Resident Evil: Afterlife Full Synopsis and Cast List

Screen Gems has released a full synopsis and cast list for the upcoming fourth installment in the Resident Evil franchise. Entitled Resident Evil: Afterlife, the film is to be shot in 3D and will pick up where the prior installment, Resident Evil: Extinction, left off before the entire franchise circles back on itself for a prequel/reboot.

Paul W.S. Anderson, director of the original Resident Evil will be back to write, produce and helm part 4, and star Milla Jovovich will be reprising her role as Alice.

Resident Evil 4 Adds Wentworth Miller & Begins Production

The fourth installment of the Resident Evil film franchise is on its way with production having already begun in Toronto. Titled, Resident Evil: Afterlife and entering into the 3D genre, the movie brings back Milla Jovovich’s Alice character back to put an end to more zombies and the like.

Also returning to the franchise are two of the characters from Resident Evil: Extinction: Ali Larter’s Claire Redfield and Spencer Locke’s K-Mart. That’s not all though! If you’re a Prison Break fan, you’ll be happy to know that Wentworth Miller has signed on to play Chris Redfield, the brother of Ali Larter’s character and star of the recently successful Resident Evil 5 video game.

Resident Evil 5 To Be A Reboot

Resident Evil 5 To Be A Reboot

Even though Sony Screen Gems is moving ahead with a fourth Resident Evil movie, entitled Resident Evil: Afterlife (which is to be 3D, with the Avatar team handling the f/x), it appears that they’re already preparing for a FIFTH movie. But instead of continuing on the story already established, Blood-Disgusting has exclusively confirmed that the studio is planning some sort of “quasi-reboot,” just seven years after the franchise began.

The Resident Evil reboot has a tentative title of Resident Evil Begins (Christopher Nolan must be annoyed…), and is said to be about a special military unit who are sent in to fight a, “powerful, out-of-control supercomputer and hundreds of scientists who have mutated into flesh-eating creatures after a laboratory accident.” Sounds just about the same as the plot of the first film, minus the main character of Alice (Milla Jovovich).

Avatar’s 3D Team Hired For ‘Resident Evil: Afterlife’

When Screen Rant reported a couple weeks ago that Resident Evil 4, known formally as Resident Evil: Afterlife, was going to be in 3D, reactions from the readers were mixed. I wonder if any opinions will change now that we know the same crew that did the 3D filming on James Cameron’s Avatar has signed to do the 3D work for Resident Evil 4?

ShockTillYouDrop sat down for an interview with the lovely Milla Jovovich, star of the film and fiancee of Resident Evil director Paul W.S. Anderson. In the interview, Jovovich expounds upon the reasons for returning to the franchise (”The movie makes money”) and Anderson’s dedication to fully utilizing the film’s 3D technology (”He’s been…watching every 3D movie ever made pretty much.”)
