These days, it seems like an actress can’t break into the action movie lane without her name being tossed around the Interwebs as a possible candidate to play Wonder Woman in Warner Bros.’ long-stalled movie based on the Amazon heroine. Following a big fan push earlier this year to see Haywire star Gina Carano take on the role, comes the suggestion that John Carter‘s Lynn Collins should be considered for the part. Wonder Woman’s star power (no pun) doesn’t end there, as there is also an upcoming documentary that will explore the character’s impact on the cultural zeitgeist.

Numerous DC comics fans have expressed their frustration about how superhero staples like Batman and Superman have long thrived in cinematic form, while classic Amazonian warrior Wonder Woman cannot seem to catch a break – as far as (good) contemporary television or film adaptations go.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon was attached to bring Diana of Themyscira to the big screen back in 2007, but that film project ultimately fell by the wayside. That didn’t exactly hurt Whedon, though, seeing how he would go on to write and direct The Avengers; all the same, a Wonder Woman movie (sadly) still only exists in theoretical form today.

Warner Bros. has been trying to make a Wonder Woman film for at least the past decade. Additionally, the most recent attempt at bringing the property to television ended in spectacular failure. Needless to say, as far as live-action adaptations are concerned, Wonder Woman is going through a bit of a rough patch.

However, her luck might be turning around. In June, acclaimed director Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive) spoke about his desire to make a Wonder Woman film with Christina Hendricks in the lead role. And recently, Hendricks herself talked about her desire to play the Amazonian princess.

The pilot episode for David E. Kelley’s Wonder Woman TV show reboot failed to impress NBC executives – almost as much as Adrianne Palicki’s costumes failed to win over fans. However, that news was all the more welcomed by those who have instead been wanting to see Bronson director Nicolas Winding Refn be given the chance to realize his own plans for a Wonder Woman movie.

DC Universe To Be Rebooted; How Will It Affect the Justice League Film?

Today marks the biggest development for DC Comics since 1985 and Crisis On Infinite Earths. It may, in fact, be the company’s biggest development ever.

At the end of August – following the current comic book crossover Flashpoint – DC’s entire line of books will be rebooted with 52 number one issues, starting with Geoff Johns and Jim Lee’s newer, younger, redesigned Justice League.

Last week’s frenzy of pilot pickups and cancellations was largely a windfall for Warner Bros. Television, with the notable exception of NBC’s Wonder Woman pilot. CEO Peter Roth spoke out on the gains and the losses; also, a possible third “classic” Wonder Woman costume has been revealed.

Easily the project with the biggest mindshare this spring, Wonder Woman was full of promise when NBC ordered the pilot early this year. But after starlet Adrianne Palicki was cast, a series of ill-fated leaks and reveals gained the ire of Wonder Woman fans and critics alike, not the least of which was her much-maligned costume. NBC abandoned the pilot earlier in May.

NBC Shoots Down ‘Wonder Woman’ Pilot; No Series Ordered

After a tumultuous production filled with script issues and lamentable costume choices, NBC has declined David E. Kelley’s Wonder Woman pilot. The series will not be joining NBC’s new shows this fall.

It seems that a trio of costumes and some last-minute shooting and script adjustments weren’t enough to save the hopeful super-heroine series. Fan reaction to leaked production photos and Ally McBeal-like scripts has been almost universally dour, and the first reveal of Wonder Woman’s costume only served to fuel the fire.

The pilot for NBC’s Wonder Woman has already begun filming, with a full season on tap. But negative reaction from around the internet may have led the producers to already call for rewrites.

While the feedback from Adrianne Palicki’s costume has been resoundingly dour (even after the refresh), that’s not the only thing that has fans balking. Wonder Woman‘s move to Los Angeles also saw her becoming an executive of a cosmetics company – a career very much in line with showrunner David E. Kelley’s previous leading ladies.

‘Wonder Woman’ Has 3 Costumes, Says NBC President

UPDATE: NBC has declined to order Wonder Woman for an initial season. The project is cancelled.

There’s been quite a bit of talk over the costumes sported by Wonder Woman actress Adrianne Palicki and her stunt double in leaked shots. As it turns out, we may have only seen two thirds of her superpowered wardrobe.

NBC entertainment president Robert Greenblatt spoke on Dianna Prince’s various costumes yesterday. Apparently the modified costume with the red boots and reduced-glare pants is only one of three outfits viewers will see when the series debuts. The first was leaked last month to much skepticism, and the third has yet to be revealed.

Three costumes intended for Wonder Woman‘s maiden season sounds odd, especially considering the stylistic similarity of the two seen thus far. But ...

‘Wonder Woman’ Set Photos Show Villain Takedown

Still cringing at the sight of Adrianne Palicki in the Wonder Woman costume? Maybe these action shots from the set will help persuade you.

The new series of photos presumably come from Wonder Woman‘s Hollywood filming locale, at a mall or other indoor location. The photos show Wonder Woman leaning over and injecting a fallen enemy with a hypodermic needle. There’s very little context beyond that, though we do know that collapsed actor is Joseph Gatt, who will be playing John O’Quinn in the pilot.

There’s a few more revealing shots of Palicki’s costume, particularly the new-and improved boots, the back of the costume and the lasso. You can also see some of the detail work on Wonder Woman’s bucklers; note the stylized “W” running around the band.

To say the general reaction to the first official image of Adrianne Palicki in costume as the superheroine Wonder Woman was less that enthused is putting it mildly. Many a fan denounced the outfit as being far too loyal to its comic book inspiration – that is, much too shiny and brightly colorful to look anything but silly, even on someone as lovely as Palicki.

Now two new photos of Palicki as Diana Prince in action have been unveiled, and both feature a version of the costume that marks a significant improvement in design over the first image.

Jeff Robinov, president of the Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group, is opening up and letting movie fans know that his company has some far-reaching plans for their DC superhero properties. Plans that include taking another shot at the long-stalled Justice League movie.

In addition to having a DC superhero team-up film to rival Marvel’s The Avengers, Robinov has also stated that the team-up film will launch other cinematic properties like The Flash and Wonder Woman.

Another one of DC Comics’ most recognizable characters is about to enter the mainstream through a new series on NBC. David E. Kelley’s Wonder Woman has finally found its lasso-throwing, invisible plane flying superheroine.

Adrianne Palicki (Friday Night Lights, Red Dawn) will star as the multifaceted Wonder Woman. Besides donning the (hopefully) familiar red, blue and gold outfit, Palicki will also have to play Wonder Woman’s two alter-egos: Diana Themscira (which the public knows) and Diana Prince (her “secret” identity).

As today’s casting descriptions revealed, Diana Themscira will be the publicly known C.E.O. of Themyscira Industries – a company that serves no other purpose than to sell Wonder Woman merchandise and fund Wonder Woman’s crime fighting adventures.
