Movie Images & Posters: ‘Dredd’, ‘Expendables 2′ and ‘Riddick’

All three titles featured in our latest image and poster roundup – The Expendables 2, Dredd and Riddick – are franchise installments with something to prove. The Expendables sequel aims to outperform its predecessor in every way possible, while the Judge Dredd reboot is meant to be a truer-to-form adaptation of the original British sci-fi comic book. Riddick, by comparison, looks to return the series to its leaner, meaner Pitch Black roots (after the bloated Chronicles of Riddick).

Check out the full gallery above for a new look at fan-faves Lena Headey and Karl Urban in Dredd, Scott Adkins from Expendables 2 and Vin Diesel as (shirtless) Riddick. ‘The Expendables 2′ Trailer: Explosions, Humor & Macho Men Galore

Looking for an action flick overflowing with beefy stars who are not wearing shiny costumes or multi-colored unitards – but instead, craggy-faced and armed to the teeth? Then you will definitely want to check out today’s full-length theatrical promo for The Expendables 2, following yesterday’s trailer preview (as was hosted by a yelling, crotch-grabbing Terry Crews).

After a straightforward teaser trailer that showcased the Expendables sequel’s legendary manly cast, we now have a better taste of what explosive (in all meanings of the term) material the film will serve up, now that Sylvester Stallone has handed over directing duties to Simon West (Con Air, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider).

One of the first things that jumps out about this Expendables 2 trailer (for this writer) is how much better the action scenes look, in terms of camerawork and editing. ...

Yup, it’s time for another trailer preview. The trend of releasing a trailer for the actual trailer for a film has really taken off this year – with titles like Breaking Dawn – Part 2, Prometheus, Looper and now The Expendables 2 all taking advantage of the tactic to drum up interest in their respective theatrical promos.

The Expendables 2 trailer preview – as hosted by just one member of “The New Dirty Dozen,” Terry Crews – aims to have its cake and eat it too, by both teasing the Expendables sequel’s trailer and making fun of the whole trailer preview trend. (That and trying to pack as many explosions into 30 seconds as possible.)

Summer Movie Images & Posters: ‘G.I. Joe 2′, ‘Expendables 2′, ‘MIB3′, ‘Spider-Man’ & ‘Snow White’

Today’s batch of Summer Movie Season 2012 paraphernalia includes images and posters from a somewhat belated threequel (Men in Black III), a retooling of a centuries-old tale (Snow White and the Huntsman), a revamping of a cash-cow comic book movie franchise (The Amazing Spider-Man), Schwarzenegger, Willis and Stallone shooting things up in The Expendables 2 - and G.I. Joe: Retaliation, which bucks the sequel/reboot trend by being equal parts both.

Check out the full gallery for another look at the new alien hardware in the third (or, as the posters put it, cubed) Men in Black film, along with the namesakes for every one of the aforementioned titles – including a pic that showcases three iconic names in 1980s action entertainment, united together (and not simply trash-talking one another).

‘Expendables 2′ Character Posters: Meet the New Dirty Dozen

As far as the impending slate of hard-hitting action flicks goes, the king of badassery (where cast credentials are concerned) is The Expendables 2. Last week saw the release of numerous G.I. Joe: Retaliation character posters – showing off the improved cast for that sequel – and today we have one-sheets for all members of “The New Dirty Dozen,” who’re uniting for the second Expendables installment.

We’re just a few weeks away from the official start of the 2012 Summer Movie Season, which means tons of franchise titles, reboots, and sequels will soon be flooding theaters – including, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, The Expendables 2, and Piranha 3DD. Once things cool down at your local multiplex, more artsy fare (like Neil Jordan’s Byzantium) will be taking the place of those blockbuster releases.

As it were, we have new promotional stills, images, and posters from all four of the aforementioned titles to share with you today. So, whatever your flavor – be it smoldering-but-deadly secret soldiers, the definitive BAMF (ie. The Expendables was an unprecedented movie event in that it collected some of the biggest action stars in film (and/or sports entertainment) for a drag-out, blood-spattering, action flick orgy of violence and one-liners. Despite the kick of having stars like Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, Randy Couture, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin in one movie, it was hard not to notice those stars who passed on the opportunity.

After the success of the first installment, we saw action movie icons like Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme reverse their initial decisions and join what will hopefully be Con Air director Simon West’s superior sequel, The Expendables 2. Sylvester Stallone Says ‘The Expendables 2′ Will Be Rated R

Countless people around the Interwebz were stirred up into a virtual riot (pun intended) in the early goings of 2012, when word got out that The Expendables 2 - a macho action throwback flick that writer/star Sylvester Stallone has described as a “Barbeque of Grand scale Ass Bashing” – was shaping up to be a PG-13 Rated affair, due largely to co-star Chuck Norris objecting to the “hardcore language” present in Stallone’s script draft.

While Stallone was fairly quick to confirm that rumor as being true rather than the result of a mistranslation, the beefy sexagenarian has since back-peddled on his claim. Sly is now reported as having said that the sequel to The Expendables will indeed be an R-Rated affair, like its predecessor – not to mention the innumerable manly action titles of the 1980s ...

‘The Expendables 2′ To Be Rated PG-13 Because of Chuck Norris [Updated]

Considering that The Expendables 2 will feature a who’s who of macho male action icons, be chock-full of explosion-happy set pieces, and aims to embrace the model of testosterone-fueled blockbuster romps that were all the rage in the 1980s and ’90s – even more so than the first film – it is assumed that this would be a very hard R-Rated movie, right?

Well, apparently that might not be the case after all, as the screenplay for the Expendables sequel is said to have been watered down to a PG-13 Rating, thanks to (bizarre though it may seem at first) co-star Chuck Norris.

Norris was interviewed recently by the Polish paper Kazeta. That story was thereafter translated by Expendables Premiere into English, which fished out a comment from the Walker, Texas Ranger ...

There are so many iconic male action stars present and accounted for in The Expendables 2 that the film’s teaser trailer was more a glorified roll call, rather than a full-fledged theatrical promo. Similarly, the previously-released unofficial Expendables 2 poster was virtually overflowing with cinematic badasses – and yet it still didn’t manage to include every noteworthy actor who makes an appearance in the sequel.

Lionsgate has unveiled the first official one-sheet for the new Expendables flick – and, for better or for worse, Sylvester Stallone’s onscreen alter ego, Barney Ross, is the only testosterone-fueled mercenary to be seen.

‘The Expendables 2′ Trailer is A Showcase of Action Stars

When Sylvester Stallone assembled his cast of bad-ass action stars for The Expendables, which included cameo appearances of Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger, the only thing fans desired was more. The Expendables 2 promises to deliver exactly that in spades.

Adding more 80s action heroes who initially turned down opportunities to play a part in the first flick, legends Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme now join the team along with several other notable stars. The first poster for The Expendables 2 hit last month to showcase the unbelievable cast and now we have the very first teaser trailer which does the same.

‘Expendables 2′ Poster: A Sky-High Stack of Manly Action Stars

Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, and the rest of the good ol’ boys appearing in The Expendables 2 have been busy in weeks past, tearing up Eastern Europe and (inadvertently) wreaking havoc on local Bulgarian natural landmarks.

We’ve been treated to a collection of simple set photos in the meantime, showcasing Jean-Claude Van Damme, Chuck Norris, and Stallone chilling alongside Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger – but nothing yet that groups all of the film’s action movie icons together for one big (manly) dog pile… until now.

A poster has surfaced for the Expendables sequel, the cast of which features most of the main players in the first film, along with new additions like Van Damme, Norris, Scott Adkins, and youngster Liam Hemsworth.

Apparently it’s been a good old time on set with the good ol’ boys of The Expendables 2 cast. Ever since Con Air director Simon West started rolling film on the sequel to Sylvester Stallone’s action-movie throwback, we’ve seen a variety of photos coming from the set, featuring some of the biggest baddasses on and off the screen once again flexing muscle and shooting off their guns.

However, if there’s one player in the cast of the Expendables sequel who fans are especially excited to see, it is no doubt JCVD himself, Jean-Claude Van Damme. Mickey Rouke Passes On ‘Expendables 2′ For ‘Seven Psychopaths’

Lots of aging brawny men will be joining Sylvester Stallone in The Expendables 2 – which is just going into production (see: this fun set photo of Stallone with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis) – but it looks like one star from the first movie won’t return in the sequel.

The actor in question is Mickey Rourke, who played the garage-dwelling, cowboy hat-wearing, “Tool” in the first Expendables. Instead, Rourke is pressing ahead with a role in Seven Psychopaths: the new dark comedy from Oscar-winning writer/director Martin McDonagh (In Bruges).

Rourke was reported to be all-but-locked for Seven Psychopaths earlier this year, joining a cast that includes McDonagh’s In Bruges leading man, Colin Farrell, as well as Sam Rockwell and Christopher Walken. However, Deadline says he’s still negotiating to officially join that film ...

There’s finally been some casting confirmations for The Expendables 2, which is slated to begin production in Bulgaria next month. Heavyweights like Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme have officially joined the acting roster for the sequel, while returning faces like Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger are confirmed to expand on their (too) brief roles from the first film.

A fresh-faced actor – whose screen career is definitely on the rise – has now officially joined the cast for the new Expendables flick. Don’t worry, though, it’s not previously-rumored candidate Taylor Lautner.

Simon West will begin shooting (appropriate verb) his sequel to Sylvester Stallone’s macho man brawl, The Expendables 2, sometime over the next couple of months – and Millennium Films has begun the lengthy process of confirming which rumored stars will actually be showing up in the action-packed blockbuster.

An official cast list for the Expendables followup has made its way online, revealing that Stallone’s mercenary crew from the first film (Jason Statham, Jet Li, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Dolph Lundgren) and Mickey Rourke are all set to reprise their respective roles in Part Deux.

The only bits of concrete information we have about The Expendables 2 right now is that lead actors like Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham are returning, Bruce Willis is seemingly set to play the villain, Simon West will be directing – and the screenwriter of Muppets from Space and Curious George is co-writing the script (no joke).
