response to skater86 (& a Gen. mesg after, w/ good news!)

I believe way back I admitted to not actually reading the comics but I watched a couple of the cartoons, PLUS read a series of his comics. The 'accent' (from the comics, 1 I know he's got a cajun french accent so) therefore the 'from the comics' were not what I heard on the screen nor... (& being I did my homework & searched out Cajun accents in various ways.) regardless I don't care weather from Cartoon or comics (accent I heard while I read it) He did not have much (enough)of an accent but didn't have any 'Gambit-esq' lines either.

(I believe someone mentioned something like this before on here, I agree w/ whoever you are & sorry but If I'm 'stealing' it but also explanding on it)
He goes from a mildly good one (Canjun French sound) to some plain general southern accent to as I belive someone said None at all.

actually if like in the comics how Gambits hair is that spikey look.. if Kitsch were to do the same thing I think he'd look like'em. & that's 1 of the reasons I think he should have the chance for another movie (weather it be his solo or large cast scale (or X4 because if I recall, Gambit would not be around for 'First Class'
Also... If I didn't mention it once before... there WILL be a Gambit movie. well at least IN Development Its slated for 2011 Tehre may be no cast announced yet but here's the imdb link

I heard they were beginning to produce an x4. They were talking about an actual sequel to thex men trilogy. not any more of these prequel/spinoff movies. I got a feeling Gambit's gonna be in that. Maybe they'll introduce sinister or something which would better fit Gambit.

I hope he gets his own spin off after or before x-men 4, I think Jackman shold have a cameo on the movie, because having him as the leader character after X-men 1, X-men 2,X-men 3, Wolverine 1 and 2 it would be enough already, so give a chance to Gambit, or Cyclops, who was messed in all 3 movies, he is the true leader, and definitly should be back,I think NightCrawler, Beast,Colossus and Ice-man should be there wach with a significant role, also Emma Frost and Jubelee, should make an apearance,Storm as Wolverine should have a minor role or a cameo, Jean Gray should be left out for this one, and Xavier should be mentioned on, and could make an appearance at the end, as we know he transfferd his mind to his twin, before "die"

actually how the heck is Taylor Kitsch suppose to do a cajun accent with the what .. 3 lines he had.. (or 10 minutes of face time whichever way you want to put it)

I was obsessed for about 1-2 years waiting for the orings movie to come out...I would have seen it if he weren't in it, but totehr than wolverine.. Gambit is the ONLY other x-man I knew of w/o reading the comics... (no idea how I even knew of the 2)

But with the diologe he was given they didn't write in any Gambit-esq lines. Plus I will also go far enough to say the man studies his ass off on the card tricks & Bo staff... & don't underestimate the Friday Night Lights GIRL fans... of Taylor Trust me you'd have a theater packed between that & real comic fans.. If you like the comics why not just go to the movies even if you DON'T like an actor!!! heck I went to see Twilight even though I read the books & frankly the movie was lame! yes it was pretty true to the book but certain things just were too much or not on par.. & I believe as a society that we have a curiosity to see the images in our heads on tv/big screen & when we see it ..to us is not what we like love ranting on how bad something was in a book we read etc.

For example....

The Vampire diaries.. (a book series by L.J. Smith)
They have actors that look nothing near some of the characters except the 2 salvatores & Matt the jock... The Lead charadcter has had a change.. instead of BLonde hair Lapis Blue eye.. Brunette & brown eyes!! there were 2 best friends (bonnie & Meridith) & the former friend (caroline) that's an enemy in the book... well Bonnie's 'face' is wrong... by description & merideth isn't even in the show (at least not yet) There's anoathe character missing so far & in place was a different which was killed off & yes I KNEW the tv series was LOOSELY based on the book.. but parts of it are horrible.. why do I keep watching.. because when I get all frustrated & want to change the channel.. there's Damon Salvatore played by Ian SOmerhalder who to me plays a more "wicked, nastier, sarcastic, Vanomously Vicious more savage" version than that of damon in the book!

Give Taylor his OWN movie & I'm sure he'll be down in New Orleans trying to get the accent.. (or maybe we can get Ian SOmerhalder born in Louisiana to help him out??)

I am looking forward to, and hoping for a Gambit spin-off. I think it would be a great opportunity for Liev Schreiber to further his role in the "de-evolution of Sabertooth" that takes place in between the events from X-Men Origins: Wolverine to the first X-Men film (Tyler Mane's Sabertooth character). I also think that a Gambit spin-off could be what's needed as X-Men 4 is being prepared (since X4 won't happen until after "First Class," a Gambit spin-off can put a focus back on the modern group of X-Men that we were left with by the end of "The Last Stand." If X4 takes place sans Wolverine (or if he has a reduced role), then this can be filmed sooner than later (with Wolverine 2 and potentially 3 on the horizon, a Wolverine-involved X-Men sequel might never take place).

Gambit's involvement would team him up with the core of Colossus, Rogue, Ice-Man, Shadowcat, Beast, Storm, and perhaps the return of Emma Frost. Perhaps Wolverine can bring him back himself as he did become his first actual acquaintance post-memory loss.

For those questioning the character's age, Origins: Wolverine's Gambit wouldn't be much older than the X-Men franchise's Cyclops or Emma Frost would be.

Ideally, this would be a great opportunity. But unfortunately, it will likely never see the light of day.

ok...so i read this and i just can't see were you think gambit as a accent in the comic...the word are the same until certain word but other then that he doesn't really have an accent...so then i got to thinking maybe your one of these people that just watched the show and think that exactly the way the comic is (which it's not) their way off, so the accent thing to me was pretty good. i how he played the part was how i always pictured gambit so i want that movie, it could be so bad ass and how he loves the character, i think he would try and say as close to how that character should be played and it would be so sweet.

@ greenknight333,

Just to be clear, lol - We ALL wanted a good movie.

We didn't get one, but we should of at least got to see our favorites on screen, we didn't get that done properly either.

The change of accents is a tricky thing.

It can be Taylor's weakness, true, but can just as easily be an editing thing. It's his first time performing Gambit and Gambit even being on screen, s I'm sure he was experimenting with different accents. Could just as easily happen that while editing, somebody just combined those different accents without taking notice because really, the focus was making Hugh look good more then anything (not that Hugh is hard on the eye because he definitely isn't).

I honestly think that had the role been bigger, more attention would be paid to this and therefore the accent would've been evened out. But that's just me, I like to believe in good in people.

I honestly think that had the role been bigger, more attention would be paid to this and therefore the accent would’ve been evened out. But that’s just me, I like to believe in good in people.

@Rob...

I don't remember them calling Gambit the Ragin' Cajun in the movie at any point. I could be mistaken though. If not, it's not the first time that Fox has taken liberties with a well established character.

Gambit is my second favorite character after Wolverine. I thought that Taylor Kitch brought a lot to the character and I noticed that they didn't give him a lot of dialog or long sentences where his lack of an accent would really stand out. I'm pretty sure they knew he wasn't ready but they wanted him there and it was great to see him.

I agree with you, he needs voice training for that character or else how he dresses, where he lives, how he makes his living will become a parody of the real Gambit. I'm glad he wasn't wearing that head gear though.

@moneyshot

Josh Holloway would be great but this Gambit needs to get a little older first and I'd like to see more Taylor in that role. As far as facial features go, his was a great match.

Did I miss any comments about Deadpool having more powers in the movie than he did in the comic? And unlike the comic, I hope that they'll let Ryan Reynold keep his hair when he's "out of uniform".

In the Gambit spinoff first he needs to burn that hat, then get a decent accent or new actor who can handle a somewhat Cajun accent, and then get the adamantium staff.
