Monday may have started out slow, but Tuesday is bringing the comedy for television tonight. On top of some laughs, Justified, Ringer, and Southland help round out the dramas for tonight’s television viewing.

After being canceled and eventually resurrected, Breaking In is returning for its second season premiere. What geek-themed hilarity will ensue when Oz (Christian Slater) is forced to sell the company? You’ll have to watch to find out.

TV Casting Update: Game Of Thrones, Southland, Law & Order

When it comes to new regulars and guest stars on upcoming television shows, we’ve got a lot of news to report this week – including casting updates for Game of Thrones, Southland, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Terra Nova, and American Horror Story.

Let’s get started.

Game of Thrones

HBO’s well-received fantasy epic is currently filming its second season. Major book characters Stannis, Davos, Melisandre, Brienne and Margaery have already been cast, but new info out of the UK indicates that two more have been added.

‘Southland’ Season 3 Premiere Review & Discussion

Southland returns to TNT for its third season premiere tonight. The show has made a name for itself as a hard, no-compromise cop drama that doesn’t shy away from brutal crimes and honest characters. In stark contrast to lighter fare on both network and cable TV, Southland aims to bring the audience on a ride-along with the beat cops and detectives of the LAPD, showing every tense moment and hard choice. (which may be why it made the jump to cable last year.) The season 3 premiere of Southland delivers on the points that made the previous two seasons excel: showing the monotony, frustration and occasional terror that police experience in a city rife with gang violence and apathy.

Southland: Season 2 Premiere Review & Discussion [Updated]

Cancellation, especially in the television industry, is often permanent. Although, I think that someone forgot to pass that along to the cast of Southland and their extremely determined executive producer, John Wells. Three days after NBC abruptly canceled the series, Wells was already in talks to move the show to another network while star Michael Cudlitz was telling NBC where to “stick it” via his Twitter. In the end, it took less than a month for the sophomore series to find a new home on TNT where, as we’re told, they know drama.

Ever since the show premiered last April, I have been of two minds because while the look and feel of the show almost instantly draws you in, I wasn’t a really a fan about it being an ensemble drama. Not that I have anything against ...

With delays and cancellation plaguing SouthLAnd, who would have guessed that we would be sitting here now, less than a week away from the premiere of its sophomore season on March 2nd. Out with NBC and their peacock and in comes TNT, a network that wasn’t afraid of to air a show deemed “too dark.” If we’ve learned anything from this ordeal it’s that a great show sometimes has a chance to find a better home, and that the one time unfortunate cancellation is now a Godsend – giving SouthLAnd the chance to not only survive, but thrive on a network that believes in it (cough – and off the sinking Titanic that is NBC – cough).

As we all know holidays can be hectic and the last thing you want to worry about is when your favorite TV show is coming back on the air. TNT Picks Up ‘Southland’

Fans can rejoice as new life has been given into their favorite police drama, Southland, with TNT announcing this morning that they’ve closed the deal to pick up the popular series recently canceled by NBC for being too dark and inappropriate for their 9pm time slot.

TNT has picked up the critically acclaimed series SOUTHLAND, closing a deal with Warner Bros. Television that will bring the drama from Emmy^®-winning producer John Wells (ER, The West Wing) to the network in January. TNT has obtained exclusive rights to air all six episodes that have been shot for the second season, as well as the seven episodes from the series’ first season. SOUTHLAND will air on TNT Tuesdays at 10 p.m. (ET/PT), beginning with the first episode of the series on Jan. 12.

‘Southland’ May Find a New Home on TNT

After we announced last week that NBC had abruptly canceled Southland, fans of the show were appropriately upset as the decision came without a single episode of the second season to making it on air. While executive producer John Wells had said he intended on shopping the show around to other networks in hopes of saving it, we had no idea when or if that would come to fruition.

Today, it looks like there may be hope for the critically acclaimed Southland as TNT is currently in talks about picking up the sophomore series. How far are the talks? Well, TNT has released this statement:

“We continually look at all programming opportunities that fit our portfolio of brands.”

While that’s not anything except the typical “no comment, but read between the lines” sort of statement, sources close to Southland are saying ...

‘Southland’ Canceled Before Any Episodes Air

Yesterday, Southland executive producers Ann Biderman and Christopher Chulack walked on the set of the critically acclaimed police drama while they were filming their sixth episode of the season and announced to the cast and crew that it has been canceled and would not return for its sophomore season even though not a single episode of the five completed had aired. They will continue filming and complete the sixth episode of its second season this week.

It’s been reported that the decision to cancel the show after execs over at NBC screened the first four episodes of this season and deemed them too dark an inappropriate for a 9PM time slot. This season was going to focus more on Adams (Regina King), Sherman (Benjamin McKenzie) and their partners Cooper (Michael Cudlitz) and Brown (Arija Bareikis) rather than the ensemble cast of ...

NBC 2009 Fall Premiere Dates Announced

NBC has released the schedule of dates for their fall 2009 / 2010 season.

A pair of new dramas lined up for us are Parenthood & Trauma and some returning shows are Heroes, Law & Order: SVU and Law & Order. Southland survived it’s first season and is returning for a second.

NBC is “proud” to announce that they now have more comedy than any other network. However, they count The Jay Leno Show as part of that comedy lineup.

NBC Announces New Shows, Including “Day One”

On Monday, May 5th 2009, The Jay Leno network NBC announced a slate of new shows at their In-Fronts for the 2009 / 2010 television season. No the above screen shot is not from their in-fronts. It’s a behind the scenes shot from NBC’s new show, Day One.

Keeping in mind that we here at Screen Rant are all about action / adventure and sci-fi / fantasy (with a dribble of comedy). I’ve left out some details on the new NBC comedy shows but only because we do like our action-adventure shows. Rather than babble about what I am going to say, I might as well get right to it:

DAY ONE

Day One is a new futuristic drama that will premiere out of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games and the premise sounds awful familiar.

Weekly TV Wrap Up – April 16th, 2009

It’s Thursday and I hope that April 15th didn’t treat you too harshly yesterday. Whether it did or not, I’m still here to razz or rant on some stuff that’s happening in and around the tube.

Stargate Universe

As if this is a surprise to Stargate fans, but Stargate Universe will be having a few notable guest stars in the form of a few veterans reprising their Stargate SG-1 roles.

Yep, you read that right.

We’ll be seeing Richard Dean Anderson, Amanda Tapping, Michael Shanks and Gary Jones reprising their roles we’ve come to love over the years. Additonally, we’re going to see Christopher McDonald (U.S. senator Alan Armstrong), Janelle Monáe (plays herself. She and her band will perform) and Carlo Rota (Carl Strom, head of the International Oversight Advisory) will also make an appearance.
