‘Tron Legacy’ Writers Set To Write Ouija Board Movie

‘Tron Legacy’ Writers Set To Write Ouija Board Movie

Alongside what seems like every second toy or board game on the shelf, a Ouija board movie is apparently on its way to the big screen. Over time, Michael Bay (or at least his company, Platinum Dunes) has been attached to the project, which did give it some legitimacy. But for some reason I never thought they would go ahead and make one. Well I was wrong.

According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision Blog, not only is Michael Bay going to be producing Ouija through Platinum Dunes (who were responsible for horror remakes such as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday the 13th and the upcoming A Nightmare on Elm Street, FYI) alongside Brad Fuller and Andrew Form, but they have signed writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz (Tron Legacy, Lost) to pen the script. Hasbro’s Brian Goldner and Bennett Schneir will also produce.

Tron Legacy Producers Talk Disc Tourneys & Light Cycles

Tron Legacy Producers Talk Disc Tourneys & Light Cycles

Chris Hudak of GameRevolution had the chance to sit down and chat with Tron Legacy producers Steven Lisberger and Sean Bailey at the D23 Expo in Anaheim. The wide-ranging interview touched on a number of aspects of the film, including the film’s look, its tone, and its music. I’ve excerpted some of the juicier segments below. For the full interview, visit GameRevolution.

Steven Lisberger on the tone of Tron Legacy:

“The tone of first film reflects a certain naïve idealism. This film reflects the temperament of Joe Kosinski, our director, our young writers, and Sean Bailey, my fellow producer – those who have a more realistic point of view of the upsides and downsides of technology and cyberspace.”

Tron Legacy Coming to IMAX 3D December 2010

Tron Legacy Coming to IMAX 3D December 2010

Disney has announced that the upcoming Tron sequel, Tron Legacy, will debut in IMAX and IMAX 3D theaters the same day as the movie’s worldwide release (surprise), December 17, 2010. That means that you can see the crazy sort of CGI light cycle races and battles (which impressed most everyone I know who watched the Tron Legacy first trailer) in full IMAX 3D glory!

Now in about 98% of cases, I’m don’t go for the IMAX and/or 3D marketing gimmick option (ticket prices in my town are high enough as is – $12-13!), but Tron Legacy (so far) looks to be that rare 2% instance where I’m going to be reaching into my wallet for that extra $10.

Green Hornet & Tron Legacy Fight For Release Date

For those of you following the troubled development of Seth Rogen’s upcoming adaption of The Green Hornet, the movie was officially delayed five months from its original summer, 2010 scheduled release to December 17th. According to to the star of the movie, this was a very positive thing as it allowed for more time to finish post production and not rush the film.

Fortunately for moviegoers, the movie is now on the right track and has entered into production as of yesterday. Most of the film’s cast is now locked down with Tom Wilkinson and David Harbour representing the latest additions and we received official confirmations for  Cameron Diaz and Edward James Olmos having roles in the film.

Everything was looking on the up and up… until now. Disney’s moving in to fight for that same release date for their 3D movie, Tron Legacy. But that’s not all, there’s two other films scheduled for that holiday weekend as well…

Tron 2 Trailer, Name Change, Concept Art At Comic-Con

[Update: An HD version of the new Tron Legacy VFX test has been made available - Check it out Here!]

The third and final segment of Disney’s opening presentation, which also happened to Comic-Con’s first ever 3-D panel, involved the sequel to the cult classic, Tron.

Tron made a big surprise splash at last year’s Con by showing an exclusive test clip of Tron 2 which featured Jeff Bridges returning to his role of Kevin Flynn from the first film. Having that under their belt, we in the crowd expected a big show from them this year.

More Tron 2 Details Revealed

About three months ago we got our first set of details about the upcoming sequel, Tron 2. They were fairly spoilerific, but some of the less spoiler-ish ones were that it takes place 25 years after the original and Jeff Bridges’ character has a son named Sean who, predictably, ends up inside the computer world. Fast forward to today, and we have some new details that have been revealed about Tron 2, via a script review.

Michael Sheen To Be Tron 2 Villain?

Michael Sheen To Be Tron 2 Villain?

Michael Sheen is one of those actors who not only plays the part but becomes the person he is portraying. Much like Daniel Day-Lewis in that sense, Sheen has made a career of playing real-life celebrities. Some examples being Tony Blair in The Queen (as well as in other projects), TV personality and journalist David Frost in Frost/Nixon, and most recently the infamous Leeds United soccer team manager Brian Clough in The Damned United.

However, that’s not all he does – he also goes for the more fantastical roles such as Lucian in the Underworld series and his upcoming role in The Twilight Saga’s New Moon. Now, it looks like he may follow the fantasy route again as rumors and speculation are abound that he will star in the upcoming long-awaited sequel Tron 2.

Tr2n / Tron 2.0 / Tron 2 Is Now Just ‘Tron’

When Disney initially dropped the footage for the up and coming Tron flick at Comic-Con last summer it was titled TR2N. Since then there have been rumors running around the internet saying the film had been retitled Tron 2.0, and then just plain old Tron 2. However, during the Disney presentation at ShoWest it was revealed that the actual title of the film will just be… TRON.

Well, it’s common knowledge that the Tron sequel is currently in production up in Vancouver.  It seems there’s been a leak in their camp as Ain’t It Cool is reporting that a reliable source has put them in the know of certain details about the up and coming sequel.

Tron 2 To Give Jeff Bridges Digital Plastic Surgery

Tron 2 To Give Jeff Bridges Digital Plastic Surgery

Ever since I saw the preview of Tron 2.0 at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con I’ve been wondering exactly what Disney planned to do about the fact that Jeff Bridges no longer fits the bill for Flynn.  Aging will do that to you, ya know?

In order to deal with the fact that a considerable amount of time has passed since the filming of Tron, the wizards over at Disney have come up with a virtual fountain of youth to micromanage Jeff Bridges’ little problem:  Bridges is getting digitized.

‘Tron 2′ Gets Its Lead

‘Tron 2′ Gets Its Lead

The sequel to the classic 1980s film Tron, now going by the same name (but we’ll keep referring to it as Tron 2), is a highly anticipated one and the news being released of both original stars Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner coming back as well as the fact they’re “staying true to the original” makes me very excited about it.

Well it seems that the project is zooming along at light-cycle speed as Disney has announced they’ve found their leading man. He is Garrett Hedlund, who you may recognize from such films as Four Brothers (he was the youngest one), Friday Night Lights, Georgia Rule, Death Sentence (he was bad-ass in that) and Eragon.

He reportedly beat out Ryan Gosling, upcoming Star Trek star Chris Pine and Michael Stahl-David (Cloverfield) for the role.

Bruce Boxleitner Joins Tron 2.0

The newest (and very welcome) piece of news on Tron 2 (or Tron 2.0 which thankfully it looks like will be the title they’re going to go with) is that actor Bruce Boxleitner, who played the title character in the original film, has been cast (according to reports he’s actually currently filming his role).

He will join already announced cast members Jeff Bridges, Olivia Wilde and Beau Garrett.

‘Tron 2′ Will Be 3D

‘Tron 2′ Will Be 3D

After the news of Olivia Wilde and Beau Garrett being cast in Tron 2, we get the exciting news that the film will be shot entirely in 3D! AICN reports:

…a previously tested source had to say:

I think the masses would love this tidbit of info. Tron 2.0 is going to be shot ENTIRELY in 3-D. They are really excited about what they are going to be doing with the Tron world in 3-D.

With new technology, they can actually wear the glasses at the monitors as they shoot & it will show them exactly how the 3-D will look so that they can get exactly what they are looking for.

If there has ever been a world that 3-D would totally embrace, I think it would be the world of Tron. Specifically, we are going to get a first person view from inside of a light cycle in the film. That should be a lot of fun.

‘Tron 2′ Gets New Cast Members

(New writer alert! Hey folks, just a quick note to let you know we’ve brought a new writer on board: Ross Miller. Go easy on him, will ya? – Vic)

We all know the sequel to Tron is on the verge of being made, with a Spring 2009 shoot being eyed. Sadly, though, the release isn’t until 2011 so we have over two years to mull over the inevitable slew of news and images that will get released between now and then. On the casting news side of things (after Jeff Bridges confirmed he will be in it) we have news that two actresses have signed on.

Tron 2: A Tough Road Ahead

Tron 2: A Tough Road Ahead

A few days ago news of a new Tron movie started popping up on the net and today we have more detail on what’s happening with the movie.

The original Tron came out 25 years ago (if you can believe it!), released by Disney and went on to become a cult hit. The story was about a videogame developer (Jeff Bridges) who was sucked into the virtual reality world of computers, where he discovered that the programs there were actually sentient and living under the dictatorship of the Master Control Program. At the time the effects and concept were both cutting edge. Keep in mind that at the time the movie was released, the big games in arcades were Pac-Man and the first version of Donkey Kong!
