M. Night Shyamalan has revealed that his original idea for Unbreakable 2 will be the basis for the third film in the Night Chronicles.

Fans of M. Night Shyamalan’s Unbreakable have spent the last decade hoping for a sequel to the 2000 film. The now less-than-heralded auteur has announced that Unbreakable 2 will make its way to the big screen – in the form of the third entry in his Night Chronicles series.

Unbreakable failed to replicate the box office and critical success of Shyamalan’s breakout hit The Sixth Sense – at least upon its initial release. The tale of a real-life superhero is now regarded by many a moviegoer as both their favorite Shyamalan film and arguably his all-around best creation.

Rumors that Shyamalan’s newest project would be Unbreakable 2 were dispelled a few months back – that has not stopped fans from continuing to pester him about the sequel. Shyamalan was asked about ...

Click to continue reading ‘Unbreakable 2′ To Become Third ‘Night Chronicles’ Movie

Well, yippee ki-yay mother – *gunshot*.

MTV caught up with Bruce Willis at Comic-Con 2010 and the actor revealed that Die Hard 5 is right around the corner and also expressed his desire to see Unbreakable 2 happen.

There hasn’t been any concrete news on Die Hard 5 since Skip Woods was hired to pen a draft of the screenplay back in May. While the plot is currently being kept under wraps, Willis had at one point expressed his desire to see the franchise “go worldwide”.

It looks like we’ll find out what direction Die Hard 5 is taking soon enough, as Willis expects an official greenlight any day now:

“It’s imminent… The coin is about to drop.”

We look back over the last 11 years of writer, director and occasional actor M. Night Shyamalan's career, hoping to figure out how it has steered so far off course.

The curious case of M. Night Shyamalan is a tragic tale, a story so epic in scope that it spans the first decade of the 21st century. It is a tale that begins in the sunlight, with the birth of a filmmaker whose first hit feature earned him major accolades and a bankable name at the multiplex. Within the depths of that artist’s soul lay a far more sinister figure, a diabolical Hyde to his kindly Dr. Jekyll, capable of crafting such deplorable cinematic schlock that it would leave the world trembling in its wake.

Seriously though, how did M. Night Shyamalan go from being so beloved to utterly reviled in the eyes of film critics and a growing portion of the moviegoing public?

Every artist out there has his or her high and low periods, and no one ...

Click to continue reading What’s Happened To M. Night Shyamalan?

Information about director M. Night Shyamalan's new screenplay has emerged and reveals that the project is not a sequel to Unbreakable, as some have speculated.

We reported earlier this week that writer/director M. Night Shyamalan’s has been shopping around his latest screenplay to potential distributors, with several big stars already attached to the project.

Despite the strict security measures put in place to keep the plot of Shyamalan’s new script under wraps, a few scant details about The Sixth Sense director’s latest original work have been revealed.

Deadline was reporting that Buried writer Chris Sparling will pen the screenplay for Twelve Strangers – the second flick to be released though Shyamalan’s Night Chronicles production company – when it unveiled the following bit of information concerning the auteur’s new screenplay:

I’m told Bradley Cooper would play a father on a desperate search for his missing child. It might stray into ‘Taken’ terrain, but the father taps into some supernatural powers to aid the search.

Bruce Willis talks about the possibility of a sequel to the 2000 psychological thriller 'Unbreakable,' directed by M. Night Shyamalan. But is a sequel really necessary?

We heard back in 2008 that director M. Night Shyamalan has interest in going back to one of his better films, the Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson thriller, Unbreakable.

When Unbreakable came out, Shyamalan was riding high on the success (both financial and critical) of his first film, The Sixth Sense. Everyone was wondering what he’d come up with next and if he could improve upon his debut effort.

But c’mon – how the hell do you top “I see dead people”?

Contrary to the majority’s opinion, I actually thought Unbreakable was Shyamalan’s best film, though it didn’t get the reception it truly deserved. You may not know that it was originally conceived as a trilogy but because of the underwhelming reaction to the first installment, Shyamalan got discouraged and moved on to do ...

Click to continue reading Bruce Willis Talks Unbreakable 2

First off, I’ll say my favorite M. Night Shyamalan film and the one I feel is most re-watchable is Unbreakable. The comic book-based film was released in 1999 and featured a cast of two A-list actors in Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson.

When Unbreakable first came out, it was met with mixed criticism. Although it later became a hit and one of the better films under his belt, M. Night was discouraged from continuing on with that idea due to some of the negative initial reaction to the movie.

That mixed response was nothing compared to what he faced with his more recent films. Mr. Shyamalan has really hurt his fan base with his last two features: Lady in the Water and The Happening. Both of these films earned lower-than-expected box office gross and were ...

Click to continue reading M.
