‘Supernatural’ Season 8 – Will You Be Tuning In?

[WARNING - THIS POST CONTAINS SUPERNATURAL SEASON 7 SPOILERS!!!]

Like many series its age, Supernatural has had its fair share of problems during its seventh year on the air. But after seeing the Supernatural season 7 finale, has the series once again righted itself? And, more importantly, will you be tuning in when Supernatural makes its move to Wednesday for season 8?

From the continuous episodic stories that rarely progressed the plot, to the introduction of one of the most powerful, though completely non-frightening, monsters in supposed series history, many fans were worried that perhaps their favorite series had lost its way. While the season 7 finale did little prove that the series will be returning to a familiar, enjoyable path, perhaps there’s still hope for Supernatural season 8.

‘Supernatural’ Season 7 Finale Review & Discussion

Attempting to make sense of this past season of Supernatural is no easy task – one that the season 7 finale unfortunately fails to achieve.

With a string of episodic storylines that transformed the series’ typically narrative storytelling into a poor copy of television’s overused procedurals, the glimmer of hope that briefly showed itself in this season’s penultimate episode was all but lost to the disjointed, awkward presentation of the Supernatural season 7 finale.

Bringing together all available (read: not dead) fan-favorite characters to help ground many of this season’s awkward elemental inclusions, there is a strong sense that the producers are attempting to not only acknowledge the downfall of this past season, but that they are also trying to make the unfortunate position the series finds itself in as enjoyable as possible for longtime fans.

‘Supernatural’ Renewed For Season 8; Will it Be its Last?

The tale of the Winchester brothers will continue for another year, as The CW announced today that they have officially renewed Supernatural for season 8 – but could this be Supernatural’s final bow?

Despite an unconventional seventh season, news of Supernatural’s renewal isn’t likely to shock fans of the series. With news of showrunner Sera Gamble being replaced with Syfy’s Being Human showrunner Jeremy Carver – who formerly served as a producer on Supernatural - it left little debate about its chances for renewal.

For fans, their concern lies largely in what the focus of the series will be, as it heads into its eighth year on the air. Supernatural’s season 7 nemesis, the Leviathans, appropriately became a “C” storyline rather than a direct focus, fans began to wonder what had happened to the series they faithfully watched for many years.

Felicia Day Makes A Guest Appearance On ‘Supernatural’

Sci-fi staple Felicia Day will be stopping by the CW’s hit thriller Supernatural in an upcoming episode, amusingly titled “The Girl With the Dungeons and Dragons Tattoo.”

The April 27 episode will feature Day as a low-level tech at one of Dick Roman’s (the season’s primary antagonist) companies whose amateur computer hacking gets her some face time with the Winchester brothers.

When asked about Day’s appearance, executive producer Sera Gamble teased “[She] unwittingly gets wrapped up in Sam and Dean’s problems… It’s a classic story of an everyday girl who does not want to be in a whistleblower position.”

‘Supernatural’ Season 7: Bobby & Castiel’s Return Revealed

It’s been a tough season for Supernatural fans. On top of losing one fan-favorite character in the season premiere (Castiel, played by Misha Collins), viewers also had to watch as the series’ proverbial patriarch, Bobby Singer (Jim Beaver), was given a choice of either dying peacefully or sticking around to become a ghost.

Thankfully, whatever Bobby’s decision turned out to be (we still have to find out), executive producer Robert Singer revealed that “he’ll be back in one form or another.” What does that mean? Well, when it comes to Supernatural, anything is possible (and probable).

‘Supernatural’ Is Coming to Netflix as The CW Signs 4-Year Deal

The time has come to catch up on the epic adventures of Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) on Supernatural, as The CW has signed a 4-year deal to make past and future episodes of many of their hit television series available for instant streaming.

In total, Netflix will be adding over 700 hours of television programming from The CW to their continuously growing catalog. Beginning October 18, previous seasons of The Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill and Nikita will be available to watch instantly. Unfortunately, for fans of Supernatural (and 90210), you will have to wait until January 2012 to catch up on past episodes.

Unreleased ‘Supernatural’ Ghostfacers Webisode With Castiel Revealed [Updated]

While Supernatural fans wait patiently for the Season 7 premiere next month, a previously unreleased episode of the tongue-in-cheek web series Ghostfacers has mysteriously appeared online.

For the uninitiated, Ghostfacers is the fictional show-within-a-show starring paranormal investigators Harry Spangler (Travis Wester) and Ed Zeddmore (A. J. Buckley). The pair was introduced in a 2008 episode, lampooning the real-world trend of Ghost Hunters and similar series. The popularity of the farcical characters led to the development of ten Ghostfacers webisodes, each about three minutes long.

Until now, the webisode below had been kept under wraps, probably due to its more canonical ties with the full Supernatural series. In the short video, Castiel (Misha Collins) appears to warn Harry and Ed about the forthcoming Apocalypse – ...
