Alex Proyas Adapting Robert A. Heinlein’s ‘Unpleasant Profession of Jonathan Hoag’

To say that Alex Proyas’ inability to produce both Paradise Lost – which was scrapped by Warner Bros due to budgetary concerns – and Dracula Year Zero – also scrapped and then revived by Universal – was an unpleasant experience would be a vast understatement.

Still, the drawbacks will not stop Proyas from helming another film, and now the director of films such as Knowing, Dark City and I, Robot is indeed lining up a new project. Deadline reports that Proyas will write and direct an adaptation of Robert A. Heinlein’s The Unpleasant Profession of Jonathan Hoag.

The film will follow the title character, who has no recollection of what he does for a day job. Troubled over his memory loss, and concerned that he partakes in some reprehensible activities, he contacts a husband and wife detective ...

Alex Proyas’ Thoughts on ‘The Crow’ & ‘Dracula: Year Zero’

Concerning The Crow, someone had to finally ask what Alex Proyas thinks of a remake. With Stephen Norrington already signed to write and direct the reboot, which apparently isn’t going to be “gloriously gothic or stylized,” someone had to ask the original director what he thought.

JoBlo.com sat down with Proyas for a Knowing interview and ask about the recent announcement. He had this to say:

“I think it’s kind of premature, really… It’s seems like ‘The Crow’ is only like 15 years old maybe. It’s seems, early. (laughs) I always thought that remakes, you shouldn’t be given license to remake something for at least 25 years. I don’t know. It just seems kind of odd to me. Just re-release the original movie.”
