For most of this year, I’ve been hovering and watching for any news about any Stargate movies. Various articles or snippets around the internet suggested one thing or another.

Back in September, Amanda Tapping mentioned that the Stargate SG-1 movie was approved and could start filming after Stargate Universe is done filming.

Now comes news that the working title for the next Stargate SG-1 movie is called Stargate: Revolution and it includes bringing Jack O’Neill back “in a big way.”

Brad Wright and Carl Binder penned the script and the story in the script takes place in the time between Stargate: Continuum and Stargate: Universe.

The original plans were to shoot the movie this fall but the economy put that off. Now we just need to wait for Universe to stop filming, and if everyone ...

Click to continue reading Stargate Movie News: It Has A Working Title

Very few TV shows make it to the magical tenth season; especially those of the sci-fi genre. So, when Stargate SG-1 called it quits after their tenth season, I, along with thousands of fans worldwide, were very disappointed. We don’t even have Stargate: Atlantis to whet our wormhole whistle any more – but the spin offs are hardly ever as good as the originals – notable exception is Torchwood from Doctor Who.

That’s why even though Sony Picture Television and MGM decided to cancel the series after 214 episodes, they knew the sci-fi cash cow wasn’t finished delivering some prime time space milk. To continue pleasing fans and to keep the franchise viable, it was announced that three full length movies would be released. Stargate: Continuum and Stargate: The Ark of Truth have already come and ...

Click to continue reading New Stargate Movies on Stand By

It’s been an interesting week indeed. Today I bring some DVD news about Star Trek: TOS, Pushing Daisies, Ugly Betty, Breaking Bad and Friday Night Lights. It’s all good!

I’ve also have a couple of bits of business news about Disney and its slow, creeping take over of the entertainment world!

REMINDER: Don’t forget, Friday night on The Sci-Fi Channel: Stargate Continuum. It’s a great movie. Vic and I saw it last year with the cast of the show. There was a great time had by all.

Let’s start the show with the numbers from the last week of television viewing:

Since many of you said you were interested in numbers for a lot of shows, well, I slapped in a lot of show! As you can see, American Idol trumped everyone yet again. The first non-reality show, The Mentalist, was third on the list and then the shows scatter throughout ...

Click to continue reading Weekly TV Wrap Up – April 2nd, 2009

Yes, that sounds confusing. It was weird to write also. Even though we watch Stargate on the Sci-Fi Channel, Sci-Fi does not own the rights to the franchise. They are allowed to telecast the shows, but they don’t own them. MGM owns the rights to do with the franchise as they wish.

One of the many theories of why Stargate: Atlantis is ending is that it’s so MGM can take advantage of the potential profits in moving Atlantis to the DVD medium.

So if the confusion is clearing up a little bit, would now be a good time to mention that the Sci-Fi Channel has purchased the U.S. television rights to televise the made-for-DVD movies? Yep. That’s what they did. This purchase also includes rights to the new upcoming series, Stargate: Universe.

With the rights under their belts, the ...

Click to continue reading Stargate Movies Coming To Sci-Fi Channel

Another witty get together with the cast of Stargate Continuum at Comic-Con 2008 in San Diego

This panel was a follow up to the premiere of Stargate Continuum the night before.

As the Stargate SG-1 cast came in and were introduced, everyone applauded wildly – but by far the big fan favorite (judging by how deaf I went from the cheers) was Christopher Judge, hands down, for this Stargate Continuum forum.

Amanda Tapping talked briefly about her new web-to-TV show, Sanctuary, which has filmed eight of its scheduled thirteen episodes so far.

As for Ben Browder, he’s enjoying some quiet time between acting gigs and volunteering his time coaching pole vaulting at a local high school.

Christopher Judge is working on a project called Rage of Angels with Michael Shanks and a substantial announcement about the project is coming out in the next few weeks. He also had been ...

Click to continue reading Comic-Con ’08: Stargate Continuum Panel
