A continuation of the X-Men: First Class timeline that explores Jean Grey’s (Sophie Turner) transformation into Dark Phoenix.
The transformation of Jean Grey into a Dark Phoenix will be explored in the upcoming movie, X-Men: Dark Phoenix. The story is set 10 years after the events that occurred in X-Men: Apocalypse where Jean Grey was led into unleashing the full power of her Phoenix abilities in order to help her team defeat the ancient and powerful mutant, En Sabah Nur, played by Oscar Isaac.
The upcoming movie is not the first to explore the transformation of Jean into her dark alter ego. This had already been explored in the third X-Men movie The Last Stand, wherein the character of Jean Grey was played by actress Famke Janssen.
Unlike the previous adaptation of the transformation, the upcoming movie will be a close adaptation of Chris Claremont’s “Dark Phoenix Saga.” The movie is directed by Simon Kinberg, who is also the writer and co-producer of the film.
Turner will reprise her role once again together with James McAvoy as Professor X, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler, Alexandra Shipp as Storm, and Evan Peters as Quicksilver.
Jessica Chastain will join the cast to play the empress of the villainous Shi’ar, who is out to destroy Phoenix while actress Summer Fontana has been cast as the young Jean Grey.
Filming is already underway and the movie is set to hit theaters on November 2, 2018.
