Current Sarah Connor actress Linda Hamilton got a shout out from former Sarah Connor actress Lena Headey in celebration of Hamilton's return in Terminator: Dark Fate. Hamilton of course originated Connor in 1984's The Terminator, then reprised the role in 1991's Terminator 2: Judgment Day. The Terminator franchise went on without Hamilton after that, but now the original Connor has returned for the sixth entry in the series.

In the years since Hamilton last played Sarah Connor, two other actresses have taken on the role and coincidentally, both happen to also be stars of HBO's Game of Thrones. Starting in 2008, Cersei Lannister actress Lena Headey played Connor in the short-lived Fox series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which picked up the story of Sarah and her son John after Judgment Day. In 2015, Headey's GoT co-star Emilia Clarke took on the role of Connor for the theatrical sequel Terminator Genisys, but the experience of joining the Terminator franchise was not a happy one for Clarke as she later made clear.

With the original Sarah Connor Linda Hamilton officially back in the role for Terminator: Dark Fate, former Connor actress Lena Headey took to Instagram to throw a little hype Hamilton's way. See Headey's post below:

Hamilton's return to the Terminator franchise after 29 years came as something of a surprise, but fans like Headey are certainly thrilled to have her back as Sarah Connor. But not only is Hamilton back after a long time away from the franchise, so too is James Cameron, who exercised more creative control on Dark Fate after taking a hands-off approach to the last three sequels. As for those sequels, Cameron has made it clear that they no longer count, as Dark Fate is a direct sequel to Judgment Day. For her part, Hamilton dismissed the three movies since Judgment Day as less than memorable.

In addition to Hamilton and Cameron, Arnold Schwarzenegger is of course also back for Dark Fate, which will try to establish a new future for the Terminator franchise by introducing a trio of new characters in Dani Ramos (Natalia Reyes), future soldier Grace (Mackenzie Davis) and a new Terminator (Gabriel Luna) with all new terrifying abilities. The newly released Terminator: Dark Fate teaser trailer gave fans their best look yet at what Cameron, director Tim Miller and company have put together for the sixth entry in the series.

Just going by that teaser trailer, it seems Terminator: Dark Fate will not stray far from the classic Terminator formula, which means there will be a lot of action and probably some memorable one-liners. Even with Cameron back at the controls, it remains to be seen if Dark Fate will ultimately be a real improvement on the trio of forgettable films that followed after the all-time classic Judgment Day.
