Michelle Rodriguez Returns For Resident Evil 5

Resident Evil is returning and stronger than ever. After the fourth installment in the franchise, Resident Evil: Afterlife, successfully implemented a shot-in-3D gore-fest to audiences around the world, it managed to easily become the most successful film in the series and fans were pleased to see elements and characters from the Resident Evil 5 video game used in the film.

The cast and crew are returning for another sequel, titled Resident Evil: Retribution, which is bringing even more of what fans want in terms of characters from the games and with them, a few surprises. Not only will Shawn Roberts reprise his role as fan-favorite villain Albert Wesker – albeit in a cameo role of sorts – but now comes word the Michelle Rodriguez has also signed on to reprise her Resident Evil 1 role as special forces operative, Rain Ocampo.

The week Resident Evil: Afterlife hit theaters, writer/director Paul W.S. Anderson was already talking up Resident Evil 5. For 37 years, the People’s Choice Awards has been celebrating the fan favorites in film, television and music. In preparation for tonight’s awards ceremony, over 35 million votes were cast by the American public in hopes that their favorite film, television series, actor or musician will take home this coveted award.

For the second year in a row, the multifaceted Queen Latifah will be serving as host of this fanatical gala. As the ball dropped in Times Square and people everywhere sang inebriated versions of “Auld Lang Syne”, it marked the end of a lukewarm movie year. With 557 movies released in 2010, some of them were truly good and others were excruciatingly bad. People could argue all day about what makes a movie truly bad, but thankfully we have the 31^st annual Golden Raspberry Awards to help us sort the chaff from the wheat.

Although the official list of nominees won’t release until January 24^th, the L.A. Times Award Tracker blog has released the shortlist of nominees for the coveted “Razzie” or Golden Raspberry Award.

Resident Evil: Afterlife is the fourth installment in the zombie-apocalypse franchise based on Capcom’s survival-horror video game series. The original Resident Evil film was a forgettable but enjoyable action-horror adaptation. The plot was convoluted but kept the focus tight, limited to a group of survivors as they escaped from a zombie-infested underground research facility. A twist at the end of the movie split the franchise from the video game source material – detonating the manageable focus into an over-the-top global apocalypse.

A new international trailer for Resident Evil: Afterlife has hit the web, just four weeks before the sci-fi/horror sequel makes it way into 2D and 3D theaters around the U.S.

Milla Jovovich stars (for the fourth time) as the lady warrior Alice in the new pic, which was written and directed by her hubby, Paul W.S. Anderson. Movie Poster Roundup: Fockers, Sucker Punch, Saw 3D, & Resident Evil

Over the past few days we’ve seen new posters for Little Fockers, Sucker Punch, Saw 3D, and Resident Evil: Afterlife.

Now, we’ve rounded them up into one convenient post for your viewing pleasure.

First up is the international poster for Little Fockers, which debuted over at Empire. The new poster indicates that the title of the film will be Meet the Parents: Little Fockers; however, I’d be willing to bet the longer title is only for our friends across the pond – similar to American Wedding (which became American Pie 3: The Wedding).

The poster is pretty underwhelming – not to mention a pretty lousy Photoshop job. Stiller doesn’t really look like he’s making eye contact with DeNiro – like he’s looking at something just over his father-in-law’s shoulder. Without the inclusion of the title characters (the little Fockers) ...

At Comic-Con last week, Sony Screen Gems held a Resident Evil: Afterlife panel presentation, where they brought out the main cast for the fourth installment of the live-action series of films based on the super successful video game franchise.

During the presentation, we and the rest of the audience were witness to the latest Resident Evil: Afterlife trailer and a full clip from the film. That trailer has been released online and you can check it out below.
