‘Dark Knight Rises’: International Banners, Catwoman Poster & Plot Details

Just as The Avengers did earlier this year, The Dark Knight Rises has begun to make headlines on an almost daily basis – with just under two months left until Christopher Nolan’s climactic Batman movie hits theaters.

Warner Bros. spent the past week showering fans with Dark Knight Rises posters, character one-sheets, TV spots, and domestic banners. Today, we add to the DKR paraphernalia pile with two international character banners, a “secret” poster with femme fatale Catwoman (or, rather, her high-heel), and some plot details revealed in the synopsis for a children’s tie-in book – about the relationship between Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) and Selina Kyle (Anne Hathaway).

‘Dark Knight Rises’ Banners & Promo Art; New Footage to Air On MTV

Bat-fever is starting to spread, now that Warner Bros. has initiated its marketing blitz for The Dark Knight Rises. Just over the past few days alone, several new TV spots, banners, and screenshots have been released.

Today, we have an additional pair of Dark Knight Rises posters to share, along with a handful of promo art tie-ins. Furthermore, it has been announced that even more unseen footage is slated to premiere during the 2012 MTV Movie Awards show (which is right around the corner).

Warner Bros.’ first two television promos for Dark Knight Rises have already done a lot to win over fans who were left unmoved by the dramatic, slow-burn approach of the film’s theatrical trailers. ‘Dark Knight Rises’ Banners, Images & TV Spots: Sassy Catwoman, Terrorist Bane [Updated]

Warner Bros. has begun stepping up its marketing for The Dark Knight Rises this week. The studio stumbled a bit at first, by unveiling a Photoshop-heavy poster that left many fans grumbling about poor craftsmanship – but quickly recovered thereafter with a handful of dark, slick, character banners.

A handful of new screenshots and behind-the-scenes pics from Dark Knight Rises have emerged online, along with the film’s first official television spots (scroll on down to watch those). Whereas the film’s theatrical trailers are more subdued and gradually build to a booming conclusion, these TV promos inject more energy and humor into the proceedings.

Yesterday fans were somewhat underwhelmed by a new poster for The Dark Knight Rises, which admittedly looked like some fan-made poster, more so than an actual official one-sheet for Chris Nolan’s conclusion to his Batman trilogy.

As if having heard the collective cry of disapproval from Batman movie fans everywhere, Warner Bros. has released this new set of Dark Knight Rises posters, this time highlighting each of the principal characters: Batman (Christian Bale), Bane (Tom Hardy) and Catwoman (Anne Hathaway).

The new posters are certainly better than the ‘Batman on Fire’ image of the previously-release one-sheet – but in terms of highlighting the characters’ looks and costumes, I’m still partial to the unofficial Dark Knight Rises promotional artwork released not too long ago (before being swiftly removed by the studio); it really accentuated both the ...

New ‘Dark Knight Rises’ Poster Features Gotham in Flames

Let’s face it: awareness for The Dark Knight Rises is widespread enough that Warner Bros. does not need to match Marvel’s marketing frenzy for The Avengers – or Sony’s ongoing public and viral campaign for Amazing Spider-Man.

Most moviegoers have already made up their minds as to whether or not they want (or, rather, intend) to see writer/director Christopher Nolan’s conclusion to his cinematic Batman trilogy; they just need to know the “when.”

That established pool of demand has allowed Warner Bros. to ease back on the furious “underground” (re: viral) marketing blitz it employed while cranking up the anticipation factor for The Dark Knight. Marion Cotillard Confronts Rumors About Her ‘Dark Knight Rises’ Role

Ever since Oscar-winner Marion Cotillard signed on for The Dark Knight Rises (reuniting her with Inception director Christopher Nolan), there’s been a good deal of speculation about who exactly she is playing in the Batman trilogy finale. Even after it was officially announced that Cotillard had been cast as “Miranda Tate”, that did little to weather rumors that her character will have a secret identity in the film.

THR recently did a piece on Cotillard, wherein the actress spills a few details about her part in Dark Knight Rises – while also (seemingly…) shooting down a longtime rumor about her character. Suffice it to say, you should not read on if you wish to avoid knowing anything else about the highly-anticipated blockbuster.

Weekend Box Office Wrap Up: May 6th 2012

The Avengers came. The Avengers saw. The Avengers conquered.

Joss Whedon’s big screen comic book mash-up broke records at the box office over the weekend and managed to score the biggest opening weekend EVER! That’s right – bigger than Harry Potter ($169 million) and bigger than The Dark Knight ($158 million). The Marvel movie should gross a mammoth $200 million by Monday morning! A fantastic number given the films $220 million production budget.

The film grossed $80.5 million on Friday, (second only to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2’s $91.1 million) kicking-off the summer season in spectacular fashion. The biggest Marvel hero opening was Spider-Man 3’s $151 million launch (it topped out at $336 million, a series domestic low) – but as he’s not part of The Avengers ...

Tim Burton Compares His ‘Batman’ Movies to Nolan’s; Kevin Feige Praises ‘The Dark Knight’

The Avengers might be the prettiest belle at the ball currently – only replace the words “prettiest” with “most talked about” and “belle at the ball” with “superhero movie” – but no one’s forgotten about The Dark Knight Rises, which just dropped a major league trailer and is only a couple of months out now.

Speaking of no one forgetting Batman, while promoting Dark Shadows, Tim Burton compared his contributions to the series (Batman, Batman Returns) to Christopher Nolan’s rebooted installments. Meanwhile, Marvel’s Kevin Feige called Nolan’s Batman films “the greatest thing that happened.” (Presumably to superhero movies.)

5 Reasons Why I’m More Excited For ‘Dark Knight Rises’ Than ‘The Avengers’

The Avengers arrives in theaters and brings Iron Man, Thor and Captain America together to battle a great evil force. The reviews – so far – have been great, and the film promises to kick off summer in a big way.

But this isn’t the movie that I’m most excited about this summer. Not by a long shot. My most-anticipated movie of the summer is The Dark Knight Rises – the eagerly-anticipated final chapter in the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy.

Fellow Screen Ranter Rob Frappier previously wrote about the 5 reasons he is more excited about The Avengers than TDKR, and I jumped at the chance to give a counterpoint. Here’s my list of 5 reasons I’m looking forward more to Batman returning to the big screen than I am about The Avengers.

5 Reasons Why I’m More Excited for ‘Avengers’ Than ‘Dark Knight Rises’

I recently came to a shocking conclusion – I am much more excited to see The Avengers than I am to see The Dark Knight Rises. Okay, so that might not seem shocking to you, but it was definitely a shock to me.

For my entire life, I’ve been a huge Batman fan. From the comic books to the animated series and through all of the movies, the Caped Crusader has always been my favorite superhero and, as of a few months ago, I don’t think anyone could have convinced me that Christopher Nolan’s epic conclusion to his Batman trilogy would be anything short of brilliant. That’s all changed now, though.

New ‘Dark Knight Rises’ Promo Images: Batman, Bane & ‘The Bat’

The Dark Knight Rises has started to make headlines on an almost daily basis over the past couple of weeks. We can probably read that as a harbinger that Warner Bros. is about to emulate what Marvel did with The Avengers during the two months (or so) leading up to that comic book blockbuster’s release: begin a marketing blitzkrieg for Christopher Nolan’s final Batman flick that’ll leave moviegoers both hyped to see it – and worn out by the promo overload.

For the time being, though, Bat-fever is just starting to spread. Along with early descriptions of the film’s CinemaCon sizzle reel that leaked out yesterday, today we have some promotional imagery for Dark Knight Rises that premiered at the event.

‘Dark Knight Rises’ CinemaCon Footage Recap: A Truly Epic Batman Finale

Right now Avengers hype is at an all-time high as Marvel’s mega-movie crosses the finish line into theaters. Inevitably, talk is now turning to what Marvel Studios has allegedly done that DC/Warner Bros. has arguably not: built sufficient hype for their big summer tentpole film.

People are currently (at the time of writing this) mentioning The Dark Knight Rises in the same breath as the word “underwhelming” – but only for now. When the new Dark Knight Rises trailer is released in front of The Avengers next week, the talk will no doubt shift all over again. ‘Dark Knight Rises’ Early Reactions; Over An Hour Shot in IMAX

Thanks to 20th Century Fox’s brilliant official and viral promotional campaign for Prometheus – plus Marvel over-saturating the market with Avengers material – all combined with Warner Bros.’ virtually non-existent marketing for The Dark Knight Rises in recent months – and Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy finale has been left in the dust, prompting a number of film geeks to drop it from atop their Most Anticipated Lists for 2012.

That will surely change once Avengers arrives in (U.S.) theaters next week, with a third Dark Knight Rises trailer attached. In the meantime, early reactions both official and unconfirmed – coupled with new reports that the film will include over an hour of IMAX footage – are sure to stir things up, as far as talk around the movie blogosphere goes.

‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Gets New Trailer With ‘The Avengers’

With all of the hype generated by the LA and Moscow premieres of The Avengers adding to the excitement from the full-force marketing push by Disney and Marvel Studios, The Dark Knight Rises has taken a temporary back seat as their comic counterparts enjoy the spotlight.

That shift in attention has made for some interesting discussion behind the scenes here at Screen Rant as we debate and ponder which of the comic book juggernauts is the most anticipated of the year, but it’s impossible to tell right before one releases thanks to said studio marketing. Things have been relatively quiet on the Dark Knight Rises front, as director Chris Nolan completes post-production work on the film. Kevin Feige Compares ‘Avengers’ to ‘Dark Knight Rises,’ Talks Loki’s Army, & More

With The Avengers mere days away from a UK release – and mere weeks away from a U.S. release – media exposure is at an all-time high, with footage, imagery, interviews, and more hitting the web at an increasingly rapid rate.
