agree that some of McFlurry’s previous films got me worried when I first heard he was directing, and also since T3 left such a bad taste in my mouth. But honestly, I wish this movie does well for his sake. NOT for Bale’s sake. I’ve always suspected, but lately it’s become very apparent that Christian Bale is completely full of himself. From him having the cops called on him on a possible assault on his own family, mother included, to him never showing up to any of these conventions, not even a courtesy phone call or a recording or anything while the rest of the main cast shows up for all of them, and to him throwing a 10 minute tantrum at someone who did something accidentally, I mean, seriously…
Screw Bale, he’s a good actor, but I have lost all respect for the guy. I’ll still watch his movies, but you won’t be hearing any praise from me.
@Ink
Other than the third clip which has maybe 5-10 seconds of new footage, there isn’t anything new in the clips.
@Ken J
Actually (I hate being the geeky voice of reason) the assault charge was for verbal assault… not that that helps anything. Considering his tirade against that DP, I’m going to assume him yelling at his family was none to pleasant to listen to. But he wasn’t violently attacking his family.
That said, I agree, as good an actor as he is, he is a bit of a dick.
@John “Kahless” Taylor
World’s coming to an end?
How do you know? Did you get a piece of paper with numbers written on it that is 50 years old in a time capsule at your sons school? (“Knowing” reference)
Speaking of which, I really enjoyed that movie. AND I’m glad I saw it before the newest trailers came out this week. They give away some very critical, IMO, aspects and ruin some the mystery of the ENTIRE film.
@Stephen
Nice try bud … I’m not Bitin’
@Joshi
I understand the charges and what they mean. I understand tht if it was a physical attack (where contact was made) it would have been battery, not just assault. But like you said, it doesn’t really make a difference. The fact is he attacked (albeit only verbally) his own family to the degree where the police had to be called. That’s some major disrespect in my opinion.
Oh, also, regardless of if this movie is good or not, it has served its purpose. We have a new uber edition blu ray of T2 coming out because of this movie, woooot.
Oops, forgot to add, in case anyone is a super Terminator geek like I am, they have a “Complete Collectors” bundle which includes the “Skynet Edition” DVD and Blu-ray, Ultimate and Extreme Edition DVDs and two other Terminator discs, I didn’t see what they were, nor do I really care since I have every edition of the Terminator DVD’s released anyhow, lol, AND on top of those 6 discs, it comes with a big metal Terminator skull thing. They have it on preorder at Amazon for like $115. You know I ordered that even though the only new disc for me would be the Skynet Edition lol. I think instead of Complete Collection, it should be called the Ultimate Geek Edition.
@ken j:
it was “verbal assault” (as every one know it now:when he’s angry,he’s really angry!)!whatever! we won’t comeback the same debate (ass**le or not)
he start to promote in magazine(Empire,italian Vanity fair) i believe he doesn’t want to overdose about him!(i don’t know if i’m understandable)because be a lead character in the most anticipated movies of the 2 last years,we’re going to see his name and face everywhere!
and i wait this movie with much much impatience!
@ Ink
Seriously man, if you’ve seen the teaser and the two trailers then there is no new footage except about 5-10 seconds worth in the third clip. Ask Mr. Miller, the guy who wrote the article.
are yall seriously still complaining about that, bale has openly apologized to the DP and even went on the radio to apologize to everyone else(not that he needed to)
Lol, my fanboy senses are tingling.
