Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that a movie based on HBO’s Rome series is indeed underway. We brought you word almost a year ago that a Rome movie is in the works, and now EW has some early details to share.

As reported in 2009 Bruno Heller, who wrote and executive produced the series, is writing the movie script as well; the film will be produced by Morning Light Productions.

The only question that remains is which epoch of Rome will the movie focus on and which cast members will be featured on the big screen?

According to EW:

Series stars Kevin McKidd (Lucius Vorenus) and Ray Stevenson (Titus Pullo) will likely sign onto the movie, which picks up in Germany four years after the series ended. The next step for Morning Light is to find a director and a studio, ...

Click to continue reading HBO’s ‘Rome’ Movie Still Marching Forward

Ray Stevenson made his mark playing Titus Pullo in the incredible Rome series, but he also made a splash earlier this year playing the title character of Frank Castle in Punisher: War Zone. Unfortunately the film was a bit of a disaster critically and at the box office but he was perfectly cast and did his job right.

Stevenson has also played some cool characters in King Arthur and Outpost among many others, but the best is yet to come as we’ll be seeing a lot more of the growing star in the next few years with him being cast and working on a few big films including a role in the Denzel Washington starrer, The Book of Eli. For the Rome fans out there, a feature film based after the ...

Click to continue reading Ray Stevenson Talks Fat Volstagg in Thor

Kevin McKidd is one of those actors who deserves some major roles and more spotlight attention. He was incredible in the way-too-short HBO series, Rome, and is excellent in all of his other work including Trainspotting, Journeyman, amongst roles in many other films.

In addition to this acting work, comic book fans may know him for being the long-rumored candidate to play Thor for a very long time back in the day and video game fans will recognize him for voicing (and providing the face) of Captain “Soap” MacTavish in what is now know as the most successfully launched video game ever: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

With the insane success (financially and critically) of the latest Activision video game and the news over the last several ...

Click to continue reading Kevin McKidd Talks Call of Duty & Rome Movies

Movie Web nabbed a nice exclusive with actor Ray Stevenson (Punisher: War Zone) and had the extra good sense to pry a little more information out of him regarding the rumored feature film of HBO’s Rome. Talk of making a Rome movie was going strong awhile back, but since then mum has pretty much been the word on the project.

However, Ray Stevenson had good news to deliver: the Rome movie is definitely moving forward, and a script is currently in development!

If you were as much a fan of Rome as I was, you owe the cosmos a serious “Atta boy!” right about now.

Here’s the part of Movie Web’s interview with Ray Stevenson that you really want to see:

Is the Rome movie still moving ahead?

Ray Stevenson: Apparently so. It is no longer a smoke and mirrors rumor. The ...

Click to continue reading HBO’s ‘Rome’ Movie Is Definitely Happening
