Well, the summer movie season is officially over, and while box office earnings are way up, it seems like the quality of the films have actually gone way down. But for every few badly-written movies (like X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Transformers 2, and G.I. Joe–though some will say it’s not that bad), there was a diamond in the rough like District 9. So why were so many movies so bad in the summer of ’09, even if they did make a lot of money? Hint: The Writers Strike!

Dan Aykroyd Talks Ghostbusters 3

Dan Aykroyd, the champion of the Ghostbusters franchise over the last fifteen years or so has spoken about the progress of the third film in the comedy-horror-sci-fi franchise.

Aykroyd talked to CHUD and Go Nintendo about the Ghostbusters game and film; he divulged information on Sigourney Weaver’s participation (she declined an opportunity to take part in the forthcoming game) as well as what the plot for the third film might entail.

When asked by Go Nintendo how the new game will help development of a third film Aykroyd said that he saw this new game as the third film and if it helped get an actual movie off the ground then all the better. He said:

‘Year One’ Goes From R To PG-13

It was reported recently that the upcoming comedy Year One, starring Jack Black and Michael Cera, was refused its appeal by producer Judd Apatow and co-writer/director Harold Ramis to be rated PG-13. When it was first presented to the MPAA for review, it was instantly slapped with an R-rating, much to the dismay of the filmmakers.

In an attempt to get it the sought-after PG-13 rating (so that it can make as much money possible), the fimmakers have re-cut the film and re-presented it the MPAA, finally resulting in them granting the PG-13 label.

The current age-rating description attached to the historical comedy is, “PG-13 – for crude and sexual content throughout, brief strong language and comic violence.” It certainly sounds like it was on the fence between R and PG-13, and the filmmakers just had to lighten it here ...

Full Trailer For ‘Year One’ With Jack Black & Michael Cera

If you’re an avid reader of Screen Rant (which all of us here hope that you are), then you might not be all that familiar with the upcoming comedy starring Jack Black and Michael Cera called Year One (since we haven’t covered it up until this point). But just to let you know, the film is set in, that’s right, you guessed it, the year one.

Black and Cera play a couple of lazy hunter-gatherers who after being exhiled from their village, set out on an epic journey through the ancient world.

It’s got a fantastic premise that I’m surprised hasn’t been used more (if at all – correct me if I’m wrong but I can’t think of any film that’s set when this one is). It stars Black who when he takes the right roles is hilarious, and Cera who’s ...
