Judd Apatow To Produce A Horror Movie?

What do you think of immediately when you see the name Judd Apatow?

Comedy, right? Well that may change slightly as it looks like surprisingly, he has his sights set on producing a horror flick.

Comedy actor and Apatow regular Bill Hader revealed in an interview recently that he and his Saturday Night Live partner Simon Rich have written a screenplay for a slasher movie for Apatow to produce.

What would an Apatow-produced slasher film from Rich and Hader be like? Says Bill:

“It’s partially Straw Dogs meets Halloween meets Home Alone meets Monster Squad.’ It’s hard to argue against that.”

“I don’t know if it’s even going to get made, Judd met with us and said ‘I want to do a horror movie with you. I want to see you in a slasher movie.’”

Superbad/Pineapple Express Crossover On the Way?

Alex Billington over at First Showing was at the Pineapple Express panel at this year’s Comic Con when Judd Apatow first cracked wise about a Pineapple Express/Superbad crossover movie during a Q&A session. At the time Billington was skeptical – until he leaned back to ask Superbad director Greg Mottola if Apatow was just B.S.’ing the crowd. Mottola let Billington know that it was no B.S.; the funniest movie crossover of all time could indeed happen.

Review: Superbad

By Vic Holtreman

Short version: Funny, with echoes of Revenge of the Nerds and believe it or not, a bit of heart.

Let’s cut to the chase: If you’re not a fan of explicit sexual humor and dick jokes in mass quantities, this is not the movie for you. However if that’s right up your alley and you have not-so-fond memories of high school regarding your luck with the ladies then you’ll probably enjoy Superbad.

Many of my online movie website buds seem to be worshiping at the altar of Superbad, and while I thought it was OK, I can’t say that I share their enthusiasm. It had a few laugh out loud moments for me and was mildly funny overall, but I didn’t leave the theater thinking it was the funniest thing ever. For that feeling I recommend you check out Hot Fuzz which I found far funnier overall.
