So Far, So Amazing For Watchmen

So Far, So Amazing For Watchmen

Amidst continuous news of lawsuits and litigation to boycotts against Fox Studios, we finally have an all-positive report for one of the most anticipated films of 2009: Watchmen.

Yesterday, Warner Bros. held a special presentation for Watchmen where they debuted nearly a half-hour of footage to an audience of press representatives. The footage included the opening to the film along with many other scenes scattered throughout the story.

Alex Billington at First Showing and Devin Faraci from CHUD were among the attendees at the event and both came away with VERY high praise from what they had been shown. Some of the notable remarks include amazing action sequences, beautiful visuals and awesome story-telling for adapting the graphic novel to the big screen.

Watchmen Lawsuit Update

I tell you, when first heard about 20th Century Fox’s lawsuit against Warner Bros. over the rights to the Watchmen movie, the first thing I said to myself was “I know that, somehow, Adam West is at the center of all this!”

And, as crazy as that might sound, turns out I might’ve been right.

Possible Watchmen Movie Delay NOT Fox's Fault?

[UPDATE: A Los Angeles federal judge has set a Jan. 6 trial date for the Fox vs Warner Bros lawsuit, well ahead of the current release date.]

What an unbelievable mess this whole Watchmen movie fiasco has turned into. The average person has to ask themselves: How the heck does something like this happen? I mean, isn’t this why corporations have massive legal departments stocked chock full of everyone’s favorite people: lawyers?

Let’s take a look at the history of Watchmen in Hollywood to try to sort this all out.

Angry Watchmen Fanboy Calls For Fox Boycott

Angry Watchmen Fanboy Calls For Fox Boycott

Oh 20th Century Fox, you had to know there would be blowback when you took legal action against Warner Bros. over the rights to the Watchmen movie. Did you really think fans of the greatest graphic novel of all time were just going to take your cash grab move lying flat on our backs?

Luckily for Fox, another riled fanboy has beat my letterbomb/fecal-matter-throwing campaign to the punch. ComicBookMovie was “lucky” enough to get in touch with that fanboy, twenty year-old Wyatt Barlup, for an interview. And boy was Wyatt letting the rhetoric fly.

A small snippet from the interview:

Watchmen Movie Banned From Release?

Watchmen Movie Banned From Release?

This is the post I never, ever, wanted to write. The post I never, ever thought I’d have to write. But writing it I am, scarcely believing the words even as I type them: the Watchmen movie is embroiled in a legal battle that, (in a worst case scenario,) could end up having it be barred from release, indefinitely.

What evil cabal would ever concoct such an insidious plot as to kill the long-awaited adaptation of our favorite graphic novel of all time? There is only one organization that evil: 20th Century Fox.

Very Strange Watchmen Movie Update

Very Strange Watchmen Movie Update

There’s a very odd post over at the official blog for the Watchmen movie.

It’s written by production designer Alex McDowell and describes an event that supposedly happened on April 7th, 2007 recounting a trip to New York City to see something in an abandoned building that was about to be demolished. The gist is that they stumbled upon the actual, real “Owl ship” that belonged to the character Nite Owl in the Watchmen graphic novel.
