CW Orders ‘Green Arrow’ Pilot; No ‘Smallville’ Connection

After one year without Smallville on the air, The CW is once again returning to its superhero roots with a pilot order for Arrow. Based on DC Comics legend Green Arrow, the series will be headed up by Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim, who wrote last year’s Green Lantern film starring Ryan Reynolds. Take that how you will.

Joining Berlanti and Guggenheim as an executive producer and writer on the tentatively titled Green Arrow series (perhaps to take the sting out of being associated with one of last year’s most disappointing films) will be Andrew Kreisberg, who has worked on Boston Legal, Fringe and Warehouse 13, and penned several Green Arrow and Batman comic books. Kreisberg, Berlanti and Guggenheim previously worked together on ABC’s short-lived Eli Stone in 2008.

Smallville NYCC ’11 – ‘The Complete Series’ Retrospective

With ten seasons under its belt, Smallville is the longest-running comic book-based show on television (and the longest-running sci-fi show in North America) — due primarily to its fan base, one of the most devout in all of pop culture.

Fortunately for those fans, Smallville: The Complete Series – a massive box set of the entire show with 192 hours of footage – will be released November 29, 2011 on DVD with a wide range of special features, including: the 1961 Superboy pilot, the 2010 final SDCC Comic-Con panel, and most importantly, a 90-minute in-depth retrospective of the entire series. At NYCC 2011, we were fortunate enough to watch the retrospective ourselves.

Smallville’s Erica Durance Cast In Canadian Pilot ‘Saving Hope’

After ten super years, Smallville‘s run on WB/The CW has come to a close. The first big move for the regular Smallville cast is Erica Durance, AKA Lois Lane, who’s taken a leading role on Canadian pilot Saving Hope.

Saving Hope is about a neonatal doctor (Durance) and her ex, a cancer surgeon in the same Toronto hospital. In an interesting twist, the show will be at least partially told from the perspective of a conscious, paralyzed patient who observes the pair’s discussions on medicine and healthcare topics. The series is based on a series of articles written in Canadian periodical The Globe and Mail.

‘Smallville’ Finale Ratings Are Up, Up And Away

Last night the finale of Smallville‘s ten-season run scored a major upswing in the ratings. The episode secured almost three million viewers, with an even better boost in the demographic score.

Smallville‘s total viewership was 2.97 million, up an impressive 49% from the last episode and matching the season premiere. The surge was the most the series has seen since October, when the 200th episode Homecoming drew in crowds of 3.2 million to see the return of Kristen Kreuk and Allison Mack.

But even more impressive was Smallville‘s jump in the prime 18-49 demographic. The show’s target viewers jumped 63% for a 1.3 rating in the prime demo, some of the best numbers all season.

Few television series last 10 years – especially on The CW. When Smallville began, nobody would have thought that we’d be seeing Clark Kent actually become Superman. While the series definitely had its up and downs, the fans always stood by it – something that certainly helped the series push through the rough spots and find its way again.

‘Smallville’ Series Finale Clips – Lex Speaks & Lois Gets Wedding Jitters

This Friday, the event that fans have been waiting for will happen in the Smallville series finale: Clark will become Superman. Of course, with a two-hour final episode, viewers can expect to see more than just blue tights and some (hopefully) high-flying action.

With Michael Rosenbaum making his return to Smallville, Lex Luthor may very well be the person that stands in the way of Clark fulfilling his destiny. Donning a familiar look of many Superman comics, Lex Luthor will be returning with a single-gloved hand.

Although, after checking out the Lex Luthor preview video (see below), it appears that our favorite proverbial aristocrat is more beat up than fans originally thought. With scars present all around his body, somehow Lex Luthor has returned.

Anything involving Jor-El (voiced by Terence Stamp) is never simple, so the ominous paternal Kryptonian decides to not only give the happy couple his blessing, but to also throw in a little wedding gift as well.

Comic book mastermind Geoff Johns is once again bringing some of DC Comics’ legendary superheroes to Smallville.

Tonight’s episode, entitled “Booster,” will mark the first-ever appearance of Booster Gold and Blue Beetle in Metropolis.

While Booster Gold will be an established superhero from the future, this episode will serve as a proverbial origin story of Jamie Reyes transforming into Blue Beetle – after being fused to the infamous scarab. Unfortunately, Jamie Reyes’ transformation into the superhero Blue Beetle isn’t going to come without problems.

Today, Smallville fans were greeted with two great teasers that represent the past perils and future destiny of Clark Kent: Lex Luthor and the Superman Suit.

In double-hitter coming out the day of the highly-anticipated Geoff Johns episode of Smallville, TV Line kicked things off with a Smallville series finale teaser trailer that shows the long-awaited return of Michael Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor.

With a myriad of flashes, quick glimpses, and the voice – Rosenbaum is unmistakable. As the pacing slowly steadies itself, the image that Smallville fans have been waiting for is clearly visible: Lex Luthor has returned.

The highly-anticipated Geoff Johns episode of Smallville will soon be upon us. Fortunately, fans of the series won’t have to wait a month to see what Booster Gold and Blue Beetle will look like in the April 22 episode, because the first image of these two DC Legends has just been released.

Donning a wonderfully created interpretation of DC’s iconic outfits that many fans will remember from the comics (see below), Jaren Brandt Bartlett and Eric Martsolf have been beautifully transformed into Blue Beetle and Booster Gold, respectively. (Perhaps NBC should have taken some notes before creating the Wonder Woman costume.)

John Schneider Returning For ‘Smallville’ Series Finale

You can now add one more Smallville cast member to the list of those returning for the Smallville series finale, as it has been revealed that John Schneider will reprise the role of Jonathan Kent one final time.

While the details of Schneider’s return has yet to be revealed, the simple fact that Jonathan Kent is dead only leaves so many options open. With Darkseid’s recent fondness for graveyards and tombstones, it wouldn’t be any surprise if the physical form Jonathan Kent came back with Darseid sitting in the so-called “driver’s seat.”
