There’s never been any question on how I feel about Terminator Salvation. If there was a sample of hype-in-a-bottle failure, it had a McG label on it during the summer.

Our most recent Screen Rant Pick features a humorous and intrepid team of filmmakers that have released what I think could have been a significant (but fake and completely unofficial) additional deleted scene from Terminator Salvation.

The only thing more horrifying than the actual film were the plans to release a “Director’s Cut” DVD and Blu-ray, which had terribly thin features, and no viable commentary. What’s worse, the aforementioned Director’s Cut was a mere 3 minutes longer.

Note to McG: If only 3 minutes and boobs makes your film the definitive “Director’s Cut”, I vote for releasing what you showcased in theaters and then heading home to prepare another Charlie’s Angels entry.

When we cast aside the negatives, collect the value and positive material from Terminator Salvation, we see something that had so much unrealized potential. Just take a look at what the movie COULD’VE been:

Humor has always been a grand tool to soothe disappointment and I think that the puppetry, the over-the-top approach, and (believe it or not) the detail in the second portion (approximating the police staff sergeant) in this clip help to lessen the impact of a disappointing Terminator Salvation. It’s truly worthy of sharing with anyone that’s a Terminator fan.

Tell us what you think of the concept and detail contained here in the discussion area below!

  1. While i actually enjoyed salvation, this is freakin hilarious

  2. Very funny, the film was shockingly bad, and the only thing about it that I liked was the uber cool Arnie moment. I miss him in movies.

  3. I have an idea. Have James Cameron do his own T4 and release a directors cut with Terminator Salvation as the deleted scenes.

  4. t4- lol NOOOO,

james cameron ended terminator with t2. they stopped judgement day. end story

    terminator is complete and masterful.

3 and 4 are not only pointless what ifs , they should not be considered sequels, but rather there own rendition of the same thought.

  5. In a way Rich is right, because each time they are trying to prevent Judgement Day, and 3+4 and the tv show, are alternate versions of this.

  6. I liked the action scenes by themselves in Salvation, but put together with the crappy story it had, it was pretty dumb…

Even the Arnold moment was dumb, but it was still kind of cool because it was young Arnold from T1, lol.

  7. I wasn’t serious, lol. It was just a crack at that idiot McG.

  8. @Ken J, What you said.

It had it’s moments..but not enough of them unfortunately.

rich was right, they never should have made any sequels. T2 was a done deal.

(Just like John Carpenter’s, The Thing. STILL can’t believe they’re remaking that classic!)

  9. that movie had so much potential such a dissapointment.

  10. They better not screw up The Thing…

  11. the only part of salvation that was somewhat decent was arnold cameo, and the look “john connor” had when he saw the t-800, the one decent thing bale did in the terrible movie.

i think the movie should have been more about kyle reese and less about christian bale.

it wouldnt have even been half bad if they followed the ending of t3, where john has to look for other survivors to start the resistance.

  12. I’d hate to burst everyone’s bubble, but T3 and Salvation ARE sequels. lol. sorry :D

  13. OMG, REALLY????????!?!?!?!?!?!?!

    :-D

  14. I dont care what anyone says, I liked and rather enjoyed T4/Salvation. I would have enjoyed T3 much more if they hadnt put in all the comedic spots.

  15. Never saw the last Terminator movie, but this vid was great!

  16. i think terminator salvation is still a great movie to watch even though t1 and t2 is the greatest.Mcg still did a good job to make this movie breath on his own because there are still some of terminator hardcore fans who wanted to know more about the future war, time machine,t800,john connor leadership and skynet.

  17. Hello there,
The main difference between this and the earlier Terminator films is that it lacks a sense of danger.
