Ben Affleck Is Attached To ‘Tell No One’ Remake

Even though Ben Affleck is currently preparing for his next directorial effort, Argo, he’s already looking ahead to the future. As it were, the Oscar-winning actor/writer/director has attached himself to the remake of Guillaume Canet’s acclaimed 2006 French thriller, Tell No One.

Tell No One is actually an adaptation of New York Times best-selling author Harlan Coben’s popular novel; however, the Hollywood project is reportedly being designed as more of a remake of the French film adaptation than a fresh take on Coben’s source material.

Both Coben’s novel and Canet’s film adaptation revolve around the same premise: A pediatrician’s wife and childhood sweetheart is brutally murdered during what was meant to be an idyllic weekend, but her killer is caught shortly thereafter. Andrew Dominik Writing ‘Tell No One’ Remake

Last year we reported on the news that the rights to the French-language thriller Tell No One had been snapped up by Focus Features and Miramax Films, with super-producer Kathleen Kennedy on-board to produce. The project has been moving along slowly for the last year, but it appears things are starting to once again gain traction.

24 Frames has sources saying that New Zealand-born Australian filmmaker Andrew Dominik has been tapped to rework the story of Tell No One for English-language audiences. He’s reportedly been working on a draft of the screenplay but it’s unclear whether or not he will also take on directing duties (I’m certainly hoping he will).

Mid-Week Movie News Wrap Up – April 30, 2009

Another week means another wrap up.

This week:
We Tell No One about a new remake; Hollywood decides to tell us about The Day They Stole The Mona Lisa; Wolverine‘s Danny Huston is beyond the Poseidon adventure; Maria Bello and Craig T. Nelson are Company Men and Amanda Peet Travels with Jack Black.

1. Miramax will produce a remake of hit French thriller Tell No One.

The original film saw a French doctor discover that his dead wife may be alive – don’t get funny – I know that would mean she’s not really dead but get over it.

The film sounds like a 1990′s Hollywood thriller starring Michael Douglas or Harrison Ford (that’s not a bad thing). Jurassic Park producer and Spielberg protégé Kathleen Kennedy will produce the film.

The original film was based on a novel by Haralan Coben.
