‘Walking Dead’ Season 3 Preview Reveals The Prison & Michonne [Updated]

Production began in early May on The Walking Dead season 3, and AMC has just released the first footage from the highly-anticipated next chapter of the show. Shot on the set of The Walking Dead season 3 premiere, today’s two-minute behind-the-scenes video contains cast interviews about what fans can expect to see in this upcoming season.

Fortunately, there’s much more than just high-hopes contained within the video. For those who look closely, you’ll notice that a majority of the featurette is filmed in a new, unfamiliar setting. One with bars. And blood.

Television is no longer the walk in the park that is used to be. With many series focused on solving murders (or committing them), the landscape of television has become, well, deadly. But which series are the deadliest?

In a study conducted by Funeralwise.com, which analyzed the deaths in 8 episodes of 40 TV shows, it was revealed that Spartacus: Vengeance and Game of Thrones came out on top, with an average of 25 and 13 dead bodies per episode, respectively.

For those not familiar with either series, those numbers do appear to be extremely high. Though with Spartacus: Vengeance focusing on the gladiator rebellion, and Game of Thrones highlighting the civil war between the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, it’s not surprising to find these two series making the ...

AMC Renews ‘Comic Book Men’ & ‘Talking Dead’ For Season 2

AMC has announced that it has renewed two of its popular unscripted series, Comic Book Men and Talking Dead - both with an increased episode count. Comic Book Men will be bumped up from six, hour-long episodes in its first season to sixteen half-hour episodes, with Talking Dead also receiving sixteen episodes as well, upping it from its previous season’s thirteen.

Pulling in an average of 1.5 million viewers for its freshman season, Comic Book Men is pretty much the Antiques Roadshow for the geek world. Fans get an all-out nerd bonanza with director Kevin Smith, as collectors from all over the (world?) bring rare items to Smith’s famed Red Bank, New Jersey comic shop – a.k.a. Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash.

Robert Kirkman Talks ‘The Walking Dead’ Season 3 Production Start

It’s safe to say that the expectations for the upcoming third season of AMC’s The Walking Dead are fairly high, given the tease at the end of season 2 featuring not only the debut of fan-favorite Michonne (Danai Gurira), but the new season will also take the survivors off Hershel’s farm and have them set up camp in a rather ominous-looking prison.

In an an on-set interview with AMC, Kirkman offered a description of the prison set and spoke briefly on the subject of Michonne’s sword-handling skills. He also spoke about fan expectations with the inclusion of the villainous Governor (David Morrissey) and how he will play into the larger, more dangerous world that is expected to be unveiled during season 3.

‘Walking Dead’ Producer Developing Projects For Syfy & USA

Valhalla Entertainment, headed up by The Walking Dead executive producer Gale Anne Hurd, has signed an exclusive production deal with Universal Cable Productions, one production arm of NBCUniversal.

Hurd’s new arrangement will be to develop as well as produce an unknown number of new television projects for both cable and broadcast networks, which include USA Network and Syfy. The deal will mark the first of Valhalla Ent.’s overall TV deal and stems from the success of the studio’s first primetime series – AMC’s cult hit The Walking Dead.

Universal Cable Productions senior VPs Richard Rothstein, Chris Sanagustin and Maira Suro released a joint statement Monday, declaring the news:

Steven Yeun and Lauren Cohan – who play lovestruck couple Glenn and Maggie in AMC’s The Walking Dead - were in Chicago this past weekend for the Chicago Comics and Entertainment Expo (C2E2).

During a panel about the show, Yeun and Cohan answered questions about the reality of romance during a zombie armageddon, how they felt at the end of shooting, and what Season 3 will be like for the survivors, now that Rick has taken a somewhat darker character turn.

As The Walking Dead heads into season 3, the series will begin its journey down a darker path than viewers of the television series are currently accustomed to seeing. Fortunately, the producers have no intention of changing the extremely polarizing moments from the comics.

Without spoiling what’s to come, it’s safe to say that whatever terrible things you could imagine happening to a group of survivors in a prison setting that has actual prisoners in it do, in fact, happen – as well as many you could have never imagined.

‘The Walking Dead’ Producer Responds To ‘Annoying Lori’ Critics

While The Walking Dead season 2 may have ended with viewers clamoring for season 3, there were still problems that fans had with the past season of the series. Specifically one person: Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies).

Speaking to the press following The Walking Dead season 2 finale, executive producer Glen Mazzara discussed the fans’ not-so-positive opinion of Lori Grimes, as well as what they plan to do with her and Rick’s relationship next season.

Early on in ‘Better Angels,’ it looked like the untimely death of Dale (Jeffrey DeMunn) had instilled in The Walking Dead survivors a sense of kinship that had been overshadowed by the constant internal squabbling, which plagued them more relentlessly than a group of walkers. With Lori apologizing to Shane and Hershel inviting his guests to share the house with the family, it seemed like there was an organized effort to not let the group’s proverbial moral center be buried with Dale.

For the first time quite a while, The Walking Dead survivors are reminded that others like them exist, and they also have guns that work just as well on the living as they do zombies.

Surprisingly, “Triggerfinger” moves to swiftly bring Dave and Tony’s comrades (at least some of them) into the inevitable conflict – instead of pursuing a gradual sense of unease and questions about who else is out there from Rick, Shane, Lori and so on.

Stuck in the bar, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) Glenn (Steven Yuen) and Hershel (Scott Wilson) come under fire by a group of (mostly) unseen assailants, who are none too pleased to learn their friends are dead. ‘The Walking Dead’ Season 2 Midseason Premiere Review

Given the difficult circumstances The Walking Dead survivors found themselves in at the end of the midseason finale, the return episode -titled ‘Nebraska’ – really had no choice but to pick up immediately following Rick’s decision to shoot Sophia. That being the case, the majority of the episode works as a direct extension of ‘Pretty Much Dead Already’ – which, as expected, works out to be an exercise in guilt, grief and for some, the realization that believing in hope is tantamount to standing idly by.

Although there are plenty of lingering plot points and character threads the episode could have chosen to cover, ‘Nebraska’ steers clear of hurrying along the storyline for the sake of getting things moving, but the episode feels dutiful and filled with a purpose, nonetheless.
