The Chronicles of Narnia gets that sinking feeling, but at least the crew aren’t feeling like a Tourist; apparently Guillermo del Toro just wasn’t busy enough; Sofia Vergara and Jessica Biel set a date for New Year’s Eve; Adam Sandler and Kevin James start the ignition for Valet Guys; Shia LaBeouf and Tom Hardy move to The Wettest County in the World; James Franco suffers from Maladies; we approach Serial Killer Days; Mark Wahlberg is a Teddy Bear; Chris Tucker is a Rabbit and did that book just move? No the Atlas Shrugged.

Box Office

The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader (read our review) was the leader at the box office over the weekend. The big budget fantasy film grossed a disappointing $24.5 million– much lower than Walden Media and 20th Century Fox would have liked.

Mid-Week Movie News Wrap Up – Jan. 29, 2009

It’s that time again – you know when you catch up on film news that you might have missed.

This week:

Neil Marshall is a Centurion; John Orloff helps create James Bond and Smith backs away from Oldboy.

1. Brit director Neil Marshall (Doomsday and Dog Soldiers) will direct Centurion, a sword and sandals epic set in Britain.

According to The Hollywood Reporter:

“The movie, billed as a thriller set during the Roman invasion of Britain in A.D. 117, tells the story of Quintus Dias, sole survivor of a Pictish raid on a Roman frontier fort, who marches north with General Virilus’ legendary Ninth Legion, under orders to wipe the Picts from the face of the Earth and destroy their leader, Gorlacon.”

300‘s Michael Fassbender, The Wire’s Dominic West and Quantum of Solace’s Olga Kurylenko will star.

Sounds like it should be good.
