With 2012 in full swing, we took a cathartic look back at the entirety of 2011 to track down the 12 most WTF moments of last year.

While it’s highly likely that you may know a few of the moments on the list, there’s no doubt that you’ll be surprised by how many WTF moments simply passed you by.

‘True Blood’ Season 4 Finale Review

Following last week’s episode of True Blood - which could have been seen as a competent resolution – the “official” True Blood season 4 finale feels like nothing more than an unnecessary addition to a series that’s on verge of proverbially imploding because of its tendency to follow operatic logic while continuously positioning itself as a fantastical drama.

Despite adequately concluding the myriad of concurrent storylines and subplots that have run rampant throughout the series’ evolution, the True Blood season 4 finale was also a cavalcade of ridiculousness wrapped in a veil of poorly executed scenes and a litany of “twists” that serve no other purpose than to reduce the number of actors the series has to employ.

Comic-Con 2011: TV Trailer Round-Up

Comic-Con 2011 played host to a huge assortment of TV panels, most of which featured a teaser or trailer of some kind. If you couldn’t make it to San Diego (or were stuck in line with thousands of other convention attendees) you can catch up on the TV previews right here.

Trailers for Ringer, Torchwood: Miracle Day, Eureka, Warehouse 13, True Blood, The Vampire Diaries, Fringe, Supernatural and Doctor Who have been posted online. We’ll update this list as new videos are added over the next few weeks.

Comic-Con 2011: ‘True Blood’ Panel

HBO’s smash hit guilty pleasure True Blood is taking the San Diego Comic-Con in force, and Screen Rant is here to cover it all. The show is here for its fourth year straight, and thousands of people have crammed themselves into Ballroom 20 to see the stars and producers.

True Blood just started Season 4 in June, and the sex and violence is as potent as ever. Sookie (Anna Paquin) returns to the vampire, were creature and witch-infested world of Louisiana after brief trip to fairyland. (That not a metaphor or anything. She actually went to fairyland.)

Russell Edgington Will Return in ‘True Blood’ Season 5

Even though the continuing adventures of Sookie Stackhouse in True Blood season 4 are just beginning, plans are already underway for the next season of HBO’s hit series – plans that include the long-awaited return of Russell Edgington.

Speaking with Film School Rejects, Denis O’Hare confirmed that he will be returning as the one-time vampire king of Mississippi when the fifth season of True Blood begins. As a fan-favorite character – and one of the few positives to come out of True Blood season 3 – viewers have been wondering if/when Russell Edgington would break free from the underground cement prison that was supposed to house him for the next 100 years.

Watch ‘True Blood’ Episode 2 Now On HBO GO

Following last season’s lack-luster finale of conflicting character story-arcs and poor story progression, the True Blood season 4 premiere attempts to beautifully refocus HBO’s hit vampire drama with an entertaining storyline and masterful handling of the series’ ever growing cast.

As Sookie (Anna Paquin) gracefully traveled into the mysterious fairy world in the season 3 finale, fans of the series were left wondering what the outcome would bring to the series’ proverbial femme fatale. With the absence of any overt cliffhanger, the opening scenes of the True Blood season 4 premiere highlights what could have been a wonderful way to end a not-so-wonderful season 3 – and perhaps that’s what should have happened.

With two cult-hit series on their hands, HBO is once again tapping into their core audience at Comic-Con. This is an absolutely mammoth week for Blu-ray fans. New releases include Biutiful, Drive Angry and True Blood Season 3, but all of these pale in comparison to the classics hitting Blu-ray this week.

Everything from the much-anticipated Kubrick Collection to hilarious ’80s comedies like Back to School will arrive on shelves in stunning Blu-ray. There is heartbreak in Midnight Cowboy and laughter in City Slickers. A cowboy theme runs throughout the Blu-rays, but not all of them feature the Western motif.

The last two seasons of True Blood haven’t exactly blown my mind – season two’s Maryann-centric storyline was depressingly bad – but the show has been consistently entertaining and there were even moments of true greatness (Russell Edgington’s hilarious televised speech comes to mind).

HBO Expands Online Video Offering with HBO GO

HBO is finally expanding its online video presence. The premium cable network announced that its HBO GO online streaming service was being updated with hundreds of new shows and movies, including nearly all of HBO’s acclaimed original series.

The HBO GO service was launched over a year ago, offering HBO cable subscribers a digital portal for streaming content like other networks have had for some time. At its opening last February, the selection of content was somewhat anemic; many users complained about missing episodes and a rotating selection of movies.

That changed this week as HBO decided to ramp up the experience. The service now features every episode of True Blood, Boardwalk Empire, The Pacific, Sex and the City, The Sopranos, The Wire, Band of Brothers… the list goes on. ...

‘True Blood’ Anoints Daniel Buran The Head Werewolf

As the fourth season of HBO’s hit series readies, the True Blood cast continues to grow with the announcement that Daniel Buran (Southland, Criminal Minds) will play the part of Alcide’s new master.

Werewolves were a big part of True Blood’s third season. The beasts had been hinted at frequently before their auspicious debut, but as this is an Alan Ball show we are talking about, their ability to induce fear was mostly overshadowed by the constant reminder that those pesky lycanthropes – like everyone else on the show – are in way better shape than the majority of the earth’s population.

Dennis O’Hare Wants More ‘True Blood’

For many, two words can sum up season 3 of HBO’s True Blood: Russell Edgington. While the season made good on the teased introduction of werewolves, it was Dennis O’Hare’s characterization of a gaudy, and decidedly anti-human vampire that really stole the show.

Surely fans didn’t think they had seen the last of the 3000-year-old bloodsucker as the season ended, and if the recent comments by actor Dennis O’Hare are anything to speculate on, those rooting for more vampire king of Mississippi won’t have long to wait.

“I left them on a high. They have been very, very nice to me, and they tell me that they think I’m going to come back and I’m waiting. We’ll see what happens.”

For 37 years, the People’s Choice Awards has been celebrating the fan favorites in film, television and music. In preparation for tonight’s awards ceremony, over 35 million votes were cast by the American public in hopes that their favorite film, television series, actor or musician will take home this coveted award.

For the second year in a row, the multifaceted Queen Latifah will be serving as host of this fanatical gala. With over 43 separate categories having to fit within the given timeslot, something tells me that Queen Latifah is going to be forced to move things along at a swift pace in order to fit each category within the 2-hour time-limit.
