‘The Expendables 2′ To Be Rated PG-13 Because of Chuck Norris [Updated]

Considering that The Expendables 2 will feature a who’s who of macho male action icons, be chock-full of explosion-happy set pieces, and aims to embrace the model of testosterone-fueled blockbuster romps that were all the rage in the 1980s and ’90s – even more so than the first film – it is assumed that this would be a very hard R-Rated movie, right?

Well, apparently that might not be the case after all, as the screenplay for the Expendables sequel is said to have been watered down to a PG-13 Rating, thanks to (bizarre though it may seem at first) co-star Chuck Norris.

Norris was interviewed recently by the Polish paper Kazeta. That story was thereafter translated by Expendables Premiere into English, which fished out a comment from the Walker, Texas Ranger actor ...

‘Expendables 2′ Official Poster Features Stallone & Rubble

There are so many iconic male action stars present and accounted for in The Expendables 2 that the film’s teaser trailer was more a glorified roll call, rather than a full-fledged theatrical promo. Similarly, the previously-released unofficial Expendables 2 poster was virtually overflowing with cinematic badasses – and yet it still didn’t manage to include every noteworthy actor who makes an appearance in the sequel.

Lionsgate has unveiled the first official one-sheet for the new Expendables flick – and, for better or for worse, Sylvester Stallone’s onscreen alter ego, Barney Ross, is the only testosterone-fueled mercenary to be seen.

‘The Expendables 2′ Trailer is A Showcase of Action Stars

When Sylvester Stallone assembled his cast of bad-ass action stars for The Expendables, which included cameo appearances of Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger, the only thing fans desired was more. The Expendables 2 promises to deliver exactly that in spades.

Adding more 80s action heroes who initially turned down opportunities to play a part in the first flick, legends Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme now join the team along with several other notable stars. The first poster for The Expendables 2 hit last month to showcase the unbelievable cast and now we have the very first teaser trailer which does the same.

‘Expendables 2′ Poster: A Sky-High Stack of Manly Action Stars

Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, and the rest of the good ol’ boys appearing in The Expendables 2 have been busy in weeks past, tearing up Eastern Europe and (inadvertently) wreaking havoc on local Bulgarian natural landmarks.

We’ve been treated to a collection of simple set photos in the meantime, showcasing Jean-Claude Van Damme, Chuck Norris, and Stallone chilling alongside Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger – but nothing yet that groups all of the film’s action movie icons together for one big (manly) dog pile… until now.

A poster has surfaced for the Expendables sequel, the cast of which features most of the main players in the first film, along with new additions like Van Damme, Norris, Scott Adkins, and youngster Liam Hemsworth.

Apparently it’s been a good old time on set with the good ol’ boys of The Expendables 2 cast. Ever since Con Air director Simon West started rolling film on the sequel to Sylvester Stallone’s action-movie throwback, we’ve seen a variety of photos coming from the set, featuring some of the biggest baddasses on and off the screen once again flexing muscle and shooting off their guns.

However, if there’s one player in the cast of the Expendables sequel who fans are especially excited to see, it is no doubt JCVD himself, Jean-Claude Van Damme. Mickey Rouke Passes On ‘Expendables 2′ For ‘Seven Psychopaths’

Lots of aging brawny men will be joining Sylvester Stallone in The Expendables 2 – which is just going into production (see: this fun set photo of Stallone with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis) – but it looks like one star from the first movie won’t return in the sequel.

The actor in question is Mickey Rourke, who played the garage-dwelling, cowboy hat-wearing, “Tool” in the first Expendables. Instead, Rourke is pressing ahead with a role in Seven Psychopaths: the new dark comedy from Oscar-winning writer/director Martin McDonagh (In Bruges).

Rourke was reported to be all-but-locked for Seven Psychopaths earlier this year, joining a cast that includes McDonagh’s In Bruges leading man, Colin Farrell, as well as Sam Rockwell and Christopher Walken. However, Deadline says he’s still negotiating to officially join that film and ...

There’s finally been some casting confirmations for The Expendables 2, which is slated to begin production in Bulgaria next month. Heavyweights like Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme have officially joined the acting roster for the sequel, while returning faces like Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger are confirmed to expand on their (too) brief roles from the first film.

Simon West will begin shooting (appropriate verb) his sequel to Sylvester Stallone’s macho man brawl, The Expendables 2, sometime over the next couple of months – and Millennium Films has begun the lengthy process of confirming which rumored stars will actually be showing up in the action-packed blockbuster.

An official cast list for the Expendables followup has made its way online, revealing that Stallone’s mercenary crew from the first film (Jason Statham, Jet Li, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Dolph Lundgren) and Mickey Rourke are all set to reprise their respective roles in Part Deux.

The only bits of concrete information we have about The Expendables 2 right now is that lead actors like Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham are returning, Bruce Willis is seemingly set to play the villain, Simon West will be directing – and the screenwriter of Muppets from Space and Curious George is co-writing the script (no joke).

Despite rumor mongering that Sylvester Stallone would once again be leading his battalion both onscreen and behind the camera in The Expendables 2, it turns out that Sly will be handing over both scripting and directing duties on the sequel (though he is expected to be involved in crafting the story).

After several months of searching, it looks as though Sly and Lionsgate studio heads have finally settled on a fellow to direct the Expendables followup: none other than Con Air and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider helmer, Simon West.

Jean-Claude Van Damme’s frequent collaborator (and good friend) Sheldon Lettich has made it known in the past that the aging martial arts star is interested in joining the followup to Sylvester Stallone’s testosterone-fueled 80s-throwback action pic, The Expendables 2.

Now Lettich is saying that not only is “The Muscles From Brussels” prepped to join the Expendables sequel, he’ll actually be playing one of the villains in next year’s hard-hitting followup.

‘The Expendables 2′ Snags An Official Release Date

The followup to last year’s ’80s action mashup, The Expendables 2, is now officially slated for theatrical release almost two years exactly after its predecessor shot, cut, slashed, smashed, and whatever-other-past-tense-violent-verb-you-can-think-of its way into theaters.

Lionsgate has settled on August 17th, 2012 as the day of release for Expendables 2, just a week after another explosion-and-action friendly blockbuster sequel, GI Joe 2, arrives on the scene.

Sylvester Stallone will be back as intrepid Expendables leader Barney Ross in front of the camera, but looks to hand over the directorial reins to someone else on the sequel. Ross’ fellow mercenaries – including Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), Yin Yang (Jet Li), Toll Road (Randy Couture), and Hale Caesar (Terry Crews) – are all expected to return as well.

The Last Airbender Leads 2011 Razzie Award ‘Winners’

It’s that time of year again, when the Oscars reward various filmmakers, films, and actors for their extraordinary cinematic work, and the Razzies punish various filmmakers, films, and actors for their especially horrendous cinematic work.

Last night, the 31st Annual Razzie Awards were held at Hollywood’s Barnsdall Gallery Theater. To no one’s surprise, M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender was the big “winner” (or maybe “loser” is more appropriate here) of the night, taking home the most Razzies. Alas, it wasn’t a clean sweep, as Sex and the City 2 took home several awards that Airbender was nominated for.

Those who watched the 68th Golden Globe Awards dropped jaw when host Ricky Gervais delivered a stinging introduction for Bruce Willis by referring to him as “Ashton Kutcher’s Dad.” Yikes.
