Additional images from Pixar's next film, 'Brave', have been released. In addition, a clip from the upcoming short 'Toy Story: Small Fry' is available for viewing.

While Pixar’s Cars 2 still managed to gross north of $500 million worldwide in theaters this past summer, fans of the animation studio (pretty much) unanimously agree: that sequel did not represent the studio at its finest. Hence the additional excitement for the company’s next feature-length production, Brave, and newest Toy Story short, titled “Toy Story: Small Fry”.

Today we have a few more images from Pixar’s ‘darker princess fairy tale‘ and an excerpt from “Small Fry”. The latter of that pair will be shown in front of The Muppets later this month – in case you (for some reason) still needed more incentive to check out that Jim Henson puppet flick in theaters. Moving on…

Brave takes place in the ancient and mystical Highlands of Scotland, where the tenacious young Princess Merida (voiced by Boardwalk Empire‘s Kelly Macdonald) yearns to lead a life less ...

Click to continue reading Pixar Roundup: ‘Brave’ Images & ‘Toy Story’ Short Clip

According to Tom Hanks, Pixar is currently working on 'Toy Story 4'. But should the series continue on?

Pixar concluded its acclaimed Toy Story trilogy with a bang last year, as Toy Story 3 grossed more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office, walked away with two Oscars for its efforts, and left many a moviegoer weeping after watching Andy say farewell to his beloved playthings. Now, however, fans may start crying for a different reason.

Assuming that Tom Hanks is to be believed, Toy Story 4 is indeed being actively developed over at Pixar. This news comes hot on the heels of another sequel from the company, Cars 2, having been given a decidedly mixed reception (even from devoted Pixar and Cars fans alike).

Last fall, producer Darla K. Anderson stated that (at the time) Pixar had no plan for Toy Story 4. However, in a recently-aired interview with BBC’s ...

Click to continue reading Tom Hanks Says ‘Toy Story 4′ Is Currently Being Developed

Toy Story fans still holding out hope for another feature-length continuation in the ongoing saga of Andy Davis’ toys are no doubt eagerly eyeing the Cars 2 release date, June 24th, 2011, in anticipation of once again seeing Buzz, Woody, and the gang on the silver screen.

Last week Entertainment Weekly gave us an early peak at images from the upcoming Toy Story short Hawaiian Vacation – and today, Pixar has released a thirty second clip from the short to give fans a taste of what they can expect.

As most Pixar fans know, each film the famed studio releases is preceded by a Pixar-made short film – starting with Geri’s Game which aired ahead of A Bug’s Life in 1998.

Thought you’d seen the last of Woody, Buzz and the rest of the gang of famous toys? Think again. No this is not news that a Toy Story 4 is on the way (as of last November there are no plans for a fourth film) but rather our first look at the upcoming Toy Story short that will play before Pixar’s next film, Cars 2, this summer.

We found out just before Christmas that the first of many planned Toy Story shorts would focus on fan-favorites Ken and Barbie (as seen together in Toy Story 3) as they plan a trip to Hawaii. Disney animator Floyd Norman previously used the words “Ken and Barbie want to go to Hawaii” to describe the premise of the short, the key ...

Click to continue reading First Look At ‘Toy Story’ Short ‘Hawaiian Vacation’

The first new 'Toy Story' short will be attached to 'Cars 2' and will center around 'Toy Story 3' favorites Ken and Barbie as they attempt to take a trip to Hawaii.

Back in November, Pixar revealed that they weren’t quite ready to leave the Toy Story franchise behind and that they’d be revisiting its beloved cast of characters through a series of short films.

Producer Darla K. Anderson confirmed that we’d see the first Toy Story short debut in front of Cars 2 this summer, but kept the details of its premise under wraps. She did hint that a number of old favorites would be making appearances, but if you were anxiously awaiting the return of Woody and Buzz you might have to wait just a little bit longer.

According to legendary Disney animator Floyd Norman, the first short will focus on Toy Story 3 scene-stealers Ken and Barbie. Bleeding Cool took notice of Norman’s Twitter page where he announced that he’d seen the film ...

Click to continue reading First ‘Toy Story’ Short Will Feature Ken & Barbie

Given the critical and commercial success of Toy Story 3 this past summer, a fourth entry in Pixar’s flagship franchise probably seems like a no-brainer. Despite the sense of closure the third film provided for Woody, Buzz, and the rest of the gang, Hollywood continually reminds us that no property is truly finished until it stops making money.

But if Pixar operated the way most studios do, it wouldn’t have the incredible track record that it does – which is why it’s not particularly surprising to hear that we won’t be seeing a Toy Story 4 any time soon. However, it doesn’t mean we’ve seen the last of this beloved cast of characters.

Movieweb recently caught up with Toy Story 3 producer Darla K. Anderson who confirmed:

[Note: The end of this article was altered after publication by the writer.]

Infographics are the popular (and digestible) way to make statistics come to life, and this latest one (beautifully rendered by the good folks over at Know Your Money) is an infographic detailing the production budgets and earnings of all the Pixar animated movies that have been released to date.

From Toy Story 1 back in 1995 to Toy Story 3 (in theaters now), this infographic shows how much money went into making each Pixar hit and how much box office cash was ultimately returned on that investment.

With the release of Iron Man 2, Screen Rant looks back at the 12 best movie sequels ever made.

Before I begin with this list of our favorite movie sequels, I want to stress this is strictly opinion and not fact. I hope the following will incite discussion and debate, but let it be known that no list is definitive. Having said that, let’s get it on!

In honor of Iron Man 2 releasing this weekend, it seemed right to come up with a list of cinema’s top sequels. Not to mention, there are endless movie sequels in the mix for the upcoming years.

While the top three picks on our list seemed obvious, setting even them in order was a tough task. More difficult was rounding out a top ten. So, instead of just going with the standard ten, we’ve extended our list to 12. Included are four costumed heroes, a ...

Click to continue reading The 12 Best Movie Sequels Ever Made

[Update: We've added the International Trailer for Toy Story 3]

A second trailer for Toy Story 3 is here and it reveals what looks to be another sure hit for Pixar.

In an era where most sequels are pure crap (Transformers 2), Pixar has managed to keep Toy Story relevant and even exciting through the most basic, yet overlooked, method possible: quality storytelling.

In this latest installment, young boy Andy is now an awkward teenager ready to head off for college. Like any college-bound kid, Andy beings to sift through his possessions for what he will bring with him to school, and through a cleaning mishap, his old toys end up donated to a child daycare center. All of our favorites – Woody (Tom Hanks), Buzz (Tim Allen), Mr. Potato Head (Don Rickles), Rex (Wallace Shawn) – are ...

Click to continue reading Toy Story 3 Second Trailer & International Trailer [Updated]

Has your Blu-ray collection been missing a certain toy-laden set of adventures from the folks over at Pixar? Would those movies be Toy Story 1 & 2, perhaps? Well if so you’re in luck, as both Toy Story movies are coming to Blu-ray and we have the trailer for their release here for you viewing pleasure.

The folks over at Collider point us to Pixar Talk which says Toy Story 1 & 2 in Blu-ray will be hitting store shelves sooner than you might have thought – on March 23rd this year.
We learned a few months back that former James Bond actor, Timothy Dalton, is voicing a new character in Pixar’s upcoming sequel, Toy Story 3. The character is called Mr. Pricklepants, a hedgehog who’s described to have “thespian tendencies,” which makes Dalton a great choice for the role (on top of the fact he has a brilliantly distinctive voice).

Those lucky enough to be in the room for the Disney’s D23 event earlier this year got a look at Mr. Pricklepants, along with the first full-length Toy Story 3 trailer. But we now have a new featurette (which premiered on the Disney Channel) featuring director Lee Unkrich and gives us our first official look at the character. Other than that, it doesn’t give much else away that we haven’t seen before in other trailers and clips, but for any fans ...

Click to continue reading New Toy Story 3 Featurette Reveals Mr. Pricklepants

We’ve come to the end of 2009, so we thought we’d weigh in with a look back at the first 10 years of the 21st century in the movie world and discuss the various different “events” which shaped the decade. Obviously we can’t cover absolutely everything, but sticking true to our core movie genres on the site, we’re just going to concentrate on the comic-book, sci-fi, action (and so forth) types of movies and take a look at what films had the maximum impact over this decade.

It’s amazing to think that it’s been 10 years since movies like The Matrix, American Beauty and Fight Club (to name but a few) came out in 1999 (check out our 1999 decade highlight, if you haven’t already).
Some new items have recently popped up about the upcoming Toy Story 3, the long-awaited and highly anticipated third film in the already amazing Pixar series. We have the news that it will be released in IMAX, and we also have a trio of new high-res images.

Let’s start of the with the IMAX news: the IMAX corporation and Walt Disney Studios yesterday announced that Toy Story 3 will be released in IMAX 3D theaters simultaneously with its release in regular theaters on its set date of June 18th, 2010. However, the film wasn’t originally shot for IMAX, so in Star Trek style it will be digitally re-mastered for it. Here’s some quick words on the release from Distribution President of The Walt Disney Studios, Bob Chapek, and from IMAX CEO, Richard L. Gelfond:

The box office gets Wild; a Vampire Chronicles star moves to Cradlewood; Everything Must Go for Will Ferrell; Owen, Keener and Schwimmer Trust each other and Terrance Mallick’s Tree of Life withers in 2009.

Box Office

After a few years in post-production, Spike Jonze’s Where The Wild Things Are took the top spot with a mighty $32.4 million over the weekend. Catering to children and adults alike, it looks like this adaptation of the children’s book might make it to the century barrier.

Law Abiding Citizen came an impressive second with $21 million. The thriller has given a boost to the careers of Jamie Fox and Gerard Butler whose last movies underperformed.

Paranormal Activity scared up $20 million from only 760 screens for a $33 million total. It looks like the sky is the limit as Halloween approaches.

Got two new trailers for you today, both coming from “The House of the Mouse.” The first one is the theatrical trailer for Disney and Robert Zemeckis’s re-imagining of the Charles Dickens classic A Christmas Carol, and the other is an exclusive clip for the Toy Story 3D Double Feature, which kicks off its two-week limited engagement this weekend.

Fridays deserve a little touch of magic and there’s nobody who $pecializes in the magic touch better than Disney.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL

First up is the trailer for A Christmas Carol, which stars Jim Carrey as Ebenezer Scrooge (and the three ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future). The first trailer pretty much showcased Carrey being Carrey, thankfully this second trailer also shows us (as if we needed reminding), what the actual film is ...

Click to continue reading Disney 3D Trailers: A Christmas Carol and Toy Story 1&2

A new TV spot has appeared online recently for the upcoming re-release of Toy Story and Toy Story 2, being shown as a 3D double-feature. I’m normally against the 3D thing (especially considering this kind of case where the films weren’t 3D to begin with), but since Pixar made amazing use of the technology this summer with their latest flick, UP, I’m going to assume they’ve implemented it just as well with this Toy Story 1 & 2 re-release.

Here’s hoping…

The new Toy Story double feature spot is basically a short and fun “instructional” video featuring a voice-over telling us what we can expect, reminding us of our beloved Toy characters, letting us know that we’ll get a bathroom break (rejoice!) and, of course, bragging about the 3D aspect. The first trailer already ...

Click to continue reading Toy Story 3D Double Feature TV Spot

[Update: We have additional Toy Story 3 Info! See post for details.]

Pixar’s John Lasseter was recently on hand at the Disney Animation Showcase in London, where he showed some footage and spilled some beans about the plots of the upcoming Pixar sequels, Toy Story 3 and Cars 2.

I can tell you upfront that the story revealed for Toy Story 3 pretty much confirms early rumors, while the plot of Cars 2 will be less down-home Southern-fried yarn, and more James Bond.

Pixar fans, if you’ve been waiting to know what’s in store for the next installments of two of your favorite franchises, keep reading.

TOY STORY 3

According to the footage shown, the next Toy Story film will take us ahead to the future where the little boy Andy is now teenage Andy headed ...

Click to continue reading Pixar [Updated]: Cars 2 & Toy Story 3 Plots Revealed
