Warner Bros. adds five new movies to its instant streaming library on Facebook -- which already included 'The Dark Knight' -- including 'Harry Potter 1' & '2' and Inception.

Adds More Films to Its Streaming Movie Facebook Library" width="532" height="352" />

The fast-paced world of digital video rentals has all but been dominated by Netflix at this point. Sure, there are other ways to rent movies and television shows online – iTunes, Hulu, Amazon, even the near extinct Blockbuster – but you rarely (if ever) hear someone say, “Guess what just hit Amazon Instant Video!”

That said, there are those people who exist that wouldn’t leave Facebook if they didn’t have to. If it were possible, they’d have Facebook everything, from email to music to videogames to movies. Fortunately for those people, Warner Bros. is expanding its Facebook movie rental library with five additional films.

That library, which previously only included The Dark Knight, will now include such studio hits as <a title="Watch the First Two Harry Potters on Facebook" href="http://www.facebook.com/harrypottermovie?sk=app_208758265817017" ...

Click to continue reading Warner Bros.
One true classic and a few not-so-classic films hit DVD and Blu-ray this week. Next week has one of the best collections of new and old releases on the home video market, but until then, some lighthearted films will keep you entertained.

A massive box office bust (How Do You Know) and a box office surprise (Yogi Bear) go up against an A-lister romantic thriller (The Tourist) and the first alien invasion movie of the season (Skyline). But the release to own this week is the Blu-ray re-release of Stand By Me.

Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher’s No Strings Attached topped the box office over the weekend with a decent $20.3 million debut. The R-rated comedy surpassed the start of recent adult-themed comedies, a major factor in this was more than likely Portman’s Black Swan publicity blitz.

As the ball dropped in Times Square and people everywhere sang inebriated versions of “Auld Lang Syne”, it marked the end of a lukewarm movie year. With 557 movies released in 2010, some of them were truly good and others were excruciatingly bad. People could argue all day about what makes a movie truly bad, but thankfully we have the 31st annual Golden Raspberry Awards to help us sort the chaff from the wheat.

Although the official list of nominees won’t release until January 24th, the L.A.

This week:

The Little Fockers show True Grit at the box office; Andrew Garfield goes from Spider-Man to Michael Mann in Capa alongside Gemma Arterton; Saw creators open Insidious on April Fool’s Day and Total Recall moves from Mars to Toronto.

Box Office

It was a close race over the weekend for the number one spot but it looks like Little Fockers will top the chart with an estimated $26.3 million for a total gross of $103 million. It appears that people are just too busy at Christmas to read reviews. That can be the only reason for the Fockers having two weeks at the top, right?

Jeff Bridges was in the runner-up position with True Grit. The Coen Brothers film upped its domestic total to $86.8 million after grossing $24.5 million over the weekend, giving the pair their highest grossing film ever. More gold awaits.

The box office meets the Little Fockers; we learn about the Madden Curse; Screen Gems asks About Last Night; Phillip Noyce cuts down on Salt; Christian Bale is a Nanjing Hero and Christina Hendricks, Olivia Munn and Seth Meyers don’t know how Sarah Jessica Parker Does It.

Box Office

The Focker family were the box office champions over the weekend. Little Fockers, the third film in the “Meet The…” franchise banked an estimated $34 million over the weekend (read our review). The Ben Stiller starrer has now scored $48 million since its launch last week. The grosses aren’t amazing for this pricey comedy, but it should be profitable in the end for Universal.

1.	Tron captures the top spot; Bill Pullman moves to Torchwood; AMC has Hell on Wheels; Legendary Pictures and Paul Greengrass won’t experience Jimi Hendrix; Nick Cassavetes knows the life of John Gotti; Ridley and Tony Scott read A Conspiracy of Paper; Sarah Jessica Parker, Halle Berry and Zac Efron celebrate New Year’s Eve; Syfy Ventures and Universal Pictures birth Syfy Films; Ron Howard talks Stephen King’s The Dark Tower; Ethan Hawke has an Exit Strategy for his movie career and Mila Kunis moves from the Black Swan to The Teddy Bear.

Box Office

Tron: Legacy won the belt of box office champion. The highly promoted and belated sequel to the ‘80s film grossed an estimated $43.6 million over the weekend. With a production budget somewhere in the region of $150-200 million, it’s safe to assume that the film will need good legs and strong international grosses to break even. ...

Click to continue reading Weekend Movie News Wrap Up: December 19th 2010

Despite the fact that 'Yogi Bear' has plenty of flaws, it's a movie aimed squarely at the 10 and under crowd - but with far fewer childish jokes and sight gags than one would imagine.

Screen Rant’s Paul Young reviews Yogi Bear

Every trailer, poster or movie still leading up to the release of Yogi Bear had me firmly convinced this movie would be juvenile, uninspired and unfunny – so imagine my surprise when it actually ended up showing some charm.

Don’t misunderstand me, director Eric Brevig hasn’t created some new masterpiece of cinema – but he does know who’s in his target audience and how to pander to them intelligently. It was quite refreshing to watch a children’s film that doesn’t to resort to poop jokes, crotch shots or inappropriate behavior to illicit laughs from those under the age of ten. Far too many times films marketed to younger kids insert scenes which make the parent in me cringe – thankfully there are no such scenes ...

Click to continue reading Yogi Bear Review

Seven minutes of footage from 'Yogi Bear' has been released. Will this live-action/CGI hybrid offer anything for those above the age of 10?

Let’s face it – little kids are gonna love Yogi Bear. Why? Because it’s a movie in which a cartoon bear wears a hat and tie, speaks in a goofy voice, is continually smacked in the face with pies and flying picnic baskets, and will likely have committed close to 1,000 over-the-top pratfalls by the time the end credits start to roll.

Seven minutes of footage from Yogi Bear has been released and you’re likely here to watch it because you need to know if you can survive 82 minutes of this. In 3D. In an actual movie theater that’s populated primarily by individuals under the age of 10 and their committed parents.

A third trailer for 'Yogi Bear' re-hashes a lot of what we've already seen and proves that this CGI/live-action hybrid film is strictly for the kids.

A lot of people have been complaining about this new Yogi Bear movie, which merges live-action with CGI characters in order to bring the popular Hann-Barbera cartoon to life in the very same vein as Scooby-Doo or The Chipmunks have already.

Of course, those same people always assert that their beloved childhood cartoons should be spared from Hollywood’s exploitative touch, so they will probably spiral further down into despair when they see this latest Yogi Bear trailer.

Now, the second Yogi Bear trailer was pretty thin on story (read: there wasn’t one), instead opting to throw a series of hijinks and gags at us in the hope that we would be amused. And, if I was a six-year-old boy again, I might’ve been.

This new trailer is basically a re-hash that also fails ...

Click to continue reading ‘Yogi Bear’ Trailer #3: A Movie Strictly for the Kids

A new trailer has been released for 'Yogi Bear,' an adaptation of the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon that will feature a mix of live-action humans and CG bears - all in 3D.

Nobody really asked for a 3D film version of the Yogi Bear cartoon that features the vocal talents of Dan Aykroyd or Justin Timberlake – but that is exactly what moviegoers will get this December.

A second trailer has been released for Yogi Bear, the titular star who made his debut as a side character on the cartoon The Huckleberry Hound Show back in 1958. The picnic-basket-loving bear was given his own TV series three years later and has since become one of the most famous characters created by Hanna-Barbera Productions.

Fast forward to 2010 and now Yogi Bear (voice of Aykroyd) and his companion Boo Boo (Timberlake) have been brought to life in a motion picture via the magic of modern-day computer technology. Joining the animated critters in the film will ...

Click to continue reading 2nd Trailer For ‘Yogi Bear’ Is Mostly Harmless

Summertime and all that easy living is now done, and unless you’re one of those people who lives where the sun is always shining then the onset of Fall means four things: colder weather, earlier sunsets, heavier clothing and movies galore.

Yes, the summer has all those big blockbusters we’ve been waiting all year to see, but Fall is the time when we actually want to be in the movie theater: when being outdoors is no longer an attractive alternative and the cinema offers many, many, award-worthy films. A few of them even stand the chance of being pretty good.

Of course the Fall movie landscape has been changing pretty radically in the last few years: September is now a “showcase for unique genre films” instead of just a studio dumping ground ; ...

Click to continue reading Screen Rant’s 2010 Fall Movie Preview

It’s time again for us to round up all those movie posters that have hit The Web recently. This Friday’s round-up includes posters for some of the most highly anticipated and discussed movies on the horizon:

Resident Evil: Afterlife, Piranha 3D, Saw 3D, Legend of the Guardians, Buried, Monsters, The Town, The Last Exorcism, Due Date, The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn and Yogi Bear (okay maybe that last one isn’t that anticipated…).

We also have a limited edition art poster for Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, which opens today, and a poster for the re-release of Avatar.

So let’s get to it, shall we?

There hasn’t been much information released regarding Warner Bros. upcoming live-action/CGI mixed movie, Yogi Bear, since the first announcement of the film back in 2008. Now Yahoo! Movies has the first exclusive look at the official poster and honestly, it isn’t that bad.

Really though, the look of Yogi and his sidekick Boo-Boo was never in doubt – the story, however, was. Animation technology has reached such a the level that there is never an excuse for a serious studio to ever fall behind in that area, but just like every other film out there (animated or not), if the story is crap then so too is the film.

This could be our first glimpse of Yogi Bear in the wild.

Slash Film has linked to a set of images that could reveal the general look of the character as he’d appear in the upcoming live action/CGI Yogi Bear feature film, based on the Hanna-Barbera cartoon.

It’s been nearly four months since Dan Aykroyd, Anna Faris, and Justin Timberlake were cast in the film and we’re definitely hungry for news on the project. The pictures certainly look legit, though we’re obviously suspicious of the timing .

Should it turn out they’re actually fake, Warner Bros. needs to get in contact with whoever created the images – and put them to work.

If the images are to be believed, it appears that Warner Bros. has done a terrific job of creating believable character ...

Click to continue reading First Yogi Bear Images?

Ever since a live-action, 3D Yogi Bear movie was announced back in February this year, there hasn’t really been any movement on the news front regarding it. However, fast forward to now and we may have our main cast in the form of Dan Aykroyd, Anna Faris and Justin Timberlake.

Aykroyd is in negotiations to voice the titular character in Yogi Bear, with Faris set to play a nature documentarian who follows the antics of Yogi in the fictional Jellystone Park. Timberlake is also in talks to join the project, possibly playing Yogi’s sidekick, Boo-Boo. The film is being directed by Eric Brevig (Journey To The Center of the Earth), and produced by Donald De Line and Karen Rosenfelt as a live-action/CGI hybrid in the vein of Alvin and the Chipmunks and Garfield (aim ...

Click to continue reading ‘Yogi Bear’ Adds Aykroyd, Faris & Timberlake

For those of you following the troubled development of Seth Rogen’s upcoming adaption of The Green Hornet, the movie was officially delayed five months from its original summer, 2010 scheduled release to December 17th. According to to the star of the movie, this was a very positive thing as it allowed for more time to finish post production and not rush the film.

Fortunately for moviegoers, the movie is now on the right track and has entered into production as of yesterday. Most of the film’s cast is now locked down with Tom Wilkinson and David Harbour representing the latest additions and we received official confirmations for Cameron Diaz and Edward James Olmos having roles in the film.

Everything was looking on the up and up… until now. Disney’s moving ...

Click to continue reading Green Hornet & Tron Legacy Fight For Release Date
