Well the only way to let Raphael & Leonardo use their weapons properly most of the time would be to have them slice up robots or have them slice up people but cut away before the blood shots can be shown unless you went the route of having the turtles fight Shedder again (or someone else) who could disarm them before they could use them in a deadly manner. Remember that all the Star Wars films had scenes where the opponent was dismembered by a lighsaber but all of them except one were rated PG and that one was rated PG13. How did they get away with it? Simple they didn't show blood (well they did in the first one but it somehow was overlooked/ignored because it was one time and they never did it again in the film or the rest f ,films). So no blood and very areful and smart camera work and you might be abl to let the turles go wild without having to go full tilt R rated.

They have weapons for a reason. I would like to see them use them. I like watching the turtles kick some shell, but why have weapons if the action scenes wont allow the turtles to be able to cut someone, or even kill someone. I have read the comics and they are not afraid to use there weapons. I get tired of people stripping away the studios rights to be creative and fans forcing them to live in a small box. The 80's and 2k3 cartoons are classic, but they are cartoons they are made for kids. This is the "big screen" lets take the kid friendly theme and throw it out of the window, and break the walls down around the small box and make a tmnt movie. If parents don't wont to bring there kids to the movie because it's too violent then go get one of the tv show dvds. I want a very adult tmnt movie.

If it is any consolation, there was an animated Turtle movie that had 3 generations of the turtles in it. It had the early 90s "cowabunga" turtles who meet up with the late 90s edgy turtles, who then finally meet up with the original mid-80s TMNTs. All three groups of turtles existed in the movie together, all drawn as they were for each time period. They did the original turtles absolutely perfect, dark and gritty, and badass. They ended with the original shot from the very first comic of all the turtles on the building top. I get goosebumps just typing about how awesome that moment was.

Took the words right out my mouth, a darker TMNT is exactly what I've been hoping for. Especially as the producers will have so much dark material to feed on.

Yes!! Please go in a more gritty and darker tone for the live action movie like the direction the Batman reprises have gone. Make it good, don't mess it up like all the other comicbook movies.

I think they should aim for a pg-13 rating! parent's will still let there kids go see it, just because it has the TMNT name!

I'm so GLAD they're gonna do the turtles "real justice" unlike the original movie, which was good, but a little too campy. Thank the stars for Batman Begins for setting the record straight on how comic book properties are to be handled from their original conceptions.

sr, I am well aware of that. I had TMNT curtains, sheets, posters, action figures, a bed spread, book bag, lunch box, calculator, night light, t-shirts, underwear and cereal. I lived and breathed TMNT when I was a kid in the 80's. My point is that everyone wants to use the term "Dark" whenever they deviate from the traditional "kid" themes.

That's disappointing. My kids will be excited to see this if it's TMNT, but if it's too dark we'll steer clear of it just as we've steered clear of Harry Potter.

Ever since the second Batman installment came out and broke the box office, everyone wants to rubber stamp "Dark" on their films. Is this really a selling point? Just make good films and try not to categorize them!

It's supposed to be live-action. A lot of ppl want CGI. I think that would be a horrible idea.

I saw the last CGI movie and just could not care less about anything going on. Just looked goofy.

The first TMNT movie was actually pretty good. Had some serious themes. Some cheesy 80's moments. Just good.

@ogb
Do you know if this film will be live-action just like the original Ninja Turtles trilogy and not like that TMNT animated film?
