Stuart Townsend Replaced Last Minute For Thor

Stuart Townsend, who was cast as one of “The Warriors Three” in Kenneth Branagh’s production of Thor for Marvel Studios, has left due to creative differences. Replacing Townsend (left) as Fandral the Dashing will be relative unknown Joshua Dallas (right) according to two anonymous inside sources.

The change reportedly occurred last week and this is slightly curious but not that uncommon. It is very last minute with principal photography is set to begin tomorrow and I wonder what sort of creative dispute would make Stuart want to bail on such a high profile project. This is the first hiccup we’ve seen from the casting side of things as everything leading up to this point has been on the up and up for what has become an amazingly talented cast.

The Descent: Part 2 Review

Short Version: For absolute die hard horror fans out there, The Descent: Part 2 may be worth a watch at some point on DVD. For everyone else, I’d say skip this lackluster sequel and settle for renting the brilliant first film instead.

If you’ve been reading Screen Rant for any amount of time, you’re probably aware that I’m a HUGE fan of Neil Marshall’s modern horror masterpiece, The Descent, from back in 2005 (although for some reason it didn’t hit U.S. theaters until Fall 2006). To me, it was the most effective horror film I’d seen in years, and my personal favorite since The Shining (it featured at number 1 on my list of the “Top 5 Movies That Scared the Hell Out of Me”).

New Trailer For ‘The Descent: Part 2′

A new trailer for The Descent: Part 2 , a sequel to Neil Marshall’s 2005 modern horror masterpiece, has appeared online at IGN. The sequel isn’t directed by Marshall (he’s an exec producer, but it’s still a big red flag for me), but rather by the editor of The Descent, Jon Harris (making his directorial debut). It stars two of the original actresses, Shauna Macdonald and Natalie Mendoza, and co-stars Gavan O’Herlihy, Joshua Dallas, Anna Skellern, Douglas Hodge and Krysten Cummings.

The Descent: Part 2 picks up pretty much right after the first movie (SPOILERS ahead for those who haven’t seen the original), with most of the original cave divers having been killed by the “Crawlers” living within the unknown cave. Sarah emerges from the caves (the only one of the group left ...

Today we’ve collected a pile of new posters that have debuted over the course of this week for you. They include new one-sheets for Zombieland, Amelia, The Private Lives of Pippa Lee, Dorian Gray and Sorority Row. In addition to those, we also have a foreign poster for Surrogates, a fan-made poster for Tron Legacy and an artwork sheet for The Descent: Part 2.

Coming Soon has exclusive look at the new Zombieland poster. I think it’d be a little better if they kept more of the color in the image but it’s cool nonetheless and I’ll definitely be seeing this the day it comes out.

‘The Descent 2′ Heads ’2009 Film 4 Frightfest’ Line-up

Every year a horror festival by the name of Film 4 Frightfest takes place on August Bank Holiday weekend in London in the UK. It’s a haven for British horror film fans, featuring some of the latest and greatest of what the horror genre has to offer that are almost always UK, European and World Premieres. The festival returns for it’s tenth year in 2009, and we have the scheduled line-up of films for you to have a look at.

For the first time in the Frightfest’s history, the films will be shown on two screens: The Main Screen will show the biggest films (the Premieres, the ones with the biggest stars/directors etc), and the Discovery Screen will play some of the more riskier stuff, along with doubling up on some of the bigger stuff to give folks ...

A sequel to The Descent, as unwarranted as it is, will probably pique the interests of most horror fans everywhere regardless if they want another one or not.
