Matt Damon Hoping To Make Another Bourne Movie

The fourth film in the Bourne franchise is happening but it’s been confirmed for a while that star Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass will not be involved. Instead, the studio is pushing forward with The Bourne Legacy which, despite its title, does not feature the character of Jason Bourne at all.

The Bourne Legacy will follow another new character who has to deal with the results of the events of the Matt Damon trilogy, while Jason Bourne still lives in the background. While everyone can agree we’d rather have Greengrass and Damon back to make a legitimate sequel, at least this studio-motivated idea allows for them to return in the future should Greengrass gain interest.

Bourne 4 Is Going To Happen

In a bit of breaking news, it appears that money does in fact, talk.

Despite both director Paul Greengrass and Jason Bourne himself Matt Damon swearing up and down that The Bourne Ultimatum would in fact conclude the series, Bourne 4 is definitely moving forward.

I guess when your last installment is hailed as the best in the series (which is definitely saying something) and grosses $450 million (an all-time high for the franchise), you can’t help but think of excuses to have Jason Bourne running around the globe yet again.

Universal has hired Ultimatum co-writer George Nolfi to pen the next outing of everyone’s favorite amnesiac super-spy hero. It will be an original story not based on any of Robert Ludlum’s novels.

Bourne, Again

Buried in a story about Universal Studios’ strategy to re-invigorate itself is a mention that there will be a fourth film in the Bourne series.

The Bourne trilogy has been been extremely popular and profitable for Universal and is one of the bright spots in their financial ledger. As pointed out by /Film, the trilogy has grossed over $945 million worldwide with the last movie, The Bourne Ultimatum responsible for about half that total.

The existing three films have exhausted the original source material – novels written by Robert Ludlum, but there are two additional stories that have been penned by Eric Van Lustbader (how’s that for a cool name?): The Bourne Legacy , and The Bourne Betrayal. Review: The Bourne Ultimatum

Short version: The Bourne Ultimatum hits it out of the park as a smart, action-packed and compelling spy thriller which puts the series at 3 for 3.

Rarely do you get a movie trilogy where all three films are fantastic. Actually, the only other trilogy that comes to mind that fits that description is Lord of the Rings. Now we can add The Bourne Ultimatum to that list of one.

I gave the first two films very high marks (5 stars for Identity and 4.5 stars for Supremacy) and this one lives up to the standards set by the first two completely.

A couple of clips from Hostel: Part II. At least in the second clip there’s a reason the girl running through the woods falls down. MTV Movies Blog

The Incredible Hulk: The Hulk will only be 9 feet tall and will not get any bigger than that. Superherohype

There are more X-Men-based movies to come, but not necessarily the full team. Spinoffs? Superherohype

Matt Damon says he’s done with the Bourne films. Personally I think it’s a good idea, especially if Bourne Ultimatum closes the circle. Leave it at a great trilogy and move on. /Film

There’s a new trailer out for The Bourne Ultimatum.

It seems like in this film all hell will break loose because Jason Bourne remembers everything. I don’t know why, but as I watched it I found myself wishing for a Jason Bourne vs. John McClane movie.

Bourne Ultimatum Trailer

There’s a new teaser trailer out for the upcoming film The Bourne Ultimatum over at FirstShowing.net.

I thought the first two “Bourne” movies were awesome and from the looks of this trailer I don’t believe this one will disappoint. Although the first two thirds of this teaser trailer is footage from the prior films, the last third is still enough to get me fired up. It looks like this one may really show Jason Bourne “unleashed”, now that he realizes who and what he is.
