Director Eli Roth says he's committed to turning his fake Grindhouse trailer Thanksgiving into a feature film, and that he's been hard at work on the script.

It’s been over a year since director Eli Roth gave us an update on Thanksgiving – the proposed feature film version of his fake Grindhouse trailer. With its comically over-the-top violence and tongue-in-cheek adoration of late ’70s/early ’80s slasher films, audiences agreed that the concept was brimming with big screen potential.

Initially, Roth planned on making Thanksgiving for a paltry $15 million and wanted to shoot the film by tacking an extra three weeks onto the production of Endangered Species - a $60 million sci-fi film.

Our friends at Cinema Blend had an opportunity to sit down with Roth while he was promoting The Last Exorcism. During that interview, Roth put to rest the rumors that he’d be working on Cell and there was no mention of ...

Click to continue reading Eli Roth Working on ‘Thanksgiving’ Script

The last time we reported on what Eli Roth’s next projects would be, he revealed that they are a full-length version of his fake Thanksgiving trailer from Grindhouse and a mysterious, untitled big-budget sci-fi movie. He stated that Thanksgiving would be a fairly low-budgeted movie ($15 million at most) and that it would be, “the sickest, bloodiest, most violent slasher movie.” What was more interesting though, is that he said he wanted to shoot it in three weeks at the end of a big-budget shoot for a sci-fi movie that he was so secretive about that he couldn’t/wouldn’t even give us the name of it.

Hmmm, intriguing…

However, in speaking with Empire recently, Roth spoke about his upcoming two projects and revealed some more information. He discussed his plans for the full-length feature based on the hilarious Thanksgiving trailer that ...

Click to continue reading Eli Roth Talks ‘Thanksgiving’ & His Secret Sci-Fi Movie

However, as much as I dislike Roth as a filmmaker (he’s not quite at the level of Rob Zombie for me, but almost…), I will admit to loving his hilarious fake trailer called Thanksgiving that was part of the Grindhouse experience. On pure entertainment value alone, his was probably the best of the bunch.

Well, it appears that Roth liked it so much that he’s going to turn it into a low-budget full-length feature film, which he will film back-to-back with an at-present secret sci-fi blockbuster. He said this a ...

Click to continue reading Eli Roth Wants To Film Sci-Fi Blockbuster (w/ Bonus Gorefest)
