‘Modern Family’ & ‘Hawaii Five-0′ Top DVR Ratings; ‘Supernatural’ & ‘Fringe’ Gain

Television’s busiest number-crunchers at TV by the Numbers have released their list of the most-recorded shows in America, with ABC’s Modern Family leading the pack. Shows like House, The Event and Supernatural got a significant bump in addition to first-run ratings.

Recorded episodes are making up a bigger and bigger chunk of the television audience, and the trend has been consistent for the 2010-1011 season.

For example, Modern Family scored an average of 11.2 million viewers for every live episode, plus 3.5 million DVR viewers – a whopping 31% increase.

While most, if not all, of your favorites shows will be returning this fall, there happens to be a select few series that are signing off for good – even if they’re not yet aware of it. For 37 years, the People’s Choice Awards has been celebrating the fan favorites in film, television and music. In preparation for tonight’s awards ceremony, over 35 million votes were cast by the American public in hopes that their favorite film, television series, actor or musician will take home this coveted award.

For the second year in a row, the multifaceted Queen Latifah will be serving as host of this fanatical gala. With over 43 separate categories having to fit within the given timeslot, something tells me that Queen Latifah is going to be forced to move things along at a swift pace in order to fit each category within the 2-hour time-limit.

‘The Mentalist’ Star Simon Baker Inks New $30 Million Deal

In a staggering deal that only The Mentalist himself could have seen coming, Simon Baker, the 41-year-old star of the hit CBS crime drama, has reportedly reached a new agreement with Warner Bros. that extends his current contract another year and guarantees the actor an estimated $30 million payday.

The attractive new deal is said to give Baker a larger piece of the pie (more of The Mentalist‘s backend profits) in addition to a much sought-after producer credit – beginning in the program’s fifth season.

The most lucrative long-term aspect of Baker’s deal, undoubtedly, is the backend action the Australian TV and film star is getting from Warner Bros. – which now syndicates The Mentalist on TNT.
