For a few days now, Collider has been sharing a the knowledge they gained from a lengthy talk with producer Dan Lin (Sherlock Holmes, Terminator Salvation). We recently posted a snippet of Lin talking about Terminator Salvation‘s ending, and today we’re going to follow the conversation into the subject of DC/WB’s slate of upcoming superhero movies, including Justice League, which has been stopping and going and stopping again for a few years now.

The word from Lin: Justice League is still on hold. However, it may not stay that way for too long – just one of many things we should hear more about in early 2010, as we now have further confirmation that DC/WB will be unveiling their superhero movie plans to the masses!

According to an exclusive report from Bloody Disgusting, Columbia Pictures has purchased a spec script for a horror/action film called Supermax. The film, which was written by Mitch Rouse and Christopher Allen Nelson, “takes place in a Maximum Security Prison for the Supernatural as a skilled guard must join forces with a lethal inmate after a riot ensues in order to fight his way through various monsters and madmen in order to survive.”

If that plot sounds familiar, it might be because you’re remembering the David S, Goyer-penned Super Max – a.k.a. the Green Arrow movie. The script for that film, which earned some major positive buzz when it first hit the Internet, follows the falsely accused Oliver Queen (Green Arrow) as he attempts to escape from a maximum security prison ...

Click to continue reading Will ‘Supermax’ Horror Movie Affect Green Arrow ‘Super Max?’

After the Disney/Marvel merger DC Comics and longtime-partner Warner Bros. had to be shaking in their boots. “The House of the Mouse” is already looking like a force that few will likely be able to reckon with.

Well, in an effort to become one of those few forces able to take on Disney/Marvel, Nikke Finke reports that Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. has launched a new division, DC Entertainment Inc., in order to better expand the DC Brand.

Marvel fanboys have already been having heart palpitations wondering what the fate of their favorite characters will be in the hands of Disney. Now DC fans can officially share in that anxiety.

A movie we’ve not heard about for a very long time is breathing some life again. Super Max, the DC comics-based film which would center around the character of Green Arrow stuck in a prison made for supervillains for a crime he did not commit, is still a work in progress with a new writer about to come aboard to help on the screenplay.

Over two years ago now, David Goyer described his unique superhero movie idea titled Super Max by saying the following:

“It’s like ‘Alcatraz,’ and he has to team up with, in some cases, some of the very same villains he is responsible for incarcerating in order to get out and clear his name. Of course, tons of people try to kill him while he’s in there. We’ve populated the prison ...

Click to continue reading The Green Arrow is Still Going to Super Max

Is the Green Arrow movie known as 'Supermax' finally moving forward?

A little over a year ago we commented on rumors that there might be an unconventional take on a Green Arrow movie in the works. It was tentatively titled Supermax and involved our hero trying to escape an ultra high security prison designed specifically to house super-criminals.

At the time I freely admit that I thought that while it was an intriguing idea, I figured it would fall flat at the box office (you can just read the article at the link above). However today comes a script review from the good folks over at Latino Review that makes it seem it might actually make a pretty rockin’ movie.

Here’s a description of the basic idea for the story from writer David Goyer a year ago:

“It’s like ‘Alcatraz,’ and he has to team up with, ...

Click to continue reading Supermax Moving Forward And Will Be Awesome?

According to Wizard Magazine (via Superherohype), David Goyer has come up with a very different concept for a superhero movie revolving around Green Arrow.

His idea is to have Green Arrow in character for only the first ten minutes of the film, and then have him arrested and imprisoned under false charges in a super-max, super-villain prison. GA’s costume, secret identity and weapons will be taken away and he’ll have to fend for himself and figure out how to escape.

Goyer states:
