Warner Bros. has Joseph Gordon-Levitt developing a 'Little Shop of Horrors' remake, which the 'Inception' star is planning to headline. Playwright Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (the Spider-Man musical) will handle writing duties.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been a hot discussion topic over the past week, thanks to the prominence of his character in the third Dark Knight Rises trailer. The conversation concerning the in-demand actor should change a bit, though, now that new reports have revealed Levitt is playing an important creative role in an upcoming Little Shop of Horrors remake over at Warner Bros.

Roger Corman’s original 1960 cult B-movie The Little Shop of Horrors (supposedly inspired by John Collier’s 1932 story “Green Thoughts”) was the basis for a stage musical in 1982 – which in turn gave rise to Frank Oz’ Little Shop of Horrors film four years later. Levitt’s project, it seems, will be a revamping of the 1986 movie musical.

How much more sap does the remake tree have left?! Yes, yet another remake is on it’s way, this time of the classic B-horror/comedy from 1960 called The Little Shop of Horrors. In case you don’t know, it tells the tale of a man who discovers a carnivorous plant who forces him to kill people for it’s dietary need of human flesh.

The man who’s going to be directing this remake is Declan O’Brien, the guy behind such works as the upcoming Wrong Turn 3 (there was a Wrong Turn 2?!) and a few TV sci-fi movies called Cyclops, Monster Ark and Rock Monster.

O’Brien talked a little bit about his plan for the remake:

“I just optioned the remake rights… We’re going to set that up as a studio feature… After I did this movie for Roger [Corman] called ...

Click to continue reading ‘The Little Shop Of Horrors’ Remake On The Way
